I feel that there's no need to apologize for long videos for those of us that are learning tips and tricks and the right way to do things.. I will be doing this, this winter on my 1776... Thank you Darrin..

Though I havent owned a bug motor in 30 years, (I'm in the process of building a Smyth Jetta pickup conversion), I still love your videos on the machine and assembly work. Great explanations and narratives. Thanks Darrin !

Thanks for the shout out Darrin I appreciate it. I love hearing your diagnostics on what's going wrong in the engine. I like the valve grinder on that cart it looks like the perfect size for it plus it frees up the bench.

My dad had one of those valve seat grinders just like that. There is nothing left of it when his house burned down in the Napa fire.

I like doing heads the best it kinda pays off on a build. I still think the heads are where most of the power is well that and the cam but heads are key to power.

I don't even have a VW (yet), but I enjoy watching somebody who knows what they're doing ply their wares. Are those valves OEM or are they aftermarket valves of dubious quality?

I learned how to do valves and seats in highschool auto shop in 2000, in 2002 the shut down the auto shop because the teacher was retireing. that was the last of the hands on electives other then photo and ceramics left. we used to have metal shop and wood shop, sucks that there not teaching kids how to use there hands anymore.

I've concluded they want to make them "dumb of skills" so they have to pay for everything to get fixed :)

Darrin, just wondering if maybe those valves were junk when the engine was build the first time. Seems that you definitely are more detail oriented than most people I meet. Maybe the first engine builder just slapped those valves in without truing them up
