Glad it helped
Your Videos are great keep it up!
Thanks, will do!
Thank you for this
Your video title "Adding USB Drive with Data to Proxmox 7 Walk Through" but you wipe the drive. I want to keep the data. I don't understand what you are doing.
i'm fairly new to Proxmos, and trying to get a qcow2 image to lvm. however, the speed you doing i dont understand anything. you copy paste without explaining at the speed of light. unusable for me
I have mounted a 5tb external hdd on my proxmox machine, i have write permissions on the host machine, but i wanted to be able to write data from my containers to the drive so i created mount points to the containers however i can’t write anything to that directory, just read. Do you have a solution for this?
I have seen some comments on a different video that i did with people having this problem I plan to setup a CT and do some testing later this week. Thanks for the comment.
You might have to enable "privileged mode." of your container
Worked great. I reinstalled proxmox, i can still see the drive under disks but can't add a directory and restore from backups? Any ideas? Thanks!
try running ls -l of the folder and see the promotions
@@virtualizeeverything thanks for the reply. I found I have to mount it via the shell when a drive has already been mounted. Nice and quick to do and I’m back up. I had some issues with proxmox freezing after a 7-> 8 upgrade.
@@Joel-xf9tl i has problems with vms freezing had to change the cpu type on one of my older systems it was running a bulldozer APU
did you add the drive to fstab?
I am using it otherwise. I create a zfs instead of Directory. Then a dataset needs to be created from cli in order to be able to store backups (otherwise you re stack with VMs and containers). I am taking the backup and then (not sure though of the proper steps to unmount the zfs from both Datacenter->storage first and then from Node->Storage) connect the external drive to another prox node and I set it there as a storage as well. Then I just restore the backup from there.
Ps easier way would be to just add those two nodes to a cluster and then just transfer the VM but in order to avoid all flood messages when I have one of the nodes down and also have an odd number of nodes for the votes etc I prefer to do it this way.
Edit:a quick correction, after creating the zfs drive you just go to the datacenter and create a directory there by giving it a name and as Directory=put there the mount point which you can find from cli by typing zfs list
just like a lab in school I make a video hoping that you build on what i am showing it sounds like you are doing just that. Thanks for the comment.
nice shout out to your blog which you dont include in your drop down
I am going to have to fix that. Thank you
