ok it makes sense it terms of "breaking the streak" but if your only goal is to win as many coin flips as you can in the casino - there's no point, as you don't effect the probability of winning the coin toss and it's always 50/50.

    • @rud5101

@J Gav I think the fact that you play on your phone *until* a certain streak happens kinda invalidates the math.

If you play advantage, the casinos actively find ways to try to kick out out. They often don't even care how immoral the methods they take to kick people out are. I've heard of some pretty bad horror stories from advantage players. Which is why I like to stick to poker and play black jack occasionally at places I know I will never go to again.

In both Craps and Blackjack I’ve found that my banking stradegy is way more important than anything else. When I begin to win, i pocket (my buddy and I call it rat holing) my initial bank. If I keep winning I pocket black chips and continue to play with my winnings. When I lose whatever is in the rail or on the table, I leave. The hard part is not returning. I won’t until the next day. If I lose my initial bankroll right away, I’m done for that day.

Approximately … (did you catch that secret word “Approximately?) … 52 Percent of the time you sit at a table you will never be “Up” from your initial “buy-In” amount. However - I do remember Benny Binions Horseshoe before there were table “Maximum” limits, when in theory if you had a big enough bankroll and started out with a $2 bet ( or a relatively low amount in relation to your starting bankroll ) that you in theory, could . Don’t fall down that hole, i hated gambling until I was 21, went to a casino with a group of friends for his bday and ended up hitting a hot streak over a week. Needless to say overall I’m down massively to the casino and developed a life long addiction to blackjack. I only gamble for fun now with the hopes of making a couple hundred bucks per trip, I also try not to spend more than 1 to 1.5 hours in a casino anymore, quickest I left was after I went up $300 after 15 mins but the problem is besides the money, you get addicted to the adrenaline of playing blackjack so even though I was up and left my “addiction” wasn’t anywhere close to satisfied. You also get desensitized to gambling large amounts of money per hand, the chips really disassociate it from real money and next thing you know you’re playing $100-300 hands as a gambler and not an AP. The worst thing that can happen to a person that’s never gambled before is hitting big on their first trip.

There is one other aspect of this though. By not pushing wins and taking a smaller profit each day you can prolong the amount of time before you get banned as a card counter. As a floor supervisor in a Midwest casino, I only saw one card counter who was known as an advantage player but was still allowed to play. The reason management didn't stop him is because he played until he won 300 to 500 and then left. He would do this a couple of times each week. This literally went on for years.

The odds are still the odds, and at the basic game, they are 50.5% in the casino's favor. When you play a winning game of blackjack with a 1% advantage, it is like winning 101 hands and losing 99. You will be ahead by 2 hands out of every 200.
This means that you cannot avoid the losing hands as they will almost cancel out the winning hands. There is no way to avoid having the losing hands even though it can make you feel upset that have had a big losing session.
Oh just have to realise that your early days of blackjack may mean your results will dip below zero. In a worst case scenario, you may have to play for up to 1500 to 2000 hours before your results overall get over the line and start to become positive.
At the start of my bj play, I lost $7,000 on a red chip spread for 300 hours of play. I wondered if there was something I wasn’t doing right. Later I learned that 300 hours is not enough for the winning hands to balance out the losing hands.
I returned to the table and subsequently went on a winning streak of $40,000 and remained at this level of win for 100 hours. Then I went on a losing streak of $30,000 to be up only $3000.
I really had to sit back and take stock of what had occurred. Finally I realised that the $3000 dollars I was up at that point, was the normal ev for my bet spread at those hours so everything was actually on track!

That being said, since each event is a separate event just as each card hand is a separate event, the probability that you will have a winning day is the same as it was the day before. If you are up a few hundred dollars at ANY point and walk away, it is the same opportunity any other day.

If you play with blackjack all you will ever get is play money.
If you treat it like a business then it will reward you handsomely.
Remember, other people pay huge taxes on their incomes, but as a winning blackjack player with a win rate of say, $50 an hour, who plays 25 hours a week, that’s a tax free income of $1250 per week. And if you can get away with a bigger bet spread, that could easily be 100 to $200 an hour winrate.

You’ll lose more hands then you win but the profitable players win more when they’re winning and lose less when they’re losing… just my 2 cents been gambling profitably for 3 years now

I play blackjack and craps and only with between $350 and $400 at each casino. However, i play at five to six casinos per week. I have made big money playing craps in a couple of days but, those are not close together. I made $14,000 profit at one casino and $18,000 at another, playing craps and blackjack. The $14,000 was at a brick and mortar, over two days and the $18,000 was over five days aboard a cruise ship.
I have made my living in casinos since the 1990s, with mostly craps but, peppering in blackjack, so I'm always interested in new casino techniques to win.

