brilliant vid mate,, i reconise that power station lol, drove past it every week end on way to larnaca market. you had to drive through the middle of the army camp virtualy at (dhekalia) as this is the route the main road takes. and then we would stop in Lambros Fish & Kebab House on the way back, best eating place for fish on the island, you have brought back many great memories,,( many thanks to you). i am glad we do not have them can eating fish in the uk otherwise, we would have to hide our sneakey beer cans away on the beach for fear of the fish nabbing them lol. but then who needs a pair of nail clippers to trim your knots back when you have one of them rabbit fish in your box? lol😂

Really interesting video Wayne. Thanks for taking us along. Those rabbit fish have better teeth than me! Shame the mahi weren’t playing, they’re such stunning fish and are apparently the fastest growing fish in the world. They jump like crazy when they’re hooked too. I’d love to catch one some day. Awesome stuff as always buddy. Thanks for taking time out of the family holiday to entertain us lot. I for one really appreciate it 👍🏻

I live here. No fish here. In the store we buy farm raised fish mainly. They are farmed in floating offshore pens. I swim in the sea every day far out. Just see juvenile grouper and pompano and a few species. All too small to eat. See some mullet. What’s odd is there’s no birds. That must be because theirs no food. That rabbit fish you see washed up on the beach dead a lot. People say this lack of fish is due to overfishing. I don’t agree. I believe it’s because the Mediterranean Sea was thousands of years ago was a lake. So there’s no Gulf Stream or Humboldt current so no plankton, no nutrients. This is one reason the water is so blue. There are some large grouper far out. Freedivers go for those. Not sure if it’s not allowed to catch them with a rod as you see these sold in restaurants. You can see the hole in their side where they were speared. These charter fishing boats go for Bonita and amberjack, very small ones. In America we through those back. You can’t eat a Bonita. Use it for bait for billfish. Don’t have of those here. I believe there’s tuna but I don’t see any long liner fishing vessels. Don’t see any fishing fleet at all. Just see small boats with small drift nets catching small fish. Best fishing in Cyprus is fresh water fishing in the reservoirs. People eat octopus here. Throw those back overboard in America too. It’s like rubber. No big sport fishing boats here like you would find in Florida, Carolina, Costa Rica. So no point coming here to fish, come here to swim.

Hope you don’t mind the questions. Seeing a lot of different things. Do you need a license to fish from the shore (salt water ) over there I’m there in November thanks.

Yes bud, some areas you do. Ask in the local tackle shops and they'll give you the up to date guidelines. Have a great time! 🎣

Hi Wayne. You'll be saddened to hear, that I'm back to my old self this week. So much fuel for my unconstructive criticism. Besides the obvious, that you didn't smuggle me there with you in your suitcase. Your skipper kept referring to the "English" army. The Scottish lads serving over there will be flashing him what's under their kilts if they see this... and could you have a word with youtube. There's only "like" and "dislike" buttons under your video, and no "bloody love it" button. I'm just going to hit the like button twice. That should do the trick. Hope you had a good trip. I'm looking forward to more Norway. :)

Puffas are dogfish of Cyprus 🇨🇾 there are literally 1000s of them in the sea, puffas doesn't belong to med sea, all immigrated from the red sea, when we catch them in Turkey no matter what sizes are we don't release them, puffas are really bad for ecosystem, they literally eat anything and everything. Best time to fish that part of the world is late September till December, good vid nonetheless 👍🎣
