One can make something new. One can make something fresh or push boundaries. I like to listen to 'new' angles. It's all hidden in this one, but the blend of different styles will take time for me to understand and fully appreciate.
Well, genre defying is a bit of an understatement I'd say. I kind of had an idea where this was going when the first band mentioned was The Dillinger Escape Plan. There were parts in there that I really liked but as a whole I'm not sure. If a band's going to go all out like this there, for me, has to be a bit more order in the chaos so to speak. Granted - this is apparently their third album so good for them that they're doing what they want and getting rewarded for it!
Some proggy stuff at least sounds like it belongs together in one song, but this is the side of prof that somehow doesn't. It's almost like an ideas board of cool bits a band want to fit into a song one day and they just put it all together in the one song. Obviously the individual bits show talent and I can recognise that, but overall I just cant listen to it
I'm pretty sure that all PR releases are now ChatGPT generated with a verbosity setting on max. And metal pop rocks sound painful. When I saw the title for your video I was thinking, well, I think I know Hedgy's general opinion of thrash. OK, the song didn't do much for me, and I think it may be the chorus vocals that remind me of pop metal bands. At least the last few minutes of the video confirmed for me that I don't have epilepsy.
To borrow a line from the 80s comedy classic Not the Nine O'Clock News - 'Great video, shame about the song.' Personally, I'm drawn towards melody and structure in any genre of music that I listen to and while originality is a very difficult thing to achieve these days, there are bands that can come up with music that is structured, melodic and original. I'm sure this band has talent and technical skill in spades but I'm afraid it's a 'no' from me.

4th album for them they do have 5 albums but they don’t ever talk about the first album so they say they this is only there 4th album
they used to be on tour with animals as leaders
Listen to abysm
this shit is out there.
guitar tone really sounds like polyphia.
I think this is awesome. It’s like those instrumental bands like Animals as leaders but the vocals makes it not boring.
Somehow “almost” everything that the PR team said was wrong about the band
Sometimes I wonder if PR companies listen to songs or albums before writing about them.
