Best call I've heard in a long while
As a Collingwood supporter for well over 50 years I cannot express how much enjoyment this game has given me. Carlton has been responsible for so much heartache since 1970 so it's good to get one back on the old enemy. We just need to get them in a Grand Final to better this feeling!
100% I want to see us beat Richmond, Geelong, Carlton and Essendon all old enemies in the in the Grand Final, Brisbane and West Coast out of the newer teams as well.

Yep that or a prelim are the only things that could top this! Honestly I think there was more weighing on this than any QF, EF or SF, especially considering Carlton trying to break their no-finals streak

Great call Gerard Whateley. Couldn't have wished for a more perfect summation than likening the Pies to the Grim Reaper reaching in and tearing out Carlton's heart. So cold, so brutal, so perfect! And Andy just has to sit there and take the pain so sweetly. I love it!! Go the Mighty Pies!!
Gerard should be fined $65,000, put of a 5 year good behaviour bond and suspended from commentating in this year's finals series.

@@khs17 Every dog has its day, you will be out in straight sets. We will benefit a lot from this sting in the tail and 1 point loss, and its not a Grand Final. Finishing 6th is not much better than finishing 9th in many ways. No silverware comes with that.

Shit calls both ways but in the end curnow rushing snaps and your whole squad not kicking between the big ones cost you the game and your poor performances in previous games cost you finals

There was only one thing better than Gerard Whately's call, and that was seeing it, from Darcy Moore's brilliant smashing spoil, the brilliant passing right through the centre of the ground to the brilliant block by young Ginni that enabled the great finishing goal by Billy. Go the mighty Pies.

You can't expect to play finals when you only win 4 of your last 12 games, including losing their last 4 games and choking badly in the last 2 games. They weren't good enough when it mattered late in the season and even if they had made it would have limped in and got smacked out the first week of finals.
As a Bulldogs supporter this gave me much joy 😊 Never barracked so hard for Collingwood in my lifel🤣

Even though it wouldn't have been possible for Gerard to say it at the time, let's just say it now. No team has been better at the close finish when it comes to winning home and away matches, but when it really matters in the finals they couldn't get the job done in exactly the same situation against the best of the best. Even with a home ground advantage against Geelong in a final that wasn't even their home final.
They only fell narrowly short in those two finals. Just wait until September. They’re an even better side now. Good luck beating them. You’d want to be 5 goals up minimum at 3/4 time. All teams will be looking over their shoulder including Geelong. It already happened to them in round one. They looked like deers caught in the headlights in the last quarter
