For the straps on Flynn’s costume: put another strap of fabric horizontally across his shoulders connecting the two main straps. This’ll stop it from tipping too far forward, and it’ll help a little with it moving to the side or the straps falling off. Also Flynn’s costume turned out amazing! He’s so adorable.

Reverse wedding idea! I totally agree with you when I think about my own (someday maybe) marriage. I think it would be awesome to have a very intimate wedding with your partner and immediate family only. Then setting up a year long travel plan to visit groups of friends and family that live near and far. Spending meaningful time with your friends and family is a bummer to miss out on but with a reverse wedding you can take a tour to see everyone

So cute!! Because at a wedding, it's so overwhelming that you don't get to spend real time with anyone. Just quick "hellos" with everyone. This is an amazing idea!
That's a wonderful idea!! I mean, you invite so many people to your wedding, see them each for maybe a few minutes, because every person there wants to see you, and then that's it. There's no REAL time spent with any one person. But going to visit them... brilliant!
Colleen went on and on about how it would take hours to make her curly hair nice and she literally just gets out of the shower, let's it airdry, and it's perfection. Lol 😓😓
It's just not really manageable after the second day which is the frustrating part. She and I have very similar hair and our first day washed hair is great but after? It's really frustrating. Unless you wear it in a bonnet it gets knotted really badly. And the frizz.😆
TTQ:: Very random, but now that you’ve experienced having a home office that is also separate and going back to your normal set up, which do you think was better?? Was having that separate space what you hoped for and is that still something you’re looking for in a house??
Colleen has had the experience of a big wedding and a small one, so able to know the difference. I guess she doesn't like to remember that? Traditions don't have to be about what they were or meant from the past. Its what you make of it that's beautiful.
Love how into crafts you are! Crafting is a huge part of my life too and I definitely use it to battle stress and ease anxiety. I feel like you need a cricut or silhouette or some other cutting machine. You could take things like costumes or props for your show to a whole new level!
My mom is a therapist. And one of the things she has always told me is that one huge reason new couples come in for couples therapy is that they decided to spend all of their money on a huge wedding and have started out their marriage in debt. I have no clue why anyone would want to do that for one night of partying. What a strange way to want to kick off a lifelong relationship. It almost feels like a bad omen. 😢
It depends on the way you see it, for me my wedding was the best day ever because I got to celebrate the love I have for my husband with every person that loves us!!! It is the kind of event that people travel for and having a family all around the world, it made complete sense 😄
Maybe because that’s what some of them wanted. My sister and I aren’t married yet but we both know that our dad doesn’t have the money for to pay for either one of us a wedding so we both decided that we would get married at the court house like our parents did and have a little reception afterwards. That way we can spend our money with our husbands the way we want to.
Not a Tortilla Talk question however, I just wanted to say that I came across your "Baby Name Reveal / Names We Didn't Use" videos for Wesley & Maisy the other day and after getting to watch them develop their own personalities over the past year, you picked the perfect names. I love them so much.
I had a small at home wedding as well and I wouldn’t change anything about it either! Anxiety free and stress free and we didn’t have to go in debt. We actually got the idea after watching how beautiful your at home ceremony was! Love you Colleen and watching your videos is my favorite part of the day! ❤️
A possible solution for Flynns’ costume: Try adding support straps perpendicular to the straps already placed, for example a strap with go across his chest to attach the two long straps together and another strap would go across his back horizontally to hold the two straps together. You could also add further support under his armpit area by adding a horizontal strap that will hold one long strap together on each of its ends! Hope this helps ❤
I *completely* agree with what you're saying about weddings! I really don't agree with making people feel bad for not attending a wedding, as if whether or not you attend equals how much you love them. They are too expensive! I am always barely making ends meet, and that's why I had to say no to my cousin's wedding last month. I love him very much but I literally couldn't afford to take a week off work (a week cuz it would be a traveling situation). To me a wedding is fun but it's not the most important part of a relationship. And like you said, why do I have to put myself in debt over a decision someone else made?
do ppl know she had a past with a wedding? she knows what she’s talking about ppl! when it’s true love, all you need are you and your partner and no one else matters 💛
