I am a former combat medic and I suffered a traumatic brain injury from a mortar rocket attack in Mosul, Iraq in 2007. I would eventually be diagnosed with severe PTSD and I attempted to numb myself, but all I did was make things worse for myself by becoming an addict. Almost ten years passed of hell on earth for me until I found art two years ago. It has saved my life and given me purpose, and I will forever be grateful while remaining it’s greatest advocate.
God bless you sir. I have two military sons. I pray every day for the sons, sisters, husbands, wives, fathers. mothers and friends who have served and still serve and who stand between us and our enemies of freedom. We owe you our eternal gratitude. I hope you are doing well and I wish you a serene and peaceful life through art. I know art has helped me cope when my sons are deployed. Only those who can get fully involved in the making of art will understand it.

My youngest son is serving out his 20 years service in the Army as a DI at fort Benning Ga. he served 3 tours of Iraq and Afghanistan...he went over a boy and came back a changed man. him son. My father served in WW11 the Ardenne Forest 🌳 campaign, 82nd airborne, then Korea, and then Vietnam ...he served 27 years. Army The Big Red one was his last Post. in Fort Riley....so I’m from a military family. I just missed Vietnam myself. I waited Classified 1A....thank you to all that serve and blessing to those that are gone before us. My dad is still alive at 96 years old...hard to believe he’s still very active....the vets from that war are almost gone...

It's strange that Drew Cameron points out that papermaking is very ancient, dating to 105 A.D., yet fails to mention the Chinese origin of this art; while pointing out that the use of garments in papermaking some 700 years later is of Arab and Middle Eastern origin. True, they are using garments in this video, but it would make sense to note the origins of the art itself. I have seen this pattern for other inventions and innovations described in American shows (I am an American btw); Europeans and others do not seem to have as much of a problem admitting that the Chinese have made contributions. I do think the declining relations between the US and China over the past ten years has something to do with it. I would hope that artists, artisans and intellectuals would not be so affected by political biases.
Saddle maker needs an awl for to prime holes for stitching and a fork. Those pliers and ruinous to needles and will make for some serious carpel tunnel. And HAND tools for punching holes? The proper table mounted tool for that is NOT that expensive. Work smarter not harder.
TJ Duprey He said he learned everything from his grandmother, and she obviously did things mostly likely the self taught and hard way. If you had acknowledged these things first then recommended what you had learned or had been taught during your roaring 20’s heyday, you wouldn’t have come across so, well... bitchy. Demonstrate empathy stop patronizing.
He says repeatedly he does it the traditional way. Sometimes slow is better. Emotion wise, and mentally . Faster is not always the better way. I can crank out many quilts by machine ,it becomes a question of quantity . Faster and better for my hands but the ones I took the time to hand stitch have a piece of my soul in each one. As his tack has a piece of him in each piece. He has been doing it for years. Pretty sure he is still doing it .
