This life I'm living's
Getting so hard to feel
Ooh, I'm missing you
The days are empty
And the nights are unreal
Ooh, I'm missing you

He wrote songs that he liked. Not what the industry told him.
I once drove for a limo company and my coworker got to transport him once in Connecticut. I told my boss I wanted that gig next time, but unfortunately there wasn't one due to is illness.
Dan Fogelberg is a Under Rated Artist who Should Be in The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame !!!
Very True!!! Eric Carmen as well.
Agree Dan was great and more and is more forgotten as the years go by. Don’t think he’ll get into the RRHOF anytime soon bc he is/was considered a 70s/80s pop artist, soft rock at the most. Even though on some songs he rocked pretty hard. Sadly excellent pop artists like Dan, Bread, America, Seals and Crofts, the Carpenters, Loggins & Messina, Eric Carmen and many, many others will probably never get into the RRHOF …and there is no Pop hall of fame.
Agreed
Absolutely!
He absolutely should be!!
I have never heard a Fender Strat' sound better in the hands of Clapton, Knopfler, any of them. Holy Moly, I never knew Dan Fogelberg was a world class lead guitarist.
He was a guitar virtuoso. No doubt. Also great on piano. His interviews were always clear and concise. Underrated as Hell.
Dan was an amazing talent…. I’m so upset so many people made the hall of fame and we’re still waiting.
Possibly the most under-rated singer/songwriter/performer ever?
One of the greatest talents of all time.
Ya got that right!
His music was all over the airwaves during his peak years.
what year was this...Wowie!
@@pinkmartini4509 1991 & filmed in St. Louis.
KoolCat ! ...Yes, I know now why I missed these times. I was so busy with my own 3 teens. These wasn't very much time for myself & my own music! Thanks for the info.
The master is rocking the house on this one! RIP Dan Fogelberg!
An underrated genius taken from us much too soon. I miss this dude! He had real chops as a musician, songwriter and singer!
Finally Inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame 2022!! Thank you! God Bless You Dan!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
THAT'S great to hear; Todd Rundgren was inducted the same year.
Yes, I know that. Too bad, there's not a rap hall of fame, or it may have been sooner.
@@johnroseman9087huh?
could anybody ever sing like DAN .......miss the most underrated legend

No thumbs down here...as it should be...taken from us too soon.
Always loved Dan’s songs but had no idea he was a kick ass lead guitar player too! Wow. I have a brand new respect for the late great Dan Fogelberg! Sounds like Clapton on steroids!
Right? Man that is a tasty solo.
Dan was so much more than a song writer. I love his artist's attitude in interviews he gave.
Same here. First time I saw this video. Presumed that one of his support musicians did the lead.
Impressive!
We are losing great artists like Dan Fogelberg to fast. Where has the time gone?
Hard to believe this is same guy who wrote and sang those soft rock hits "Longer" "Auld Lang Sang" "Leader of the Band", but this here is some serious kick ass guitar playing and rock vocals.
This song and "Heart Hotels" def my fave two, but all his songs are memorable.
Saw him many times live in concert!
I am truly blessed
He was such an amazing artist in so many ways
My favorite always Dan!
If I were to rate my faves:
1)Missing You
2)The Power Of Gold
3)Heart Hotels.
If you haven't heard #2, it kick ass. Well worth the listen.
The interviews with him were classy, personal and respectful. Sooo taken by this man's music, dress and total intimacy appeal
Dan was one of the finest vocalist ever. His earlier songs sound very much like the Eagles.
2021 any one listening to this classic rock???
This guy was pretty bad ass!
I miss everything about this humble genius, those years he was in his prime, but he was cut down still in his prime,What a Shame !!!
I saw Dan sing this in Concert in 1992 at the Desert Sky Pavilion in Phoenix - I have seen him 10 times in concert and got his autograph twice - I get my PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) blood test every year because of Dan - The normal range is 0.00-4.00 - This last September mine was 0.25
I loved Dan’s music. The company I worked developed the PSA blood test - it was a major improvement in finding & diagnosing prostate cancer. It broke my heart that he had fought & lost his battle with prostate cancer. His songs just go straight to your heart.
