I think this is one of the prime example where the owners design the house with their personality. It looks way better than most houses that are 2-3x the size. You can tell the owners love plants and they are not afraid to showcase their love for a tropical design. The divider + office is tastefully done and is a fantastic way to utilise space when every square inch valuable estates is so precious.
Looks like the perfect place to age. Enough room, but, not too much to care for. I, also, downsized after retirement to even less sq. ft. and have never regretted it or looked back and thought it was a mistake. Life is fun, make it as simple as possible. After having traveled in Asia for quite a bit of time, the only thing I would add would be a soaking tub. My aging body grew to love those during travels.
It's a really lovely and calm feeling. I like how they maximized storage by turning the place into a 1 bedroom unit and providing more storage than usual with the dining room wall bench, the hallway closet, the TV area, and in the bedroom. Since the kitchen is so small I think they keep their cooking to a simple food and likely eat out or order prepared food in. Good for them.
I do like the botanical print as it really add interest to the space which would otherwise look boring. However having that at the narrow entry way made the area look cluttered. I also like the choice of furniture and the dividing open shelves. Open shelves isn’t something that you find at most homes here. The only thing that doesn’t look right to me is having the TV wall merged with the kitchen cabinet. First time i saw microwave, toaster and kettle placed next to TV😂The transition from kitchen to TV is very abrupt. If the ID spent some effort on the carpentry design, it shouldn’t turned out this weird. For example having a lift up door or pocket door to hide the appliances and counter space. Why bother to have a concealed fridge but add clutter to the space with a pile of appliances right next to TV ? Further, wouldnt heat, vapour and cooking fumes from the kitchen damage the TV ?
I love all the horizontal lines and foliage wallpaper. This is a perfect retirement home. The glass partition at the bedroom enhances the size of the apartment.
Very eloquent presenter, so well-spoken and articulate. Really so much better than some property channels out there. Love the home, such a calm and soothing resting space. Thank you for another quality video, StackedHomes
Lovely home and well presented by the host of the video. Would've liked to have seen the original floor plan as a 2BR to see what the designer started with.
Very very trendy and low maintenance space. The glass room divider really elevated luxury. You can see it’s designed for the home owner. Great storage and I love the bathroom scale which give you that resort feel indeed. Perfect for professional couple or single or retiree.
That apartment or/condo is perfectly designed love every detail. And that’s great that it has a lot of storage area, plus a home office. I’d like the idea of the curtain given the bedroom privacy when needed.
Beautiful place and the unit is excellently designed to fit the needs of the occupants. Would have loved though to see variety in the pendant lights according to the part of the house where they are placed, but, overall still a very nice, cozy space.
What vibe, love it! There are some compromises here and there, some slightly jarring (TV next to a microwave), but all in all it is a wonderful apartment that’s very in tune with the area it’s in.
Nice design, love the theme and seamless connectivity throughout the home. Wish that the toilet space can be cut down to give way to living space. If the sofa is pushed out a little away from the tatami it will be better. The TV is so near microwave, it looks a bit off 😅
This is a beautiful space, but I’m surprised it would be for a couple and not just one person. With the bedroom being exposed, I would think it disturbing if one person is resting or watching tv. If it were just me alone, this space would be perfect. I love it.
It is a nice design and the theme works well for the setting. I would rather not see kitchen appliances while watching tv, but I'm sure it is the perfect layout for them as we all have different needs.
Imagine, spending $85k to remove a room. And people say renting is throwing money away. Thats actually common too. And people say that if I spend $5 coffee to make my life better every day, I'm throwing money away. LOL Regardless of the rant nice place. I'd spend $1500/month to rent it.
For retirees, it poses a challenge to upkeep the place tidy and dust-free, there is no assisted railings for near future needs too. Definitely need a domestic assistant.
It's well designed to the needs of the owners. However considering their ages, there should be some rounded edges for safety reasons. For example the dining table and seats. They should also have some bathroom aids such as safety grab bars. I know it's probably gonna look ugly but better be safe than sorry.
There isnt a industry specific definition of renovation cost but it will generally include fittings/fixtures which cannot be removed, (ie built in cabinetry/facuets/sinks/showers) but definitely will exclude movables like furniture/appliances. Usually air-cons and/or ceiling fans are also not included in renovation costs even though they are not movable.
Beautiful renovation... although I think its devalue the price of the property from initially 2 bedrooms apartment turning into only 1 bedroom apartment.... but I guess if the owner will never have intention to sell it in the near future, thats wont be a problem...
Amazing that this is less than 700sq ft. I love the clean lines. Interesting that there are no Asian artifacts. We raised our family in Hong Kong during the Colonial era and still have a Chinese theme going,
Good morning Stacked team! Love your videos as always, been watching since my own pre-reno but has continued to watch even after :) May I please check if you know who’s the curtain track installer that’s featured in the master bedroom or do I just reach out to Sponge directly to enquire? Thanks in advance.
Beautiful design. But: where is the washing machine? Why a second shower in such a small place? Where do they hide their clutter? Hard to believe that this is their only home
The combination washer/dryer was behind a panel at the end of the kitchen counter. I agree that 2 full baths doesn't make sense in a 1 BR apt. There was a lot of built-in/concealed storage, though "clutter" may not be as common in some parts of the world as others.
Simply put.. not my fav. The botanical prints are too loud and extensive, the black walls extending from the kitchen to living is too stark a contrast, and the glass panel/walls exposing the only bedroom is impractical. Nonetheless thanks for showing off this home!
This renovation is really comprehensive and well thought out, kudos to the designer and home owner. However , gosh is this what a new 2 bedder condo unit looks like now? It looks smaller and has less usable space than a new 3 room bto despite having the same footage. Even more than 10 years ago i found the size of new condo launch units unacceptable for living, let alone now.
The "concealed" (covered in cabinets) look is brutal --not appealing. A kitchen is SUPPOSED TO HAVE A REFRIGERATOR, A DISHWASHER, ETC. Showing KITCHEN APPLIANCES in a KITCHEN...DOES NOT create visual clutter. Covering EVERYTHING in the same cabinets, however, DOES take away the much-need spatial RELIEF on the eyes. What SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED was the wall dividing the living room and the bedroom. I understand leaving SOME openess for light to pass through, and to not make a small space feel even smaller, but the bedroom should have some sense of privacy. Perhaps instead of all that glass, a wooden-slatted wall would have been appropriate.
It’s kind of useless to do a Reno video, without talking about the cost. Cost of the property, cost of renovation, cost of furnishing. Anyone can make a space beautiful if they have money.
It is terrible, sorry but I have to comment. There are some elements that are interesting, like that mega size wallpaper (not my style but ok), but omg, the rest? That ridiculous living room with tiny loveseat and some 'storage/daybed' instead of nice corner seating area, that stupid oversized plant in the living room, but the worst parts are that kitchen with heavy black top and light bottom. Two colours never look good and/or age quickly but this is just terrible, heavy and it feels it is storm. Then that ridiculous glass wall and even more ridiculous curtain that wraps around. Some people have money but no taste, and you can't help this.

