    FANFARE AND FLIGHT
Fanfare and Flight started as a request by Dr. Thomas Verrier to adapt a larger work, entitled Volo Vo/are, into a short fanfare for band. The result is a piece that develops a simple four note motif from the original. Material is augmented, diminished, inverted, and reversed throughout to form the heart of the composition. The main tune is supported by various inter-locking lines, contrapuntal conversations between groups of instruments dancing around the foreground elements, and underneath glittering woodwind textures. Encoded in the lifeblood of Fanfare and Flight is a love letter to the late 20th century band music from which it was inspired.
Noah Hudson-Camack is currently in his third year of study at the Blair School of Music, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Musical Arts in Composition. A voracious music enthusiast since introduced to band in middle school, Noah has performed in wind ensembles, marching bands, chamber ensembles, big band, jazz combos, choir, acapella groups, and steel pan bands. From these sources and a healthy smattering of popular music influences, he draws inspiration for his colorful and energetic compositions. Noah's works include pieces for orchestra, wind ensemble, chamber strings and winds, solo instrument, and jazz combo.
