This lesson teaches you what a contact altimeter is and how to use it when dive bombing in the Ju 88.

Thanks for letting me learn. I startet 2 weeks ago and bigger planes suit me more than stressing dogfights. :)
All the best for you my friend.
If all bombings in WW2 were that precise, the towns wich have ports around were I live would still have some ancient buildings!
lol true. I just try to show a good example. I can guarantee that not every bombing attack I make is that accurate!
@@RequiemsACTL Yeh I know lol and I was saying that just for the sake of saying it because it's not even the same type of bombing, the ports near where I live (Saint-Nazaire, Brest, Saint Malo, Lorient etc were bombed by huge formation of b-24, B-17 etc which bombed from much higher, only the head plane actulay aiming and the others releasing at the same time, so not the same thing as a lone ju-88 dive bombing! Nice flying and explainging as usual! I keep onrecommanding your videos to players who ask question about handling the aircratfs in IL-2!
Another sad thing about ww2- lost heritage
Thank you! This tutorials are much appreciated
Hopefully it helps you destroy some targets :-)
Great video..........really helpful and well presented! Cheers
Excellent, your video and the JU88 :D
Great once again, ta.
Requiem learns a lot from your videos thank you very much I already leave my like and share the video too!
Thanks very much Wagner! Glad you enjoyed it :-)
Good stuff; thank you!
Great job! Just one thing to add: there is also a dive-bombing index line that wraps around the front of the windscreen.
Luke Wallace where is it exactly? Can’t see it
Look up to see the red line Luke's talking about
@@RequiemsACTL Thanks!
Awesome!
And now I have this information.
Imagine my surprise when I got into my JU88 after watching this and there was no forward/downward facing window ;) I was in the JU88C, lol.
I think you would be more concerned about trying this technique while frantically trying to use airbrakes that are non-existent in the C-6 haha
Love it. Top guide - I am guessing that there are areas of higher terrain where AGL/MSL become more important? or am I understanding AGL/MSL incorrectly
Thanks Bob, yeah depending on where you fly you need to account for the elevation so you can set the correct height you want.
great
At least !!!! Cheeeeerss !!! Close to finish my Ju88A-4 , 1:48, Edelweiss 1941.I'm into getting information about the ways of diving for this plane. :) :).
Nice, hope you can share the final result on the forums for us all to see. I have a backlog of models to build lol
Of course and I'd like to share pics of my luftwaffe planes on 1:48, future aircrafts and stuff cheers.
I do feel very into learning as much as I can bout' how to pilot and the ways you ( lovely )teach here, I really like it Sir.
Diving to bomb is something that amaze me too much, crazy. I feel some pasion as well about the schnellbombe( 3: do 17Z-2/ He111H(x)/ Ju88) and the Ju88A-4 it's great diving one and and finish a 18 revell one !!! In fact I'm trying to get info and books. Can you imagine when a find your video??

Hello, I can't get name tags on aircraft on my tacview. You have them on your videos, how do you make that work? Also when I review my tacviews from Il-2 there are cubes under each aircraft in tacview. Again you don't have this problem, your tacview looks like my tacview does for DCS.. I'm confused as to why this is, I'v gone through all the options and settings in tacview and searched the internet for answers without success. Any help would be appreciated!
I manually edit the airplanes to add/remove names so the enemies are anonymous. The cubes under the aircraft is a bug with the version of the tacview you have and should be fixed in a later update from what I've read. The same bug is present in the one I have at the moment, so videos you see without it were made with an older version.
First time i ever did this i set it at 300, dont need to tell you what happened,i pulled as hard as i could on the stick but i just couldn't clear the trees ha ha ha ha, i have a nice WW1 and 2 aviation library and in one of my books there was a story about several Ju87s that crashed to the ground on a training exercise during the war or before it,it was kept real hush hush for morale purposes, fog was the culprit i believe, excellent story,i would love to read a big story on it but info on the net is slim regarding it,must have been a horrible sight,i think it was 5 planes or so.
That's from Stuka by Hans-Ulrich Rudel, it was a demonstration put on for the army generals. The weather report said there was cloud cover up high and the group was to dive through the cloud and appear under it to finish the bombing run. Unexpectedly, ground fog developed so that the dive bombers though they were still higher up than they were and they crashed into the ground.
Again a very instructive vid.
At what height should the bombs be released?
Personal preference, but I like 1000m AGL. Whatever height you choose the horn will sound at that height... just make sure you don't make it below about 400m AGL or you'll possibly meet the ground lol
Thanks for the reply. In the meantime I have found out that setting the bomb intervals with your mouse in bombsight view to 0.5 seconds doesn't hold (it will reset to 0.05 sec every time you leave the bombsight). So setting the interval via the shortcut key (Ctrl+B by default) is the way to go to prevent (nasty) surprises.
@@maxeisert7466 interesting bug to catch! Might be worth reporting on the forums
If i would like to keep some throttle on if for an example my dive length will be less than 2000 meters, which level of rpm should i then use ?
No idea...that would take some testing on your part to figure out
The Air Combat Tutorial Library
I Was thinking do i damage my engine if i keep the rpm at maximum in the dive ?, because that’s what i do in the ju87
Well you can run it at maximum as long as your dive doesn't go on too long to prevent the engine damage occuring due to being in the emergency setting
With planes like this and the Pe-2 is there a rule regarding internal and external bomb loads ? Can you dive bomb with internal loads ?
You can but you'll just have to open the bomb bay doors of course.
The Air Combat Tutorial Library thank you ! Your videos have helped me a lot .
Is there a formula for the different dive angels and release altitudes?
There would be a way to work it out mathematically but I don't have anything on it.
@@RequiemsACTL a table would also be fine. But I guess you did learning by doing. Thx.
IL2 beats DCS when it comes to bomb damage. DCS uses a health bar system. IL2 use to use it when it first came out.
One of the most versatile planes the Germans built
Definitely my German bomber of choice when taking one
Yeahhhhh i'm sticking to BF-109 F-4 dogfighting.
I can never get the airbrakes back
what game is this

Ahhhh! A good old end to the week after an horrific political crapshow in ol' Blighty... thanks Req!!
Yeah I was following that. Definitely a big deal in the news!
Hi, I really appreciate your work, but you could give here a language other than English tea such as Russian in your Subtitles thanks
That's up to the community honestly. I don't speak any langauge other than English. Anyone is welcome to submit subtitles in any language for my videos, but not many people ever have.