Exceptional guitarist who's easily up there with the very best .
There will never be another Dan Fogelberg never!!!
Dan fogelberg songs always made you think.
The guy was a pretty darn bad ass guitarist!
Sure was. Very melodic on his lead lines. He knew how to pick the notes rather than just shredding through a bunch of scales with no direction.
@@christocr Shredding, huh?
@@christocr agree..... it made the break very crisp. impressive.
DF fan since college, now 63.
Dan Fogelberg, the total package.
Smart. Talented and truly awesome.
Missing Dan Fogelberg now more than ever that the Earth is in such need of his voice in these awful times.
Maybe you need to just end it all...
dan gave us great music and songs.miss his music and songs very much
The awful days are over. We have a leader in Washington...finally!
@@LoneNutter1 I hope you're not referring to Chump.

I'm missing you Dan, you left us to soon
🥀Beautiful sad love song with meaning of unconditional love! Thanks for sharing you're life and & love in the music industry 🥀☝️🥀🥀🕊🥀☝️
I don't remember this being one of Dan's songs that got a lot of airplay, but it is one of my favorites of his.
It did. I was working in radio when this song came out in ‘82. It’s on his greatest hits album♥️
I can watch his videos and they never get old.. I really miss this guy..
Dude could play the heck outta that guitar
He was so baddass. I was first introduced to this beautiful man in 1978 when I had nothing. I was crashing at a friends house after an evening of pot and beer. And, I heard the song “To The Morning”. Oh my God it was so beautiful and it captured the place where I was. And then I saw how beautiful he was. I fell in love with his spirit. Several beautiful pieces of music later, l learned he died. I still mourn for him. He was so beautiful and sensitive. The tune he recorded called “ lm missing you” was so baddass t me because he was a such a softy. I wanted to see his masculine side much because he was so good looking. I got it finally. My heart breaks for his loved ones who personally witnessed his artistic and physical beauty.
Phenomenal guitar solo by an underrated legend...
I was three years old when my dad showed me this performance. I watched it over and over. It's singlehandedly responsible for inspiring me to become a musician. I know the names of every performer and I can recite the interviews between numbers verbatim.
I miss you Dan Fogelberg and the great timeless music you made but I know wherever you are - you have a guitar in hand still shredding and rocking out somewhere. Always appreciated you. Missing you still.
You know it. Give us this day our daily shred!
DF's voice got deeper as he got older - a lot more rock sounding than it was when these songs were originally recorded. Sounded wonderful. Too bad he left the world too young I bet he would have sounded great today still. One of the best ever...
This song kills. They should've called this greetings from the VEST!
This song is so haunting to me. When it first came out, I used to sing the refrain rather joyfully. But years later, upon hearing it in 2022, I never realized how prophetic it would be. The lines, "I'm always somewhere that I never belong/ Ooh Ooh, I'm missing you" really hit me when I heard this song today. It's strange, but the first girl I really fell in love with was really so deep an experience for me, but I blew it big time with her. In 1982, the realization hit home to me just how much I blew it while as a sophomore in high school, the same time this song came out. Still, I sung the song as I stated above as if it was a fun song to sing. But despite me growing much as a person and having other relationships over the past four decades, those relationships have all been dead ends, so it's like I'm always somewhere I never belong as Dan sung about in this song. On one level, it seems I'm being punished for blowing it with a girl I fell so so so much in love with at the wrong time because I couldn't handle it. It's been one dead end after another, so yes, I guess I miss her even though I know she apparently moved on with her life just like I tried to, but have yet to feel really redeemed after all this time. Even more interesting are the lyrics in the song "Your love is the promise that guides me/All of the days of my life."
I did the same thing... exactly. I threw away the relationship thinking there would always be someone better. And I think I did that because , as you stated, I couldn't handle it. She was much smarter than me. I was wrong and kept going from girl to girl. And now at 73 I have nothing. Oh I have material things, lots of them but not the one thing I came down to this Earth for... I am writing this to let you know you are not alone..
