That reminded me so much of where I grew up, only exception, when you came up on a ridge you could always see water!! Never knew that was there. Thanks for the trip, sweetie....
Cool video! That sand is so white, looks like snow and acts like sugar, every detail in your footprints appeared in the sand. The lighting was incredible, like a giant softbox and cyc.
I LOVED white sands. Back when I lived in Albuquerque I took a solo road trip down there and got a speeding ticket along the way that would haunt me for 11 years
Kate I was thinking of you and Little Leaf yesterday as I was watching a goat parade in Sister Bay in Door County Wisconsin. I guess they have had a big event around this and the goats even get to walk on a house roof. Look it up. If you ever make it to upper Midwest it could be a nice event for you and your little buddy.
Hey feathers and little leaf thanks for sharing all your adventures... I think you do a great job of videoing your journeys... Have you ever thought of film maker?... You have a great artistic eye for videotaping and filming... I love the adventures you posted on the Appalachian trail and the PCT they're great learning tools?.... Just a thought ....I think little leaf and her adventures would make a great children's book where you can do all the artwork yourself... Just food for thought my dear..... Rock on feathers.... rock on little leaf!!!!
Stop thru cloud Croft on your way to Roswell. I dunno if it’ll be there this time of year but when I went there was a little stand on the road selling ice cold cherry cider
I visited the park decades ago and remember it clearly. Dune sledding was fun. The sand is generated (blown) from a ancient dry lake bed to the southwest. The sand is pure gypsum. Completely different substance than beach sand. Fun fact: the dunes 'move' over the years. Wind picks up the sand and slowly moves it, reshaping the dunes. The entry road has to be plowed from time to time otherwise the dunes would cover it.
"And she walked miles and miles through the desert with no water in sight" - I thought children's audio book hour had just started. No joke, you do have the voice to do that professionally. I can't believe how white the sand is there - that is something to see. Little leaf is in fantastic condition - you have done a great job with her!

It looks a lot like Wyoming in the winter. Lil Leaf says " Mom them rocks are so far away "
👍 😎
You would think they would at least sand the roads with all the ice on them.
Don't get abducted by aliens LOL
That is gypsum sand
F/A-18 Murder Hornet would be my guess.
