You can dispense hot water via steam wand (Hey. The bambino plus has a hidden hot water dispenser function. I found the instructions in the Sage manual for the Aus version, wasn't sure it would work on mine. It does. Raise the steamwand, press one cup and the froth control button simultaneously. The machine will dispense hot water, and you can get it to stop by pressing 1 cup) Thats it :)
It doesn't work on my Sage. There only comes water where the portafilter is. It is also difficult to shut the machine off - by pressing one shot and steam simulatiously. Most it starts the steam or pouring instead.
@@mikaeljakobsson8288 try to press the milk forth button and hold it then press the single shot button , make sure the milk wand is pointing out not down .
@@mikaeljakobsson8288 I just tested it on my Sage Bambino Plus and it does work - but what's important is that you're pressing the milk froth button. The milk froth button means the button that changes the amount of froth in the milk, it doesn't mean the milk steaming button. I tried it the other day and couldn't get it to work, but that was because I pressed the milk steaming button. I thought that's what people here meant when they said the froth button. I tried it again just now with the milk froth level button, and it worked. I did find I had to hold both buttons for a second or two though, rather than just press them. I also had the steam wand pointing out and into a pitcher.
@@Coffee_Kev Is there any reason why you use "external" water and don't just take a hot shot of water from the machine itself (without the portafilter)?
mainly because the group doesnt dispense water quite as hot as a kettle would, but also I would think this would be putting additional wear on the pump. Cheers
Page 13 of the manual says if you press 1 CUP and the MILK FROTH buttons at the same time, hot water will come out from the wand directly. I tried and it WORKED! The manual didn’t say you have to pull out the wand (i.e. not in straight down position) to activate the function. Try it! It’s even quicker!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video, above and beyond what would be expected. We have now bought the machine and have been using it at home for lattes until our Land Rover build is ready, which is about 3 months. You can have a peek at our channel for some teaser trailers of our project, its a true world first! The first ever Land Rover Discovery 130 Solid Walled lifting off-road camper.
No worries 👍😎. Wow that sounds cool, I've subscribed to your channel, red lady looks stunning, can't wait to see her finished! Pity the Bambino doesnt come in red 🤣
Really enjoying watching your vids on the Breville Bambino! We just got ours almost 3 weeks ago, and your vids have helped me a lot! Enjoying our cappuccinos and lattes on the bambino, thanks to you! Saying Hi all the way from Alaska!
That's a valid method too of course. The only benefits I can see of this method I've just demonstrated over simply dispensing from the group, is you dont use water from the tank, so less filling the water tank, and you can get the water hotter this way that it'll come out of the group at. Cheers.
Just want to confirm that what someone else said about being able to dispense hot water via the steam wand is true. Press and hold both the 1 cup button, and the milk foam level button. Note: Other people just call it the "milk froth" button but it's important not to get confused. You're not pressing the milk steaming button, you're pressing the one that changes the amount of foam. Hot water should start coming out of the steam wand. (I believe the wand may need to be pointing out first) Press any button on the machine to stop the hot water. For some reason this is in the Breville manual on page 13, but completely omitted from the Sage manual (I double checked both online and in my own Sage Bambino Plus manual, and there's no mention of it anywhere)
I’m waiting for my Bambino plus and wonder if using my kettle would be more efficient anyways. If I start the kettle first, then grind my coffee, prep, then pull my shot, my kettle should me near done. Looking forward to finding out on my new machine. Cheers.
Hello from Belgium :-) I just purchased this week the Sage Bambino Plus to complement my Smart Grinder Pro, and I guess I have a good combination to start training myself as novice barista ! I just watched all your videos on the machine, and got one question. You said you recomment to use the standard basket instead of the double wall but what do you mean exactly? I checked in the box and only double wall and single wall elements are provided, so what do you mean by standard basket? Sorry for the dumb question it's perhaps lost in translation as well.
Nice little demonstration, Kev. I am currently playing with my Bambino plus in combination with the Niche zero and after some trial and error today I was quite happy with my single shot from the single wall basket. I’ll try the Americano tomorrow. The one thing I am not so happy about is that the temperature of the coffee seems to be on the lower end of the spectrum. I also saw other comments of users complaining about the low temperature. Is that your experience, too?Have you ever measured the coffee temperature coming from the BP?
Thanks Thomas :-). Doh, keep meaning to do that - I will remember to take the thermometre to the studio with me tomorrow... I've been happy with the espresso temp though, haven't noticed them being cool. Are you heating up all the internals by running some hot water through the group after it heats up? I usually run at least a couple of shots worth of water through the group, with the portafilter in, into the cup - so I'm warming up the portafilter, the group etc., and the cup at the same time. I'll reply tomorrow once I've measured the temp. Cheers, Kev.
I am sorry, but I believe you forgot to read the manual. There IS a hot water function, much easier than steaming the water with the wand. 1. Lift wand. 2. Press one cup and froth buttons together. 3. Press any button to stop.
He didn't forget to read the manual. I have the same manual as him and it's not in there. He's in the UK, where the brand is Sage. In the Breville Bambino Plus manual, this information is on page 13. However in the Sage Bambino Plus manual this information isn't actually anywhere in the entire manual. On page 12 you can find the same as your page 13, except.. the entire bit about dispensing hot water is missing. It's weird because it does in fact work. I just tested it now (although I had to hold the buttons for a moment rather than just press them). Yet there's no mention of it in the Sage manual.
@@JesusGreenBL thanks for the info, that is really weird... Well, some of their products have either different features or different manuals depending on being Sage or Breville. Maybe a demographic thing. I also have the Precision Brewer (Breville), and the Sage has more features in the menu... Go figure... Cheers!
Thanks guys, yeah I'd not forgot to read the manual (although I usually do, haha) it's not in there, and I was told (I can't remember by whom, it was a while ago now) that there is a previous model which does have this feature but the current model doesn't. I've checked with the model I have, and it works! So I'm just awaiting confirmation from Sage that it's the case on all models. Cheers
You can, in theory it could potentially put a bit of wear on the pump - not sure, I may be talking rubbish, also you're a bit limited on the temp that way where you can get whatever temp you want using the wand to heat the water. Cheers, Kev.
Oof. Im sure Breville added a way to dispense hot water easily on this machine. This is like watching a caveman going Ooga Booga using advanced alien technology.

Hi Max :-). By standard basket, I mean single wall. Cheers :-)
What I do, is to let the auto steamer (set to max temp) to heat my water while I prep my espresso shot :-) the max temp is just enough for my taste.
That's a very good idea actually - and anyone who likes it a bit hotter can just pull the jug off the heat sensor and it'll keep going. Genius!!