@@angelicaca. Yup. She goes on this long rant about hating big weddings but she had one. Seems more like the explanation is "I had a big wedding and I didn't need another one." That's a perfectly understandable reason.
I've never been married but the idea of possibly having a big wedding in the future has always stressed me out so I love how Colleen and Erik found a way to make their wedding personal to them and their own families.
Colleen how would you describe your perspective and opinion of your previous marriage and wedding? Im fairly sure I saw the video on RUclips years ago but it sounds like you never talk about it
There are so many good, noble, and IMPORTANT traditions of weddings. Especially when it comes to religions. It’s not about money or making people spend money. It’s about an eternal commitment! It’s a beautiful thing!
I am personally planning a big wedding because I love spending time with my friends and family! But I totally understand not wanting one too. It's a lot of work and money!
Colleen, I related 100% to what you were saying about weddings. I was never one of those girls that dreamed about her wedding day and I always felt a lot of pressure about it - like I was ‘supposed’ to want a wedding. When I got engaged I was so stressed about the idea of having a wedding. I deal with generalized and social anxiety and the idea of being the center of attention at this event was overwhelming to me. I just wanted to be married to my best friend and a wedding felt like an obstacle for me, not a fun celebratory event like others seem to feel. My husband and I ended up eloping and it was definitely the right decision for us. My sister just got married this year and I’m so happy she got to have a beautiful wedding that was important to her - but it definitely just reaffirmed my husband and I’s decision to elope. :) Also - your hair is absolutely gorgeous in this vlog. If this is what your natural, air-dried hair looks like you are so lucky!
Tortilla talk question… I’m probably the only one thinking this, but did you have the same thoughts when you had your first marriage ? Or did you change your thoughts because of that marriage?
your hair looks so pretty when it dries naturally!! I know you've talked about sometimes feeling insecure about your naturally curly hair but girl you look gorgeous
Hearing the comments from people asking about weddings and if you like to craft made me think that you have a lot of newer viewers who might not know that you were married and had a big wedding before. Do you ever forget that you were married before Eric?
Fellow Crafter/Designer here! For the car stability, you maybe could put a bottom on the car and cut out a hole where his waist goes. Then Maybe add some foam padding around the insides of the circle to make it more comfortable for Flynn. Another suggestion would be to add a right triangle to the back of the circle cut out, to develop a seat-back. you could also add some foam padding for this too. this method will keep the car from tipping forward, and assuming you use both of my suggestions, flynn can keep a couple peices of candy in the front area of the car, right under the hood😊 hope this helps!
The wedding rant is odd. If someone wants a big wedding it's none of anyone's business who can and can't make it. And not everyone thinks weddings are misogynistic. That's kind of a blanket statement. And if someone wants to pay thousands of dollars on a wedding, or spend thousands of dollars on one time use Amazon items and airbnb's..that's their business. What worries me about people is they see an "influencer" and take what they say as a golden fact instead of making their own opinions. And to add.. didn't you just use your brother n laws and cousins wedding footage for your vlogs. You literally got paid off of their wedding!
I don’t understand. You are literally repeating what she just said. She said that if couples want to spend their money that’s alright and she didn’t want that for her and Erik. Also, she said that she liked going to weddings and enjoys the party time and all. She just doesn’t agree with the big pressure weddings imply.
Hm... Funny. I kinda recall watching a video of a really big fancy wedding between you and someone else some years back 🤔. Guess I imagined the whole thing! 🙄😂
Colleen I totally understand what you’re saying about weddings and I feel the same. I’ve been seeing lots of my friends having small backyard weddings lately to save money and I love it!
Soooo are you just not going to ever mention again that you had a wedding already??? Like Erik is your second husband. Why talk crap about weddings when you had that a few years ago??
her hair is naturally curly and it's also the curls from the night before AND she said she touched it up with a curling iron AND she didn't wash her hair that day (which is a good thing). I agree that this is the best look for her. I loved how it looked!
I was thinking about how you were feeling about your wedding cause I remember you saying a while ago you were gunna have a more elaborate party then Covid happened. I was reminded about this after watching the Miranda video earlier. Edit- first ig