@@goldenhealer5645 God bless you sir!!! Thank you for sharing. You're still here...keep hope alive for redemption in whatever open door God has for you. I do. It's hard, I know.
Thank you! God bless you, too!
My kids wrote to him, asking for an autograph about1999, lol Can't help thinking how sick he may have been at the time. Loved his music
A true talent all around. So missed. They'll never be another one like him.
Remember American Top 40 with Casey Kasem? That's how I came to love this song. I still have my 45.
A great song by a really good guitarist/singer. Words very meaningful.
He's right up there in Rock n Roll Heaven, right up there with the very best we've ever heard or seen and will likely ever see or hear again!
What a guitarist
I pray that Jean is in a good place tonight/tomorrow. Tomorrow Dec 16 2018 marks the 11 anniversary of Dan's Passing. TG we have yt which gives us performances like this which shows us and the world that Dan was much more than a studio recording genius. He could lay it on the line and perform with so much emotion and skill. I think rare qualities in Today's performance. Did I just hear Dan Sample Layla in this performance. Is anything new really?
For Fans and kindred spirits Dan ws much more than a recording star. His mastery of the english language maybe not unique but always seemed to push a button in me that had laid dormant for years. One song in particular always spoke to me like none other. "Make Love Stay". Who has been honest with themselves and not have asked that question.. Especially when that "love" or a "love" has slipped through your hands. I long for that commitment to love yet " the drama" scares me too.
He wasn't only a fantastic singer, he could play guitar too!
Piano, too! Uber talented.. rest in peace, Dan!
Been a fan since the 70"s. Was privileged to see him three times and met him on the third time. A gracious, humble down right sexy man, will always love you Dan. Missing You is one of my favorites. And Missing You is what I do every day.
You were lucky to meet Dan in the real life world.
Great. Music. Dan. P falkenburg. Was. A. Great. Musician
Love and miss him too. A favorite song of mine.
Such a talented genius. Missing you. 💔💔
How many artists can create so many wonderful songs and have none of them sound derivative? Dan for sure. Miss him and his music.
To live in the time this was released was amazing.
He sounds so good live, died too young
I am addicted to Dan’s songs. Love his message, voice and heart. I miss him.😍
Thanks!!
I love Dan Fogelberg’s work. Nehtherlands, Home Free, Twin Sons of Different Mother’s. Great vocals, lyrics and music compositions.
Part of the soundtrack of my youth. Never gets old.
Such a great old song. From what we didn’t even know AT the time, was a simpler time.
Dan’s deep cuts are unmatched and yet again underrated.
You were missed Dan. Rest In Peace
Is better than the original recording. Thanks damn I miss you. How does he do that.
That's an amazing guitar solo by D.F.
A fantastic live version. The lead guitar was spot on.
Coming up on 10 years since Dan passed away. I miss him so much. Three concerts and a very privilege meeting for me. Miss you Dan.
just loved his songs. will miss him forever.
I've always loved the line in this song "I'm getting closer, but I don't know what to."
I remember I used that line once in a conversation & the person I was speaking to said to me, "wow, what a great line", but I had to admit it was from this song. LOL
Man, this guy could really play a mean guitar on this great song.
Concur Roving Roy. Was a Drill Instructor in the Marine Corps 1984 when this song came. Missed my gorlfriend so dearly back where I transferred from. To this day we are still buddies. Haunting is well said for this beautiful piece of musical history.
"I'm getting closer but I don't know what to" ...how great is that lyric
My Brother Danny, who I shared time with in the Greater Yellowstone Back Country when I guided him on a Horse Pack Trip in 1975. Didn't know him at first, but after 10 days in the "Lap of Mother Nature" with him, it felt that I had known him for a lifetime. Yes, "MISSING YOU ", IS, an UNDERSTATEMENT !! Till we meet again. Hugs and Cheers, from James Keith here in Montana. xx
Just an amazing musician....and a GREAT DVD and CD to have.
Best magical musician ever made! I get chills listening to his voice. I’m missing Dan.👍👍🥰🥰🎸🎸🎸❤️
This is a great song to come on the radio when working and thinking of later. I had forgotten it until The Villages radio played it and I had to look it up by typing "all of the days of my life". I would have guessed late seventies but early 80's it is.
