- The education secretary has told Sky News the government will "consider" whether to scrap the two-child benefit cap.
Labour refused to say during the general election whether the cap would be abolished.
Bridget Phillipson told Sky News the move would be "very expensive" and the Conservative Party had "wrecked the economy".
"We are aware of the evidence around this, and as part of the review that we will conduct in the coming months we will consider that as part of a number of ways... in terms of how we can lift children out of poverty," she said.

Hopefully not. Some people need to learn to keep their legs closed.
And some men need to keep it in their trousers
Time for British people
Who are they?
Our country is full to the brim, we have no room and no money for limitless immigration and population, it's madness.
We have money for Israel & Ukraine however, funny how we always have money for that…
Politicians should be careful with our money, including the benefits system. We're not a magic money tree.
Better not scrap it.
Send the migrants back
It’s crazy! The country is full! Why encourage more babies. And we all know the demographic that will take most advantage of it!
Omg, please don't say this. Its rasicts, please just keep paying and don't question anything, the government have it all in control
It's really not full... and a baby is a "net profit" to a country. Short term investment for incredible long term return.
Birth Registrations in England decreased by 5,4% in 2023 from 2022 compared with 2,1% decrease in Scotland in the same time period.
Pardon the pun but why the flop of 3,3% compared with Scotland?
@@ScottishRoss27 Did English women let themselves go!?!

😂i couldn't say.
Birth Registrations in 2023 Birth Rate Per 500 Women
Scotland 45,945 91,8
Finland 43,383 86,7
Kuwait 38,875 77,7
Singapore 33,541 67
Uruguay 32,301 64,6
Don't scrap it.
Bright future no one has future where I live there is nothing most people are on benefits or have nothing live with nothing talk about a joke or what
Take the cap off would encourage to keep on benefits...
Two weeks in the seat of power and Labour already showing us it's about their individual ideaologies and not the interests of the country or the people in it. I'd like to thank those that voted for this mess and those that couldn't be bothered to get of their rear ends for allowing us all the opportunity to live with these idiots.
Their "ideology" is just that many issues can't just be cured by throwing money at them. They need to treat the root cause. That isn't a personal ideology. It's pragmatic sensible policy.
So Labour's fully costed policies are blown up by various Labour interest groups. Give in to one pressure group and the others demand and expect increased funding too. But with promised no increase in taxes, where is the fully funded money coming from? The UK is broke.
*England is broke.
Why weren't the Tories, who abolished it, asked to reinstate it ?
Im pretty sure they were, they just decided not to, because the reasons they abolished it in the first place were still valid.
So What were the valid reasons.
@@joancooley1387 Valid by their own analysis. I'm not saying I agree, I'm just saying that there was no reason for them to change their minds.
@@joancooley1387because it was costing the country 5 billion a year and they were stopping people relying on the state that's why!!
Majority that were recieving it wasn't brits
this came on automatically but I am not watching this biased woman Kay so bye
Everyone should just be on benefits, then no one would have to worry about working. It would be a utopian paradise where everything runs perfectly and we could all persue our hopes and dreams without fear of having to pay rent. 😂😂😂
What hopes and dreams would they be for most people? Alot of people base their lives on making others miserable
@@stequalityyou have a victim mentality and as such will always be a victim 😉
AND BEING BORED IS A CRIME
Labour is still giving the people to consider family planning first. While they are still doing research about the causes of poverty as a whole
Why oh why aren't they willing to pander to the bums?! 😢😢 disgusting!!!
The problem is there has been no growth for 17 years.
So the EU membership, mass migration, investment, austerity, economic models have all failed.
What has suddenly changed in 17 years other than a current technical global recession.
Where in a population trap population cannot be sustained and certainly not increased
Is it expensive though?!
Keep the cap the money is running out fgs
Its right
She Sounds like Robot....
Bravo 👏🏻
ON THE JOB EXPLAIN YES IN A TIE
Rachel reeves is in control of her dept too !
Should amy previous government be expected to have provided funding for the incoming party's policies?
no, but they should endeavor to not run things at a massive loss year after year then exacerbate inflation causing interest rates to spike higher than the global average, making our debt cost us EVEN MORE money every year.
The Non Labour Party
Lets see how much of what she has said will happen actually does!!!!!
F ALL.
Maybe polygamy will solve it.
She’s very good
I think he put the dems 1st, not country !
Of course
They’ve already got your vote😂
I agree with most of these comments.
stop blinking so much please
Dry eyes from studio lights.
We want flat caps, clogs and pipes like in the golden days of yester yonder
They can scrap it IF they only want to be in power for one term . . . . . I for one am disinclined to do so.
Your words will be measured on your actions in due course.
Labour Ministers do so much better in the morning interviews than the Tory did. Hope they can keep at it.
Has she finished school yet? 😮😮😮
