Highly recommend, been using it for a while and have even rescued expensive 20 year old paint brushes that have gone rock hard and couldn't bring myself to throw away, now as good as new..x
Thank you! I really appreciate how you showed the entire process. Seeing it from start to finish without any bypassing is really helpful and I appreciate all the great tips you threw in as well! 😁
Amazing, thank you! Now what if you want to leave your brushes overnight or for a day. Do you have to clean them or is there something you can do to just keep them okay and not dry out?
Dark Phoenix if I’m in the middle of an oil painting and I plan on painting the next day, I will dip my brushes into a mixture of safflower oil and clove oil. I learned this trick from the channel “Draw Mix Paint.” When dipped in these oils, your brushes will not dry out. I’ve left mine out for over a week before and they were just fine. Just make sure to wipe your brushes off real good before continuing to paint. That mixture is also a good brush cleaner as well.
Dark Phoenix Here is the link to the video where I got the idea to do this. ruclips.net/video/mhOzqI0mWmA/видео.html It’s artist grade safflower oil and 2% clove oil. I usually just put in a few drops of the clove oil.
I just have to say, if ur using water _within_ a building, then the water being used is mostly in a closed loop system. Most used water especially if within communities of the US, is recycled at water treatment facilities. It's a widely held misconception that a running faucet "wastes" water, likely due to our own parents telling us that it does. However this is not necessarily true, unless its water that is outside of this closed system like a from the sprinklers, a water hose or a swimming pool. These types of water systems are not enclosed and DO waste by the tonnage. If it wasn't for water treatment facilities we would be out of freshwater to use within our homes seasonally possibly even monthly or weekly. Just something to think about! P.S. that's why you shouldnt put anything toxic down any types of drains! Thats the same water you may end up showering with and/or drinking! 😅

can i use safflower oil bought in the supermarket?
I may be wrong, but you probably could, just make sure to wash any oil you use out of your brushes thoroughly with soap and water
Will this work with natural bristles and synthetic?
Alicia Devera I’ve cleaned both types of brushes using this method.
I paint with watercolours and alcohol based paints. I have a feeling that the oil will stop the paint adhering to my plastic/ resin miniatures.
Jamie Thomas I only clean my oil paint brushes this way. You could just use brush cleaner or soap and water to clean your brushes.
We can also learn from here to turn off the faucet and use a cup with water. :)
Robherta Yea, it’s a bad habit of mine to keep it running 😊

@@Handles-R-Lame Thanks! I never knew water was recycled.
Can I use castor oil instead?
Srishti Mishra I would not recommend that.
can we use only dish soap?
You can use other soap if you want. When I was in college, we actually used hand soap to wash out our brushes
so your saying i can clean my brushes by using any walnut oil and some dish soap!?
It doesn't have to be walnut oil. You can use any oil you would use to oil paint with.
just please be aware of your oily rags as they may spontaneously combust!
who else cant hear her good?....
You are wasting too much water.
