Throughout the lore and books the eldar try not to engage the imperium because it is beneath them but if the upstart humans enter eldar space or try to take over there planets or exterminate them they bring the full might of there craftworlds to bear...and no imperial navy fleet ever "wins" a battle with the eldar in space or on the ground. If things dont go there way the eldar simply retreat and wait and see what happens only to return when the enemy least expects it. Also this edition saddens me a bit even though the eldar are one of the strongest armies on the tabletop now which they deserve they have lost there scychic prowess but even with this loss If you are an eldar player and you know how to tailor to the enemies you face you can table oponents without losing more than a quarter of your force no matter who you fight against. For khaine!
The dark eldar are sometimes called the kings of the galaxy and the webway. They are powerful and often clone themselves to the point cloned vat born eldar make up primary of the armies, the city of commarragh is unimaginably large.
loving the history series! really looking forward to a necron episode, as i dont know too much about them :P, and a tau history, just because i have to big-up the home team!
@ShadowKnight275 The Dark Eldar are basically Eldar that went down the darker path before The Fall and managed to escape though the Web Way when The Fall occurred.
Here's the thing with Tau: Besides needing sound tactics to use them and they being an unforgiving army, if your opponent has the same skill and puts the same amount of effort into tactics, he will usually win with a more updated army.
This video is nicely presented :) I run an army of Eldar and this is a good summary of the Hand Book, although, of course, the book is in greater detail. Still, resourceful! ^^
if anyone actually knows about warhammer fiction it is that tau are in fact a dying race hence them recruiting other armies such as vespid and kroot, eldar are OK on their ever expanding craft worlds, small in number in comparison to the imperium, but more more elite, and btw dark eldar are battle brothers as they are not evil they just get pleasure out of torture etc 8D
Even before all this was a war between the necron with the C'tan to kill the old ones. With that war, it brought the creation of the eldar and orks. They were created to be the old ones defense from the C'tan forces. Eventually the old ones fell and the necron had they're own cival wars. With that they fell into millenniums long slumber and the eldar soon became the dominant force in the galaxy.
@redchicken basically, that's the theory put forth by some farseers; that when the last eldar dies, a "death god" will be birthed as slaanesh was, but it will destroy slaanesh and bring "balance" back... basically it'll be like Vader defeating Palpatine at the end after all those years of helping him secure his position and power.
between, the necron, ork codex's and the 40k wiki page I believe and maybe a little in the eldar codex. The orks refer to the old ones as "da brain boyz."
this is very nice , to finally have the full truth about the eldar. you know i have heard all kinds of opinions from other people, but to learn the warhammer 40k company truth is great. i'm a squats 40k guy, and ofcourse i've heard all kinds of what happened stories. but please could you investigate and give the real complete history. please i'm sure i'm not the only person who would really want to know the full historical story from beginning to end o the squats.
In the End, the eldar will all have to become a race of wraiths, all surviving on in their spirit stones. It seems they are destined to become something akin to necrons, fleshless, yet retaining their souls. I Love Eldar.
And how do you sell this to each race? The eldar would likely see such an alliance as a weakness that their enemies would exploit in the long run, with their newfound allies being sluggish and dull witted. The Tau would likely insist that both the Imperium and the Eldar incorperate themselves into the Tau consortium, and the Imperium would be turning its back on one of its most sacred principals. The alliance would fail.
The fact most of them don't want to, thats advancement of plot and the return attacks of the Imperium simply cause Eldar lives being wasted pointlessly.
@xXJetwiiXx im sure they get a new one end of 2011 or 2012... forge wolrd already published new models like the warp assault walker, shadow spectre or a new version of the viper with more weapons (looks like a mini falcon or sth :D) so they definitely get a new one ;)
I've never tried tau but to me they seem complicated. If you like SM, you would love SW, fenrisian wolves are like troops you can have lots of and use only a small amount of your points.
Deep in their history, they became slaves to gluttony. This eventually created the fourth chaos god, Slaanesh who, in his awakening breath, snuffed out a large percentage of the Eldar. The only survivors were those who had already fled from their homeworlds, the exodites, dark eldar and craftworld eldar. They have wildly different takes on life, some craftworlds varying greatly, but all of them long to renew the eldar race.
