Six years later, these are still pretty good for a budget. Especially since I need a good headset for work and my 4 year old Corsair HS50 gaming headset finally bit the dust when adjusting volume. I do agree that the mic mute button is in an inconvenient place, but it's not a big deal when I'm only muted after work or in meetings. While playing this video, I noticed the big change in sound when pressing the 7.1 virtual surround button. BIG difference.
how much would you say is worth it for this

Edit: The mic works well in keeping outside noise out. Shame I'm not allowed to use them for work anymore. :(

I'd love to see more standalone mics featured on the channel. I currently use the original Cloud Headset for my PS4 gaming purposes but for my PC I'd like to have some kind of desktop mic as I use my HiFi headphones. The Cloud Headset is very good for it's price but not as good as my other headphones.
Please keep the gaming accessories videos coming, it's the part I like the most about this channel.

Afther using this headset for 2 months i found out that it has a 7,1 surround sound button...
Edit: After almost 4 years of useage the Mic Stopped working :(
Edit 2: I fixed it by cleaning the mic hole thingy :) it sounds worse then before but it still works good enough for me.

yes it does make a difference in the sound but doesnt really impact the sound in a positive way. i would suggest not to turn it on for music.

Although I would be willing to pay even more for high-end headphones, I reached the conclusion that none of the available options would be worth the price premium compared to THIS great product. If anyone thinks otherwise suggesting another one I haven´t heard of yet, I shall gladly at consider an upgrade.

I just bought the originals and I can't say enough good things about how great they sound, Especially with a amp. The velor padding feels so much better. I swapped those on the first day.

I have a pair, such a great headset. After wearing for more than 2 hours, they are still comfortable. Also the virtual surround is great, even for a game like csgo

just so you know, the movement you are seeing on the cable is from the nylon sheathing not being attached directly to the wire. It actually works as a form of strain relief if you think about it, and are in no way a detriment.

They're both fine. I'd say the value you get for the first one is absolutely awesome (even with the Cloud II out). I've got the first version too and I absolutely love it
Last year I bought the corsair void headset, and exchanged it for the cloud 2. Sounds great, super comfortable, and it outlived my previous headsets.

I bought these to replace my X12's which had fell apart and at first it annoyed me with how isolated external sounds were, until I watched this and you suggested to switch to the velour ear cups, so I did and now I love them thanks for the tip.

I had Cloud 2 and I still do since day 1 they came to my local shop....Best investment I've ever made...They still look new and work perfectly like new, 10/10 great product....Really durable and long lasting!

Hi Dimitri, I'd like to buy this headphone my region is South East Asia, however we got lots of complains about the headset, it is regards with the compatibility on latest update of Windows 10, your side having problem on the Latest update of Windows for this head phone?
I don't have them on me to test with W10 but if you're reading up on compatibility problems with W10 perhaps you can wait till Kingston rolls out with an update. Although I don't see how this would be an issue. Could be user error.

+Juan Carlos Santos Old comment but I'll answer anyways if somebody else is wondering. I got the Cloud II and I have no problems with drivers or anything of that sort on Windows 10 with the latest updates, they work like a charm.

Matheus Moreira It defintely works well, at least when i using it at middle volume, the outside noise i totally cannot be hear and same as outside people cant't even hear you as well, people who sleep beside you will complaint ur mouse clicking sound rather than the sound leaking from headphone during sleep xD, my experience...

Would have rathered the Cloud II's to have a removable audio cable over the usb dongle because my dog tends to chew on cables and being able to replace it would be really great.

Thank you for a well detailed video. I have bought my PC case after watching your vids a long time ago, and I trust your channel as much as Linus. Great video quality and always a good moment to watch your new content. I am really pleased with all the points you made, and after my purchase of the Hyper Xcloud II I can tell that in deed eveything you said about these is correct. Overall I am pleased with these headphones that came in from amazon today, one hour before I started that message.
There is one key point you never mentionned and I really wish you did before I purchased it. The Headpones can't be used with certain type of phone if the Microphone dongle isn't plugged in the headset when you insert the jack cable in the phone. So basically if you want to use this with your phone, you either have to carry the mike at all times one the headset, (you can trick the phone, by removing the dongle right after you connect the headset to your phone, sounds will still go through after.) or buy a small dongle 3.5mm jack that doesnt carry the microphone signal (2 stripes on the jack instead of 3 stripes). I hope it was coherent. if you can reproduce this problem let me know. if you can't reproduce and it works well for you let us know what cellphone you use. I use a Honor 6x.
Dimitri can you reproduce this bug with an eventual unit you may have around your studio. if so please adress this, I know Hyper X is a PC gamer oriented brand, but I am pretty sure am not the only one to want to use one pair of headphones for my on the go music needs.

Ive heard the first hyperx clouds worked better on newer mobos. Would this one because of the usb dongle work best on anything?

The USB dongle is for those with motherboards with subpar sound solutions. The original clouds full potential could not be realized without a 'gaming' motherboard with a nice audio solution, external sound card or dac. Definitely get this over the Steelseries Siberia V2s, they sound way better. If you see the original clouds on sale, it may be better to grab those and a cheaper sound card or dac.