Some of the stories were hilarious and shocking and it was a fun read and I have to admit towards the end it even had me in tears particularly on your philosophy on family and people being enjoyed and money being used. • @tylerdurden639
    @tylerdurden639 2 года назад +7

You explained the statistics of a coin flip pretty accurately. The intent is to have a coin that is a 52-48 lopsided coin. Given a massive timeline, your play will become so positive that you will have 0% chance of ruin. The objective is to play in a way that will get you to that massive timeline. Which means that being backed off... *EVEN ONCE* means that your play is not subtle enough to ever get to that massive timeline/theory of large numbers. I have played for roughly three years in Vegas without ever being backed off.
If you are ever backed off from playing, then you need to seriously take a look at how you are playing... Because if you do it right, you are never suspected of being a counter.

    • @tylerdurden639
      @tylerdurden639 2 года назад +14

@@randomperson6215 You need to play like you are a normal blackjack player, not a card counter. The BlackJack Apprentice teaches a betting method that is almost psychotic in nature, based on another RUclipsr who detailed his experiences as a BlackJack counter under BJA's tutelage. Watching those videos as a counter, two things were glaringly obvious.
      1) BJA knows how to count cards
      2) BJA does NOT know what subtle means. His bets would give him away every time.
The only people who would bet like he does when counting cards are card counters. I played for almost 3 years without ever getting backed off once.
Play like someone with a betting system. Place a base bet (1 unit) and play like your system says to play. If you win and the count still warrants a larger bet then raise your bet, Bet 2 units (Let it ride). If that wins and the count is still good, let it ride again. Then go back to base bet of 1 unit and pocket half your winnings.
Contrary to what BJA would recommend, this method will win money, especially in the long run because you will be able to play indefinitely.
My recommendation is to play no more than three shoes at a time. Start at the beginning of a shoe, or WONG IN when the count is good.
Playing from the start of a shoe is REALLY common, and watching a few hands is also OK too.
If it is busy, then look for a table with only 1 maybe 2 players and sit there. Or better yet, find a location with less action. Really late, and really early are two good times you can find empty tables. In Vegas, this is found at casinos downtown or off the strip. Play during the late morning and early afternoon. Three shoes tops.
Stick and Move as Apollo Creed taught Rocky.
I wish you well, no matter what system you use or how you bet. Sorry BJA, but I can't endorse your way of betting as I understand it.

BUT, think of it as the coin is being flipped 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and you are entering and leaving a coin flip after hundreds or thousands of flips before you sat down at the table. So, you're not looking to be up 6 flips heads after 2 days JUST when you're there to see the flips... you're looking to walk away when you're up 3 flips of heads during that session of flips which were thousands of flips after your yesterdays flips.

Yes, you will be screwed, which is why you shouldn't even be playing Blackjack. Why play a game where you could have a winning hand and end up turning it into a losing hand, such as hitting a hard 12 and busting, only to see the dealer turn over a 6 under his King? Just give Baccarat a try and see if you don't like the odds better. In Baccarat, the outcome of every hand is determined the moment the cards are cut at the beginning of the shoe. With a fair-sized bankroll (3 times table max) it is a cakewalk to turn a profit EVERY TIME.

The only reason that you count cards and play blackjack is because you can actually generate a positive EV. With the continuous shuffler you can't gain a significant EV because you don't have a useful history to work off of. And as far is the reply post about baccarat, that's ridiculous. You're operating on a negative EV, just like every other house game.

the dstrategy chart is very important .... on the casino i cant count cards because the card are always mixed so i will stay with strategy chart only......
my advice are.... and correct me if i am wrong
you never play over an amount of time.... for me 2 hours is ok
after 2 hours you play with more mistakes and you give the opportunity to the casino to win over you
always go with a specific amount of money.... for example 200$ (€ for me)
never change the bet .... for example if you start with 10$ bet you finish with 10$ bet (rise only with split and double)
always enjoy the game .... helps focusing
the money on your wallet considered them lost

Context of question here: the issue with card counting/ basic strategy is not the wins and losses it's actually getting caught by the "eyes in the sky." You can only play soooo long before you get noticed. My question is: using math and statistics and basic strategy "what strategies can you use in your favor to NOT get noticed?" A few thoughts come to mind: using the math you have shown what if you "intentionally lose when on a losing streak," "bet/gamble to achieve a certain goal to cover monthly expenses plus some profit," or " betting certain ways to show you are not a counter."

I'm a small time gambler on a fixed income that's retired. I tried BJ about 4 years ago and averaged $22 per play over a 3-4 month period. Perhaps 2-3 times per week. Since in my State the nearest casinos are 30, 35 and 40 miles away in opposite directions I decided to quit.
Now I'm back at it. I've been averaging $40 per play over a 2 month period. I'm working on a strategy on how to increase my minimum and maximum bets safely. It's not as simple as it sounds since I normally only play on average about a half an hour per session. I have been doing that slowly with some success. My goal right now is to get that average up to about $80 - $100 per play. Besides the basic strategy, it's the discipline that's very important. I set rules for myself and have to stick to them. I grade my play after every session. Not so much as wins and losses but my strategy.