Maci’s dancing is so cute! And I love, love, love Erik! He brings out the real Colleen! You can tell he makes you feel so loved! And, Kori’s editing is amazing! And, Colleen, I Love how you show that it’s okay to be sad and to have emotions. You’ve totally taught Flynn good! Much love! ❤️
Your hair looks so beautiful. The natural curls look so soft and gorgeous. You might have to shower in the morning more often bc look how easy that hair style was. Dry naturally = beautiful soft curls.
My husband and I are from Alabama, and felt pressured to have a big wedding. Idk what it is about the south, but weddings are so hyped up here and there’s a lot of pressure to do something big. At first, I totally fell into that pressure. But then I realized what was important to me: entering into marriage with my husband and having our close family and friends there. So we booked a trip to southern Utah, and got married in a national park. Now when we go to weddings we also are reminded of how thankful we are that we made a decision to do something small. People pay thousands of dollars for venues nowadays, and our venue (a national park) was FREE. Love that you spoke about this and I hope it relieves soon to be brides as they plan for their wedding day.
Colleen, you could put some of that foam adhesive on the inside of the car rim so it won’t move around as much, as well as use thick elastic as the straps for Flynn’s costume so that they will stay more securely on him than fabric that will flop around more. Or you could buy a pair of kid’s suspenders and attach them to his costume. Those are just a couple of potential troubleshooting ideas that came to mind. ☺️
I am so thankful that you talked about your wedding in this vlog. Im getting married on Saturday, and I view the reception like a big dance party. I feel like there is a double standard cause everyone says its your day, do what you want, but then they get mad when you don't want flowers or a fancy venue. you saying you are happy with your decision makes me reassured in mine, so thank you :)
@@iAmMadeOfSoup that's probably why her views have changed. At the time, maybe she thought that's what she needed to do and now she's older and has new opinions. And that's ok 😊
A wedding is supposed to be a celebration of the couple, not the guests. I had to be selfish with my wedding and only invite a few people. I guess some family members were disappointed, but my husband and I both wanted a small intimate wedding. In the end, I decided since it was my wedding, I should have exactly what I wanted. I explained my reasons why most family members were not included, and didn't let myself feel bad about it. I loved my wedding, and wouldn't change a thing, that is all that matters.
You're curly hair is 😍😍😍 I think you should try to embrace it more! It's beautiful! Maybe you can try Brad Mondo's wavetech! I use it for my curly/wavy hair and it works awesome! Love you queen! 👏❤️
Totally agree with you about weddings. My sister just got married last weekend in my parents backyard and it was lovely! It was a small, intimate ceremony and it was very special. I thought it was perfect!
Yes let’s rant about how about how bad weddings are and some of the traditions are.. as if you didn’t have one yourself.. twice ( which you monetized by putting it on RUclips). Also I find it rude that you ranting (also again monetizing) about this when you just went and also shared going to a family members and Eric’s sibling wedding 😒
I think this might help with Flynn‘s car costume for the support if you use the purple coat you could add little hoops on the sides of the car and then make another waistband with a buckle and and put the waistband with the buckle through the loops and then it would be able to support his waste so it was not like moving around as much but make sure to make the waistband just a little loose so it’s not too tight on him Hope this helps. Hi wedding photographer here ✌ I hear this narrative alot that vendors in the wedding industry are taking advantage of couples and pushing them to spend more money then they should. So I wanted to give some better insight into this because most people don't have any idea of what goes on behind the scenes. Wedding vendors are incredibly devoted to their jobs. It takes A LOT of work! It is a physically and emotionally exhausting job. Couples are very demanding. There is alot of people pleasing involved. We also spend every weekend away from our own families, missing out on life events to be their for each couple. I just wanted to clarify that it is not the vendors ourselves. We deserve to be paid a fair wage for the large amount of time we have to invest into each couple (for perspective I work with most couples for on average 18 months and it takes about 40 hours or more to work on a finished wedding gallery for each couple not to mention the mandatory engagement session couples expect now). That's a lot of time to work with JUST ONE couple out of the many we serve so we should be paid for the amount of time we have to invest. The one's driving the wedding industry and setting unrealistic expectations are wedding websites (style me pretty, ruffled etc) as well as Pinterest and instagram. Couples go to these sites for ideas and build up unrealistic expectations in their minds and want to have luxury weddings like their favorite celebrities so it will look good on their Instagram feeds. That was alot of information but I just wanted to set the record straight. Most want to vilify wedding vendors when we're actually working for barely livable wages. It's exhausting to constantly have to justify that you deserve to be paid a wage to live on. In fact, most vendors I know, myself included, encourage our couples to be selective with their money and budget better. The anger at the wedding industry for being expensive is misplaced onto us when its really social media and style/lifestyle blogs that are driving people to spend more and more money.
I loved crafting when I was little, and now I'm a Pre-K teacher and I LOVE making crafts with my students. Every season/ holiday I incorporate crafting with writing their names, doing patterns, numbers etc. I'm known for my crafts with my class lol. I'm also a very sentimental person, and parents aren't getting the homemade crafts anymore. Therefore, I'm always making sure everything I make for my students to give to their parents is homemade. My mom has kept all of my stuff, and I know how happy that made her when we would bring home homemade things.
I'm getting married in a week and a half and you hit the nail on the head with the wedding talk. We're trying to go relatively cheap, but still have everyone together... It's just wild the amount of things people have tried to convince me I need. lol, everyone has an opinion... but at the same time everyone says "do whatever you want, it's your day" Anyway, we did what we wanted and kept it simple. If anything doesn't go as planned, that's fine, those might end up being the best memories