The 1 Realm of Retro! Yeah, don't get the Siberia V2's. They're too small, and they don't cup your ears properly, and the cable is terrible.
R0K99 Do they actually sound better? I've been using the V2's for a while, the bass is weak but they sound rather clear, but then again I haven't really used anything better daily.
Dylan Saranov Yeah, especially if your source can supply enough power to the clouds. The difference was pretty drastic.
At their core, these were not developed by either Kingston or QPad, these are rebranded and accessorized Takstar Pro 80 headphones, which were made for music, so with audio quality in mind, by developing drivers and housings that would sound as close as possible to the Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro 80-ohms (hence "Pro 80", even though Takstar made them 60-ohm), while looking more like the DT-880 on the outside and being more oval. The pleather pads Kingston put on there make them more closed and more bassy, while the velour pads make them sound more similar to the original Takstar version and to the music-oriented DT-770 that were the initial inspiration.
So neither Kingston nor QPad designed any actual audio technology in this case, they just bought a successful Chinese product, rebranded it, accessorized it with a microphone and other extra features, and started selling it for more.
True, but...It depends on where you live tho. The Takstar Pro 80's aren't sold in my country. I can order them from ebay, aliexpress, or other resellers for around $70 with shipping. To that, I'll have to add $13 customs tax. There's also the delivery time of around 3-4 weeks. Or, I could pay $80 for a brand new pair of Hyperx Cloud II's from a trusted seller in my country and have them delivered to my doorstep in 24 hours (for free). Sure, I don't get the fancy case the Takstar's come in, but hey...atleast the Cloud's have a mic.

I bought this since it was the cheapest headset that would fit over my industrial piercing (extremely uncomfortable after a while of wearing headphones). When I pulled it out of the box I could not have been happier. Extreme comfort, great sound, durable materials, beautiful packaging, just an amazing headset.
how is it for glasses wearers? My correct ones have leather cups and they destroy my head when I use glasses. Seeing that hyper x provides two styles of ear pads, I was hoping i can finally sit in comfort?
+Dp DP Very comfortable i must say. I have one myself and wearing glasses while gaming didnt bother me much. But i do have to take the headphone off after awhile to let my ears breath

+Dp DP If you need more convincing, my old headphones would really kill the sides of my head from my glasses being pushed into it. These are much more comfortable and your glasses don't feel like they're locked in place from it being squeezed.

Péter Friedrich I would 100% go for the HyperX clouds. I've used siberia v2s and own clouds and the clouds are the better product all around- the headphones themselves are great (and if properly powered sound amazing considering the price, even for music), they are built like a tank and look really cool, and the mic is pretty ok. If you're a bargain hunter you can probably find the original HyperX clouds for $60 which is absolutely insane for the money. I own them and own a few other high end headsets and headphones and can say I would buy them over most headsets that cost 3x the price.
Please show us your audio setup!! I've been trying to find the best setup for me (primarily for immerse gaming) but there is just so much out there for headphones and sound cards and amps. Your reviews are amazing and I'd love to know what you use

I have the original clouds & I'm a fps console competitive player & the headset is amazing. Super comfortable, great sound quality & the mic is better than the one on Astros which cost $250. The clouds are seriously an amazing headset for the price. I love mine.

I had these for a long time and they were great to me. I recently upgraded to some A50s but I have to say these clouds are just as great IMO. I only switched because i wanted a true wireless headset. If Kingston ever makes wireless clouds of glady pay more.

Which 1 should I go for? Mostly use for PS4.
+Jacky Lau For PS4, I would suggest going with a USB headset that supports consoles. For build, HyperX Cloud series for sure. Comfort wise, the G633 takes the cake. Sound wise, i prefer the G633 but all testing has all been done on PC.

My headset does not have that bit of wiggle on the cable where it meets the headset. I use the alternate ear cups since the vinyl does not breath as well but feels nice. I did not like the alternate earcups at first but they are comfortable & have grown to like them just fine. It was interesting how you also commented on the sound quality of the earcups as did the HyperX youtube video.
I dont know why but 7.1 is worse for me than normal, does anybody know how to fix that ?

+Inaktiv It depdends on the game for me. The only game I use 7.1 in is BF4 where I changed the in-game settings to surround. There, it sounds amazing. Unfortunately most of my other games do not support surround, and in those I think it just sounds silly.
yeah in player unknowns battlegrounds with the surround sounds it sounds like someone is behind you while he is in frront of you wtf dont think the surround doesnt do much in that game except for making it louder

just picked these up today after having been suing the kraken pro's for a year. Bass is better on the krakens, but every other aspect is so much better in these Hyper X's. I'm really enjoying them, so clear.

i had the razen kraken and wasn´t happy with it, sound ok, but it rly hurted on my ears after only about 1 hour or less... now got the hyperx cloud 2 and it is amazing ;) dont buy razer bro, i did the mistake on mices too, all razer has is design, that´s it

I own a set of the Cloud 1... I was thinking the same thing about the new set with 7.1, I prefer stereo as well. BUT I also saw that on the new Cloud 2 set, the 7.1 sound is only activated with that center button 04:40. So I guess it is just an option.
KpTM Gaming I have started to use Razer surround with my sennheiser HD 558 to get slightly better positioning, and it works pretty damn well with little to no sound quality change, but be warned if you use it to turn off all the terrible added effects like bass boost, and stero enhancement, because those will make it sound TERRIBLE!
You don't NEED to even use the soundcard, so not really, it's more of having the option.
for games like csgo virtual 7.1 is a pretty nice addition.
+JD no it sucks. Just use Stereo headphones with good details like Sennheiser HD 598 or these. Dont buy them for VSS whatever you do

I have Cloud Mix & it's awesome & also I use with it HyperX AMP. I know my headset doesn't support surround sound that comes with the AMP but it makes the audio sharp & the mic clear
