Great info. I have been riding for 50 years, but I still appreciate the information you provide. Your passion for helping new riders with sensible guidance should be admired by all riders. Thanks
Thanks so much! I appreciate you, be safe
Same here LOL - And absolutely love Joe !!! - Been following for years....
Joe - totally get the thought process for sure... All of it... I am an ATGATT dude. Even when it's 120° here in Phx, AZ - Do not take this the wrong way - "YOU DO YOU" !!!!! - and just do what you want.... I do.... I will say that even when it's hot here, when you're rolling, it's really not that bad. That said, for the last 35 fucking years as a Land Surveyor - working outside, I am quite used to it LOL...
Personally, I think it's great that you have always tried to help new and seasoned riders.
I went on an ATGATT ride last week in 90 degree heat with high humidity wearing Badlands Pro pants and jacket, all vents open, and totally sweated my sack off. Had to turn back to avoid heat exhaustion.
TOTALLY GET IT! It sometimes is just awful and you have to cut it down some, but sometimes you just have to deal with it. Timcol we gonna ride in the soon future sir! be safe
In order for me: 1 helmet 2 gloves 3 ADV boots 4 armored pants
I’m with you on the ATGATT, I want the ability to decide what is right for me and I accept the risk if I don’t want to totally gear up to go around the block or to the local gas station.
Heck I'm out weekly with shorts, flip flops, tank top. BUT, I live in a one light town of 3k ppl and very low traffic. Im only going 1/2 mile for a steak and beer run.
It really depends on where you live. In Minneapolis, yeah, ATGATT. I would prolly get shot walking my dog though.
My choice!😀
Fortnine had a RUclips video a few months ago as to what are the few essential motorcycle riding gear by statistical prevention of injury.
1. Helmet, prevents most deaths.
2. Boots, that protect foot/ankle injuries.
3. Gloves, to prevent hand injuries.
These are the bare essentials statistically by historical records of motorcycle accidents. The jacket & pants prevent road rash. Any armor will protect you even better, but I live in Texas & I’m sorry but atgatt is too hot. So I try to wear the essentials most of the time. Please stop trying to shame us into 100% of atgatt, people. Roughly 38,000+ people die in motor vehicle accidents each year in the USA & they are in a vehicle with a safety cage. I ride for fun a few miles hundred miles each year primarily on dirt roads, & single track using paved roads as little as possible to get to them, connecting them & getting back home. So please people stop picking on us who at least try to wear the essentials.
I agree. We all take a risk when we get on our Bikes. I'm an urban rider so I ride ATGATT like 99% of the time. I occasionally don't wear a MC jacket, I own like 7 pair of MC pants, and similar number of boots, gloves, helmets. Md, DC, Va are all mandatory helmet states so it's not even a consideration.
However, I don't lecture people and I don't even volunteer advice unless they ask.
I occasionally worry when I see u on your bike, but then I remember, you are just around the neighborhood. I commute on I-95 and US1, US50 pretty much everytime I go out. So I gear up. If I was out in the country, I'd be less diligent.
Where have u been?
hmm. mixed opinions. I listened to the first 1/2 yesterday.Didn't really agree. finished the podcast today, and sort of get it now. I'm completely onboard with doing your own thing, just to be clear. Agree you don't need a Badlands outfit to go to 7-11. I guess what got me yesterday was the bit about it being "dumb" to ATGATT to the corner store. Saying it's "up to the rider" is one thing, but go easy on those that kit up for a short ride (even if those same riders are the ATGATT nazis that bother you), it's not "dumb", it's a personal choice. Also agree that a helmet is by far the most important piece of kit. Life saving, the rest is skin saving. I just ride the dirt right now, while i'm contemplating a DS bike this fall. Road/traffic awareness, and rider skill, means more than kevlar jeans when it comes down to it. When i do get a DS bike, i'll wear more gear than you would normally, because i should, in my opinion, based on my (zero) street experience. My chances of laying a bike down are way higher than yours, is what i'm trying to say. Darn, that was long winded on my part. Thanks for the podcast.
Do you have any videos riding off road or do you just ride pavement with that ktm?
Videos on RUclips? Yes a few but mainly this is a channel for information and help. I have tons of pics and videos that are just riding off-road but I do t post it on the channel