I agree with you whole heartedly! My oldest son's wedding cost us so much money 5 years ago, it was a lovely wedding and I was happy that they got the day that they wanted. However, my daughter is getting married on 10/30, very soon!, in my living-room with only our immediate family and their closest friends in attendance.
I also don’t think she will. She opens up a lot about her own personal life but tries to keep her family out of it. It did make me sad though when she was talking about how much she “hates” (loosely used) weddings because I feel like it stems from the big wedding she previously had. Most of the time you begin to dislike something because of a past traumatic experience.
I definitely agree with you when it comes to weddings. That’s why I prefer the much more non-traditional route just for you and your partner, or even a small wedding with a few friends and family! I think the spectacle of the “perfect wedding” is really overrated and not necessary. My best friend and her now husband had such a fun non-traditional wedding. It was much smaller, it was in our area and it was fantasy and renaissance themed, and literally just anything nerdy and the dress code consisted of cosplaying as any character in the sci-fi/fantasy/renaissance world and it was incredible and so much fun!! And still took a lot of planning but I can tell they both really enjoyed it fully, and weren’t stressing the whole time like people who try to have this “picture perfect traditional wedding” do. It was very memorable tooo.
I know she doesn't talk about it but Collen did have a big wedding and then a small wedding so I think her insight on how a small one is better is so nice
I was thinking the same! She can give her opinion on both because she’s literally done (and I assume paid for) both. However, this also means that she may have been less inclined to have another big wedding the second time around, because she’d already experienced the “white wedding” show.. You know? I do feel like her and Erik would have done the same small ceremony regardless of her past though, just based on what they’ve both said in past vlogs and such :)
Tortilla talk question: When you were pregnant with the twins, what did you do differently for your depression during pregnancy than you did while you were pregnant with Flynn? I had my son in 2018 and struggled with depression and just suffered silently just dismissing it for pregnancy hormones but watching you really helped me feel I wasn’t alone. I’m now expecting my second and I already feel the debilitating sadness sinking in. Any advice helps. I already took your advice to trying a new OB who will hopefully fit me better than my last one.
Sooo about the crafting thing- you should TOTALLY do some sort of crafting section of videos or even just like a crafting section of the vlog like "Colleens Craft Corner" would be so fun for the holidays. You can just do whatever you want though! Thats the fun in crafting! Doing whatever you want with minimum boundaries. I would love this for the holidays, i love crafting so much
We tried planning a traditional wedding in WY or CO and it was SO stressful and expensive that I ended up hating the whole thing. So we decided to do a destination wedding in Jamaica and it was the best decision we could've made. The ceremony and reception were included in our stay so we were able to fly out my parents and us for 7 days for $10k. What away to take the joy out of someone’s special day
I know she’s a B!
It’s about your father giving you away to another man to be your protector just like your father has been
Love how into crafts you are! Crafting is a huge part of my life too and I definitely use it to battle stress and ease anxiety. I feel like you need a cricut or silhouette or some other cutting machine. You could take things like costumes or props for your show to a whole new level!
Dont take this as rude! but didnt you have a big wedding (before Erik). Did that also contribute to your opinion on big weddings now?
your vlogs are my safe space, thank you for still doing them 🫶🏼🫶🏼
My mom is a therapist.
A possible solution for Flynns’ costume:
Try adding support straps perpendicular to the straps already placed, for example a strap with go across his chest to attach the two long straps together and another strap would go across his back horizontally to hold the two straps together.

