  • Ray Kurzweil is an inventor, thinker, and futurist famous for forecasting the pace of technology and predicting the world of tomorrow.
In this video, Kurzweil predicts when he thinks we’ll get programmable matter-or the ability to manipulate everyday objects at the atomic level-and what that means not just for the things around you, but for you as a person.
According to Kurzweil, beginning with virtual reality in the digital realm and moving into the physical with programmable matter, people will make themselves into avatars of other people, or even each other.

wow it almost seems unimaginable to think that programmable matter in the way he describes will be possible but those techy geniuses definitely know their shit so hats off to them! :-)

If technology is progressing as fast as predicted by kurzweil than by 2100 we would definitely colonize neighboring solar systems, it's at this point the humans may also diverged in different species !

I always wonder if Mr Kurzweil himself is alive (natural, organic entity) or a simulated program or cyborg like creature!

so what you're saying is that we can just skip from genetically engineered catgirls straight to catgirls?

Great Video!. Our future will be Glorious.
I reiterate what I said in another post: Futurist, Google Director of Technology Ray Kurzweil is a Genius! He's in a sphere with Einstein!
I believe and opine: We will achieve programming matter by 2117!
The following Haiku poem in congratulatory honor of that Coming Great Day! I follow the traditional Japanese format: 1) No title; 2) Exactly, 17 syllables totat; 3) Three segments and 4) A 5-7-5 syllables segments ratio.
    Ray Kurzweil, Genius!
    Predicts a Great, Good Future!
    Program Matter, Yes!

Why not have the units that compose the programmable matter be able to compute and replicate? If it were able to, you could use some variation of moravec transfer where you plant some sort of "seed" into the brain of a subject, where they would disperse and form communication with each other and neurons. Extra brain power and your mind in a swarm of polymorphic nanobots. Basically become a superintelligent AI with your entire body able to act as a CPU and program it to self improve. Basically become AC from the last question

Biological immortality will be possibly by 2050-60s. Nanobots will be approved for use on humans under heavy guidelines by that point to reverse the effects of aging and remove all diseases from us indefinitely, genetic or otherwise. Whether those in your family live this long is up in the air however. Age, accidents, diseases, many things could cut life short by then.

The end of materialism era, you no longer need to buy things to earn something, therefore an entire economic and social system would finish. Probably quantum computers will be able to use this technology