Haven't watched the video yet but strictly speaking as someone in the industry, the biggest winners I have witnessed ride the variance up and down and leave when they are ahead. Good money management and playing short periods of time before the edge can burn you over time is a winning strategy. Whether it's $600 a hand or $10,000 a hand. You don't have to be up 3 hands, just one. They lose of course but they tread water just enough to surface with a profit and then they leave. I have seen people up 300k over 6 months, not counting. The Casinos will usually tell them their action is just too good and back them off as a business decision.
Dana White is a notable example of this method. He wrecks casinos simply with money management. And a sizeable bankroll, of course.

@@esparpos5543 Just watched it. I hate to say it but the concept is flawed. You arent hoping for 91 heads up in a row. You flip a coin every day and make a conscious decision to leave on heads, for say, 91 days. That is how you obtain 91 heads up.
The common method of counting is never consider money management, generate as much EV as possible, rack up hours, and eventually the math will work out. Thats fine. If you leave on a loss however because you want a couple extra playing hours that is against logic though.
The only argument against money management is it limits your potential gains by walking away early. Not true. Set a threshold, say you're up $500. You keep playing but if you are down to only being up $300, you walk. This way you leave on a profit while not limiting your expected value and hours played.
Run it through a simulation because it works I see it every day. The 50/50 coin flip graph does not represent what is happening.

A professional player is not interested in trying to limit losses on a daily basis. If he/she has the bankroll, they realise that every shoe they play is building ev even if the count is negative all the way though the shoe.
Even when the count is positive, you only have a slightly increased probability of winning the next hand. You are by no means certain to win the next hand.
If you go on a losing streak, the pit bosses will remember that about you and may off comps to get you to come back and play some more.
However when you do bounce back at that casino, win a little and move on so your winning doesn’t stand out!
Eventually you will win more that you lose in many shorter sessions, but everyone will remember you as being a big loser and that is exactly the cover you want.
The early days of bj are the hardest as you learn to trust in the maths. It is hard to understand that although you have just had a session where you lost $500, you have built up more ev than your buddy who didn’t play at all.

@@skyedge3407 What's happening in real life is you have a huge sample of people that are attempting to make money by playing a losing game. Some of them get rich, but most of them don't. The casino makes money on average, the player loses money on average. It's like the lottery, there will be people that win. It doesn't make playing the lottery a good idea.
Casino staff that ban winning gamblers are running into the same fallacy as everyone else and ruining their own casino's action because they don't understand math. But oh well, it's so easy to make money running a casino that they don't really have to care to squeeze every dollar out of everyone. And technically it's more likely that the winning players are APs (or worse, cheaters) than that the losing players are - so you could also call that "better safe than sorry".

The whole point is to be up and beating the casino, as long as you are making cash. I don't see the problem if you're willing to leave right away if you make a days pay or week in a few minutes to hrs. So what's the point? If it's how much you didn't have before, leave before it's too late. That greed or ego will get in the way.

The heads or tails coin flip analogy in this video is incorrect. With a coin flip, there is no way to intercede in the only two outcomes of the flip, it's either heads or tails. In blackjack, there are multiple ways to intercede in the outcome: knowledge, experience, stupidity, frustration, and, above all, how the deck was shuffled.

  • @Billionaireben

Probably the closest to this I'd do, I go to a baccarat table and wait until I feel like I predict the winning hand; if I fail on the first 3 tries then I leave for the day. My best day, I predicted almost all of close to 60 hands; but I lost 2/3 of big hands. When I finally won a big hand (ie after building up to have that cash on me, I didn't have a lot of cash with me) I quit for the day knowing I wasn't winning those big hands. The reason I got so many wins was it hit a streak of back and forth that I went along with but didn't bet much on those and won $10 each on them. If a skilled craps player hit a losing streak, I would tell them to work the kinks out in free practice and come back when throwing well; though some don't believe it's possible and that's fine. Blackjack should be predictable, in a deep deck game (1 deck, dealt deep) it's more predictable than a shoe; though you can still get that 1-2% advantage.

So a related question. CVData will tell you the range of probable results. So say the range is given at an upper end of 90 units (just pulled that out of thin air) given a set amount of time (and we all have time constraints) and you reach 90 units at some point in your play, though you have more time allocated to play. Since the statistics say you'e unlikely to win more and you're likely to "go backwards", would it make sense to end the session? It would seem the math would say that getting up at this point wouldn't "hurt".

I think it was Jimmy The Greek who said about blackjack to get up if you lose 3 in a row and find another table. That's how you find a table trending for you. If that's inconvenient that's tough. And again I did a 200 buy in and walked out with 500 bucks. I was shocked and just full of great luck for 2 days straight.. have not been back since lol.