Colleen how would you describe your perspective and opinion of your previous marriage and wedding? Im fairly sure I saw the video on RUclips years ago but it sounds like you never talk about it
there's a reason for it clearly. it's honestly pretty disrespectful to ask that
Was there anything about your big wedding that you did like that you missed doing at your small wedding?
There are so many good, noble, and IMPORTANT traditions of weddings. Especially when it comes to religions. It’s not about money or making people spend money. It’s about an eternal commitment! It’s a beautiful thing!
Yeah of course but not everyone goes along with that, so I think she is more speaking from the non religious perspective
@@imajoke7978 I totally agree/ see your point!

Also - your hair is absolutely gorgeous in this vlog. If this is what your natural, air-dried hair looks like you are so lucky!
Eye roll at “the history of weddings” OMG. Lmao. 🙄
Tortilla talk question… I’m probably the only one thinking this, but did you have the same thoughts when you had your first marriage ? Or did you change your thoughts because of that marriage?
TTQ: would erik be down to vlog for us for like a day? or it would be awesome when you’re on tour, he can vlog at home + your vlogs on tour!
This would be so fun! Even if it's not him "vlogging" but just taking videos and one of you could voiceover
your hair looks so pretty when it dries naturally!! I know you've talked about sometimes feeling insecure about your naturally curly hair but girl you look gorgeous
I forgot you were married before and had a whole wedding. I don’t blame you a single bit
But what about your first wedding?
Hearing the comments from people asking about weddings and if you like to craft made me think that you have a lot of newer viewers who might not know that you were married and had a big wedding before. Do you ever forget that you were married before Eric?
I came here to look for anyone to mention this. I'm surprised she didn't mention it at all lol.
Does she forget? Lol sorry but that was such a funny question…looks like she wants to forget
Fellow Crafter/Designer here! For the car stability, you maybe could put a bottom on the car and cut out a hole where his waist goes. Then Maybe add some foam padding around the insides of the circle to make it more comfortable for Flynn.
Another suggestion would be to add a right triangle to the back of the circle cut out, to develop a seat-back. you could also add some foam padding for this too. this method will keep the car from tipping forward, and assuming you use both of my suggestions, flynn can keep a couple peices of candy in the front area of the car, right under the hood😊
hope this helps!
your creativity with these costumes is so much fun to watch! more arts and crafts please!!
Yesss! So much hypocrisy!
I don’t understand. You are literally repeating what she just said. She said that if couples want to spend their money that’s alright and she didn’t want that for her and Erik. Also, she said that she liked going to weddings and enjoys the party time and all. She just doesn’t agree with the big pressure weddings imply.

Congrats!! Hope you have a great day😊
@@iAmMadeOfSoup that's probably why her views have changed.
Congratulations!!!!
The costume is so clever! Maisy talking is so adorable!
I totally agree about all the wedding stuff! Especially the part about saving the money for your life together instead of blowing it all for one day!
Still want a tortilla talk question about what Erik and Korys relationship is like please! Lol
I think this might help with Flynn‘s car costume for the support if you use the purple coat you could add little hoops on the sides of the car and then make another waistband with a buckle and and put the waistband with the buckle through the loops and then it would be able to support his waste so it was not like moving around as much but make sure to make the waistband just a little loose so it’s not too tight on him
Hope this helps. Alivia

You already had a big wedding once, so it makes sense that you didn't want another one.
I'm with you on the wedding talk.
It's cool to hear your opinions and your experiences. ✌️
And Maisie talking to the limes was adorable!
It's just wild the amount of things people have tried to convince me I need. lol, everyone has an opinion... but at the same time everyone says "do whatever you want, it's your day"
Anyway, we did what we wanted and kept it simple. If anything doesn't go as planned, that's fine, those might end up being the best memories
Congratulations!! Hope the best for you on your wedding day and your marriage! ❤

@@jordenalexis3106 or she has moved on and doesn’t want to look back on the past because there is no reason to
For what purpose really? They’re both remarried, she has a whole family. And I don’t think she feels it respectful to talk about him anyway
I also don’t think she will. She opens up a lot about her own personal life but tries to keep her family out of it. It did make me sad though when she was talking about how much she “hates” (loosely used) weddings because I feel like it stems from the big wedding she previously had. Most of the time you begin to dislike something because of a past traumatic experience.
most people dont want to relive trauma of their abusive relationships and thats okay
Love Colleen's vlogs
That Yellow dress Erik got you is so lovely!! and the red plaid one is so you. Nice choice 👌

Maybe you don’t like weddings cus your first marriage didn’t work out
We tried planning a traditional wedding in WY or CO and it was SO stressful and expensive that I ended up hating the whole thing. So we decided to do a destination wedding in Jamaica and it was the best decision we could've made. The ceremony and reception were included in our stay so we were able to fly out my parents and us for 7 days for $10k. It was intimate and so easy, and the honeymoon was built in (and it ended up being a honeymoon for my parents too since they never had one!)