Truly a practical decision to move into a smaller space. It's so tastefully done too. Wishing them good health and many years of togetherness 😊
Aww thanks for your kind words!

I’m 70 and I’d happily live there, very well designed.
Thanks!
This home is so cosy yet so modern and fancy! I loved this!!
Thank you!
Love this home! Its modern, tropical and doesn't feel cluttered.

This home is wonderful and styled so beautifully.
Thank you 🙌
So beautiful. It is like living in a resort!
That would be the dream! To feel like you're at a resort everyday 💯
The home looks posh and well done. But what I really dig is the balcony.
Thanks!

Absolutely beautiful! 10 of 10!

Love the inflated renovation price.

They are currently only 60 plus. Perhaps in about 10 years' time...
They are well to do I assumed.perhaps a weekly cleaner coming into the space to housekeep.
It's well designed to the needs of the owners. However considering their ages, there should be some rounded edges for safety reasons. For example the dining table and seats. They should also have some bathroom aids such as safety grab bars.
I know it's probably gonna look ugly but better be safe than sorry.
Thank you for those insights 😊
Hi Team, Are the Apartment size in Super Built-up Area or Carpet Area?
May I know the 85k reno cost is purely for renovation itself or does it includes other things like furnitures, appliances and other fittings?
Edit: nvm, I think it’s all inclusive
Bathrooms alone look like 10-13k each.
There isnt a industry specific definition of renovation cost but it will generally include fittings/fixtures which cannot be removed, (ie built in cabinetry/facuets/sinks/showers) but definitely will exclude movables like furniture/appliances. Why would renovation include furnitures and appliances???
Very nice
Thank you 🙌

Wow 😮🥰🥰🥰🔥🇬🇧
Lovely tour, thank you....why do utubers all speak in the same style? Would be nice if you could narrate as if you are chatting to your audience...
Great job with the reno. Very beautiful. But omg that's a 2 bedroom unit?? Developers these days. Tsk tsk tsk
Yes it's hard to believe it used to be a two bedroom unit - very small spaces. But the reno is amazing with maximum yet unobtrusive storage.
Amazing that this is less than 700sq ft. I love the clean lines. Interesting that there are no Asian artifacts. We raised our family in Hong Kong during the Colonial era and still have a Chinese theme going,
Thank you watching!
👌
Glad you like the video 😊
What about laundry?
Too hotel-ly like for my taste.
Good morning Stacked team! Love your videos as always, been watching since my own pre-reno but has continued to watch even after :)

Hey! You can enquire directly with them!
😍
Very pretty but I'd never switched a home for small apartament. What motivates people for such a drastic change?
Thank you for watching!
probably children flew the coop and home too big for just the 2 of them. Also apartments are often located more convenient and closer to the amenities
Bedroom closets?????? Lovely, though.
Thank you 🙌

they wanted a resort style home thats open with the light coming in... not like anyones coming n going while they sleep lol
Theres " curtain tracks wrap around the room" ...can pull the curtain around for privacy
What a nice "luxury" apartment.
Thanks for dropping by!

They need an armchair in the living room -- the sofa simply doesn't offer enough seating.

看起来还是马来的设计师比新加坡的好。。。新加坡的确实不如人家
Nothing special.😮😮😮
