Thanks for this vid. I got an eBay switch (cheap so may not last). My territory was doing the same thing. Clicking past the spring-return-section. At this stage the new switch fixed it. Don't forget the spring... And dob a bit of dielectric grease on before assembly.
Hi there, I just a query here, when you pulled out the new switch out from the box it looked brand new with no markings (for example: the black casing looked shinny as it should, but your missing a coiled spring also may I add, that was to be in the center of the unit) when you went to match it up, where you were matching up the clips, it looked like you had another used switch ( a total of 3 switche's) and installed that used one, as it had white paint marking on it where as the original switch you removed had a yellow pen/paint marking on it. I was just supprized, was that also faulty? I'm not having a shot at what your doing, don't get me wrong as it's great to see yourself having a go at it and it's very educational. I was just wondering thats all.
Mine is starting to the same thing (FG Jun/2011). At least now I know not to bother with a new switch section. I'm just going go the FPV route and install a push button starter switch instead. Thanks for the heads-up, mate!
I had the same issues. Replacing the ignition barrel and or the ignition back switch didn't help. The problem was resolved only when I replaced steering column
Yep, I was hoping your switch replacement would work, I have been told it is an issue with the key side and you have to replace the top part of the steering column to replace the key barrel movement,
I know this is an old video but for anyone whos still looking for answer the ignition switch should come with a little spring which mine did and made it all alot tight but maybe could still be wrong
The fault is in the switch housing, it’s behind the switch that he replaced, only a small part but hard to fix if you don’t know a lot about cars. I should make vids for these.
Perhaps fitting an aftermarket press button start is the next option; one of these www.ebay.com/itm/12V-Car-Engine-Start-Push-Button-Switch-Ignition-Starter-Kit-Blue-LED-Switch-/222574069483?epid=857389466&hash=item33d272c6eb:g:FbQAAOSwrhBZCvEu&vxp=mtr You haven't got the second key fob in the car too, have a magnet item (e.g. magnet badge) on the key ring or close to it, or fitted anything to the car that might be creating a magnetic field (e.g. a speed scanner detector) have you?
Even though this didn't work it shows what to skip , so cheers for putting it up still. 👍😊
Good onya mate for having a go. I too will have to go down this path soon.

I'd hate to be your neighbour with those bloody dogs.
Thanks very much for the video. It has confirmed I need a aftermarket repair kit. Footage of the disassembly really handy. Thanks again!

Same problem thanks for the help, it now starts each time. 2008 Ute
thankyou for your efforts in trying to fix the problem and uploading the video anyway. It has been helpful

Has to be wear in key barrel ?
T10 is a Torx size 10 if you didn't know. Bad luck man, that's an expensive attempted fix that did not work by part replacement that at $300+.
Hi great vid I'm having the same problem did you find a solution ?
Yep, I was hoping your switch replacement would work, I have been told it is an issue with the key side and you have to replace the top part of the steering column to replace the key barrel movement,
The part number for this item is an OLD one, the New one is 8R2Z 11572A.
Thank you good sir, very useful.
Seriously how can engineers not get an ignition switch right in this day and age?!
Ask ford, so many of them have faults , then the inside door handles brakes. They did it to make more money.
Fridgemusa The car will probably have hundreds on thousands of kms on it, It’s a wear item like any other car
Carefull of the spring inside. Place it in the column and gently push new switch in. Will let you know how it goes. Works fine atm
Could it possibly be the key itself? Over time they get worn on the tip also
Tks mate, my 2008 territory has thr same issue
2008 territory ignition switch not same as owners, must difficult to replace.
I know this is an old video but for anyone whos still looking for answer the ignition switch should come with a little spring which mine did and made it all alot tight but maybe could still be wrong
Gold, loved it m8 good on ya 4 havin a go
So what ended up being the issue ?
At least it starts every time
Mine tends to have fits sometimes and I have to rebuke it to start!
cuz those dogs r so fkn annoying
it worked for me thanks
Where can you buy the kit from and what is it called?
do you know how to pop off the left knee trim under steering wheel?
I’m having the same issue with my fg but today wouldn’t start at all. Mine is dedicated lpg is yours?
Did you find out what the problem was my fg
is doing the same
Hey mate where did you buy your part from?
notice is auto, inhibitor switch on side of gearbox will cause fault
I am having the same problem with my FG.
So how did you fix the problem?
The fault is in the switch housing, it’s behind the switch that he replaced, only a small part but hard to fix if you don’t know a lot about cars. I should make vids for these.
Instructions not clear.
Dog was barking.
What dog?
That dog what's up
The dogs .. seriously 😒
Putting too much weight in your key ring is also cause this problem.
maybe the key barell thing
I swear mine has this problem and I havnt looked at it for months.
Its giving me the shits not driving a car.

That not a bad idea, less work then fixing this factory build problem
:)
Great Video, pity about the dogs in the background.
Fark
Dogs need to be put in another room.
