just won one of these at a raffle, was absolutely baffled to have won it. i’ve always wanted a repeater and this will be my first gun
I found my dream gun a couple months ago. Came with 2 sets of barrels. One for 45-70. The other for 50-110. If only I would have had $15k to buy it
Guessing that was a Turnbull set?
50-110 holy fuckin balls. That's an elephant gun
I have 3 Henry 45-70's: the color case hardened H010CC, the X model H010X and the brass Bison Tribute H010B. I do want to pick up that H024-4570 model at some point! (Oh, and by the way, although it has a brass receiver, it technically is NOT a "Golden Boy". Those are the .22 and .17HMR calibers.)😁
How does the model x do for recoil? Went and handled one. Felt like a toy so I said no to it.
I own that exact gun and am blown away at every little detail.
Henry went to great lengths to make the perfect lever gun in 45-70 and surpassed ALL my expectations!
I own Winchester, Marlin, and Henry lever actions. The Henry is the best fitting, beautiful, and smoothest action of the brands. Marlin and Henry actions are very similar. Winchester actions are very diverse, strong, and historic. Love them all.
Love it...I've got the 45-70 all weather side gate myself. Probably my favorite gun.
Dude how did you find one I’ve been looking everywhere I can’t even find a .45-70 let alone the all weather
For those wondering, the 45-70 Government recoil feels about the same as a 12 gauge shotgun.
I can handle that.
I definitely agree with that comment! The 12 gauge is not too bad.. until you pattern one off the bench! I got to 12 shots and called it a day!
I honestly felt like someone punched me on my cheek and shoulder!
Off the bench never feels like that at all!!!
not really. Its a little less. Got 2 henrys 45-70 and 1 marlin 45-70
With trapdoor loads it feels about like a 308. Mine is very smooth like a push with rounds loaded at trapdoor levels
As a Henry 45/70 owner it’ll bruise your shoulder quicker than a 12 guage. Most 12g have recoil pads where the Henry had a solid brass plate.
I have the same gun. I love it! It’s the big brother to my Henry Steel side gate 45Colt that I won at a gun bash. I won’t own anything other than Henry for lever guns!
Great video Andrew! Love the .45-70!
In 2020 bought Henry 45-70 all weather lever action, love the rifle so do my relatives and friends.
I got a Henry big boy steel side gate and fell in love with the 45-70 now I also have a Pedersoli 1874 Sharps and a Tippmann armory rolling block in 45-70and am looking for a high wall in 45-70. Of course I have to load my own ammo as the factory stuff is $2.00 plus per round when you can find it. Also you can’t get factory ammo with the 535 gr. Rounds (for Sharps and Rolling Block won’t work in lever gun)
Beautiful gun, love Henrys
LoL I did the same thing when I picked up my marlin 1870 lever action in 35 Remington, forgot was a lever action used to shooting without a lever action. I love my lever action rifles so much fun to shoot
I bought 4570 H010 colour case harden. I’m loving it. Hitting steel 200 yards. I put peep on it.
It's a classic. Very beautiful.
Reminds me of the Rifleman! He shot a Winchester92! That was a cool test! Hope your shoulder is ok.
45-70 has that “Voom” sound that is distinct!! Glad you like your Henry. I prefer a Marlin 1895 CB 45-70, but the round itself fired from whatever firearm it is chambered for is phenomenal. 45-70 the overall best chambering that exists on the planet!! You can tame it down to Cowboy Action Rounds, and powerize it with rounds that are more powerful than .300 Win. Mag.
Try the X model, very cool, nice rubber recoil pad :) Treaded barrel if you need a muzzle break, small pic rail, black finish.. If you want the the Golden Boy get a 2nd one in 30-30..
Fortunately I have the octagon barrel color case hardened model that comes with the cushy rubber butt pad. Highly recommended. 😃
Yes, I have a Ruger No 1 in 45-70. Fun gun to shoot
Being a reloader you can take a 405 grain bullet from just over a 1,000 fps to over 2,000 extremely versatile cartridge
I like the checkering not sure of the double loading idea ,like to see a clip version similar to the browning 308 lever clip feed
I haven't shot a 45-70 yet, but I have one sitting on my lap at the moment. I'll be shooting it soon.
Great gun, I have a blued one with a 19-inch barrel no side gate. Though I mostly shot handguns that has to be one of my favorite rifles, it makes water Mellons evaporate! Lol
Great video!
It is a Dream Gun !!! Good call
Beautiful gun
Henry make some good guns. A box of twenty might give you a sore shoulder. Thanks for the video.
Wally World has the Henry 45-70 near me. It isn’t the side load though. So I keep passing on it.
I have the Marlin Guide Gun, 45.70. Great pig 🐖 gun, you GOTS to get one!
Any lever action that's bigger than 22lr fly off the shelves pretty quick.
I have the same rifle love it, call it my brass cannon
Right from the git go the hammer is in the fire position...what's up with that?
I would love a Henry 45-70. I would prefer tube fed.
I have shot the Marlin 45-70, higher capacity, 9 rounds. It is sweet.
Honestly, even with Buffalo Bore or Underwood, I think a 12 gauge kicks harder.
Wow I think😦 I was undervaluing the power of the cartridge. Until he said five times they kicked of a shotgun. I definitely need to do more research on the 45-70. In all honesty I didn’t even know it was a caliber
For me the 45-70 has same felt recoil as my 12-gauge shooting 3-inch magnum slugs
Yes dope drill, please. Wii not be a cheap test. Thanks Andrew
Il. Try and fig rumble
I understand dreaming about it Haha and I love how half the reviews are borrowed firearms! That's because henry has a customer service and production problem! and they've lost former customers like me because of it.
The trapdoor load is a lot lighter than the marlin load. Read the boxes.
I wish I bought this gun I got the 22...I was worried about the recoil
Just got the new Ruger marlin Trapper 45/70 , amazing better than my Winchester 1886
cool gun! ".45-70 recoil like a shotgun times 5" no....
Functional art.
Great "lever action" lol video AC 🇺🇸
Next time borrow a 2016 Marlin 1895 CB 45-70 18.5” barrel, 6+1, dark walnut forearm and butt stock, semi buckhorn rear and gold bead front sights.
👍🏻
Too bad they put two ports on the side, it detracts from that gorgeous brass. They Should have left the ejection on the top.
You dont need one. You need to get two. So, you can give me one. Hint, hint. 🤣🤣
“Probably one of the only things the government got right” lol
Like a shotgun times 5? What kinda shotgun you been shooting?. It’s about the same as 12 gauge with buckshot or slug. Settle down buddy
It's hardened brass, I'm pretty sure it'll be ok to use the loading gate.
Jessica, you have been warned 😂
How much of a man can you be when you're on a video and then you show the entire world that you're whipped and try to explain to her into the rest of the people oh I didn't buy it buy it anyway it's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is ask for permission
Lol, I wish the entire world was watching
Get them shoulders forward!
Yes, "those" would make my English teacher happier.
I sure wish folks would stop calling the Big Boy rifles "Golden Boys".
