I fit LP Shell Protectors on my Valje’s they really keep the tuning lugs nice and straight. Thanks for the other cleaning tips. I am cleaning up a 3312 tumba now and it looks so much better now.
I no know one will probly c this. But after u would tape off the crack. U could add the epoxy to the inside of the drum and then grab a shop vacuum and put it on the outside of the crack. Amd it will suck the glue all the way through
Wow, the difference is amazing! I'm going to do this on my chrome hardware. By the way, for us old-timers (not you), the steel wool would be called 4-ott, the ott meaning zero. But, now...you can't tease us with the "Corvette project" and not show and tell us more! I'll be waiting...pleeese? Thanks for all you do, Kalani!
4-ott makes sense. Thanks for the old-timey tip! The full Corvette project is being documented on my other channel (Unboxed). I know it sounds like an unboxing channel, but it's not. I put all my car and motorcycle stuff over there.
Kalani, I love you, man. But steel wool scratches chrome. I've restored lots of drums, and steel wool is a no no for me. If you compare a steel wool cleaned part with a part cleaned by other, non abrasive methods, the steel wool part will lack the original luster. The best method I've found is warm water and aluminum foil. Aluminum is soft and will not scratch the chrome. Steel wool is harder than the chrome and abrades it. Others will disagree, I'm sure, but try it for yourself. There is a difference.
Thanks for the info. I agree that Steel Wool "can" scratch chrome, but if you use the very fine stuff, it doesn't - as far as I can tell. I've been removing rust spots on some chrome parts with the 0000 steel wool and it works great. That being said, I agree that using aluminum foil or other non-abrasive methods is probably the BEST way to go and safest for the chrome. I appreciate the tip! Great video! If you polish again in the future, try a little strip of parchment paper between the tape and the decal to protect it.
Very helpful, thank you bro!!

I have a drum with gold colored hardware , can I use the same products to clean it ?
I’m wondering the same thing
Use Never-Dull. A chemically-treated cotton that is non-abrasive, unlike steel wool. Walmart carries it in hardware.
I think I have used that on my motorcycles. It works great. More of a polish, but it does take off some small rust spots.