I'm missing you, Dan!! This song has been on repeat over and over in my mind for some reason lately. God bless you, Dan for your amazing voice and music that is a gift to us all forever. I will never stop loving your music.
Kick ass!
...rhythm dynamos casting aura symphonies around tonal paragraphs of inside stories to modulate my heart with the universal love frequencies of Dan Fogelberg...! (thanx DFvevo for this gift)
A great songwriter and performer
Has there been as talented a songwriter , musician ( blues , jazz , classical , bluegrass , hard and soft rock , pop ? ) I think not --- ( not diving into the early stuff most obscure for many) who only know his " hits" is selling oneself VERY, VERY short One must dive deeply into the well of artistry that was the ouevre of Dan Folgeberg - true artist . Not even in the Songwriters Hall of Fame - how is that even possible ?
Still love listen and miss you!✝️💕
1981: Life on the road and what really matters at home, explained by Dan in four minutes and change. Be at peace, Dan.
Brings back the days in the late sixties when I was lucky enough to live in Dan's area and went to see him in his first band, the Coachmen!!!
Great guitar work .
One of my favorites! This man was so multitalented it’s unbelievable!!!!
Another great, but underrated and seldom played song.
RIP Dan Fogelberg - a beautiful soul indeed!
Dan is a talent beyond words...we appreciate you so...
Why oh why...did this man...this angel singer have to be ripped out or our lives?????? I will never understand.
Because the good die young. 😥
Agree.. Heartbreaking
There are some people who, when they've accomplished what God put them here to do, are moved along quickly. I've known some of them. I figure Dan fits that description.
My fav song of his. But he had so many great great hits.
I'll be Dan is resting in peace - a very talented artist with a beautiful soul...
There is a God and He shines through Dan
Dan was a pioneer and inspiration for many of the lead singers/guitar players we see today I feel.
It just pisses me off every time I see this awesome dude performing again. Please, let’s get this man in the rock hall of fame. Dan Fogelberg deserves this and so do we …… he was pure talent. Dammit Dan you are missed
I can't understand how the audience could sit so calmly with this great song. Ich kann nicht verstehen wie das Publikum so ruhig sitzen konnte bei diesem klasse Song. Love this Song
@Manuela Willaredt...Me, too, this is a great tune!! I saw him two times in the eighties and once in the mid-nineties...when he played with his full band he would flat-out jam on his electric guitars. Like you said, though, the crowd was quite subdued and maybe there for his slower ballads. I have always appreciated his excellent guitar playing. Yeah, buddy, DF could jam!!
Great musician, writer and world singer. Incredible talent and dearly missed.
If Dan Fogelberg had known about High THC hemp oil he might be with us now
A bit later after the diagnosis of prostate cancer, it seemed like he might have beaten it. But...it was not to be.
this song beings me back to 1983. my childhood..
This to me is my favorite song with DAN ????
Missing you too Dan! You were cut down much soon, but what an amazing body of work you left behind!!
I've listened to many of Dan's songs. A lot of them really have a painful yearning about them.
This performance was so damn good, l almost didn't mind that "Language of Love" was left off the concert video.
I always liked the early 80s music.
Missing you…
Great song..
♥️♥️♥️
Great song and band
Dan will always be THE MAN - always...
With all the hits this man crafted i wished soo bad he would have done more lead guitar work simply awesome i seen him live once and cherish it forever RIP Dan you were 1 of the greats
("LEADER OF THE BAND"{MINE WAS PETEY THE COCKATIEL)}& "AULD LANG SYNE"= MY FAV'S].The year b4 DAN passed away i "won" 2 concert tickets to see DAN FOGELBERG's solo concert at RUTH ECKERD HALL, CLEARWATER, FL. DAN blew me away{ the wife enjoyed DAN'S songs but her passion is " OLDIES" & " FRANKI VALLE"}. DAN was superb; no hint of illness. He went on doing what he loved & excelled at till the end. R.I.P.