This is really awesome. Only negative thing I have to say is that you need to pause between sentences, that is my only complaint. Other than that, yall did a GREAT job. :)
I feel them and for how doomed humanity is due to it's own stubbon arrogance. the races that could ally to defend overcome the forces of evil are: eldar, tau and humanity (most likely lead by the ordo xenos)
That epic living thing is the ONLY reason Ulthwé is allowed to live. Find another Craftworld that has accomplished something on that level, and I might not turn my Exterminatus fleet loose on it.
*rune priest lash out in several directions, trying to shield some of their battle brothers from the carnage. the lead one suddenly unleashes the jaws of the world wolf upon the demonic host as Wulfen proceed to intercept the scourges and Kabalite warriors*
@antifysik I always thought that they were Eldar who had stayed on the planet and survived the awakening of Slanesh...but then they would still be on the crone worlds and that's obviously not the case as the Dark eldar homeworld is not a crone world.
@xj40002 no quite..watch the necron video this guy did and it sais that the necrons forced the old ones to make eldar and orks to fight the catan(or however you spell it)
Need to do a new eldar history update the birth of the god of death and the discovery of the ancient swords hinted at prince yriel killed by a blood thirster only to be brought back to life by the twilight spear used by the god of death , this hints at a way the eldar or in this case the souls of the dead have found a way to use the crystal matrix to breath life into the recently fallen or preserved dead ( the orginal phoenix lords if found could be revived instead of passing on the ancient armour) The fracture of biel-tan is the start of a possible reunion of the eldar craftwords under the yanari. Although dying is a given even death will be mastered by the eldar.
I would be playing Tau but another guy in my group decided to, and being the person I am, I just let him. Doing my research on Eldar now, they seem cool :)
I've got to say that makes no sense I'd just play Tau too. I wouldn't play a race I don't want to play especially when it costs a ton of money to play.
+cyclone8974 Exactly. Play whatever army you want to play. The Tau may be new but even they have a rich history and if not for how little the Eldar have changed (my first taste of 40K lore other than Space Marine was my friends Eldar Codex.) since my roommate played them I would probably be playing Tau myself!
I want to buy a dark eldar codex so I can add and attachment to my eldar. For some reason they're battle brothers. I like there gothic colour sceme, but with the neon highlights. Almost the opposite of the eldar colour.
*rune portals open behind me as Thunderwolf Calvary come barreling forth* The Allfather shall never falter, and neither shall the might of the Imperium. BACK TO THE WARP WITH YE, FOUL WRETCHES!
Actually its believed that the fall of the Eldar occured around M25 when the age of strife began and the warp went bat **** more then ususal due to the birth of Slaanesh. His creation was a result of Eldar behaving badly for well over a a thousand years. The eldar mentioned are ones who reformed thier wicked acts.
*several more rune portals open up, unleashing the full might of the Space Wolves 13th Company onto the field* You have been contended, Warp Spawn. Now taste the wrath of the 13th Company! *the frenzied howl of the Wulfen flood the field as they begin to eradicate the demonic host*
technicly the humans are all responsible for the chaos gods...to my undertsanding the chaos gods infected a bunch imperial gurads who had odd phyker powers. (or somthing like that.)
I always thought of the Eldar as just Elves In Space, but this video made them seem pretty bad-ass! I might have to get into them, though that stupid pointy helmet thing definitely has to go.
@TheStargateNerd Yup, it says it in the credits. ;)
I've travelled many fantasy/sci-fi hobby settings, and found unmatched poetry in the Eldar background.
Your voice really gave this video an appropriately foreboding tone. Great job.
The dark eldar are sometimes called the kings of the galaxy and the webway. They are powerful and often clone themselves to the point cloned vat born eldar make up primary of the armies, the city of commarragh is unimaginably large.
Same here. Space wolves for my elite army, tyranids for my horde and massive army, and eldar for my "magical" magic army.
Please do a video on the Laughing God, great vids!!!
loving the history series! really looking forward to a necron episode, as i dont know too much about them :P, and a tau history, just because i have to big-up the home team!
As a Blood Angels player I´ve always struggled against Eldar.
So they became my 2nd army =3 speed, firepower and damn great codex.
Sounds like my university days.
@ShadowKnight275 The Dark Eldar are basically Eldar that went down the darker path before The Fall and managed to escape though the Web Way when The Fall occurred.

If there's anything I've learned in my history of watching sci-fi, it's to not underestimate dying races...

What's the track in the back ground?
for those of us acking time to read every codex, to research every enemy our armies might face- these are great vids. Thanks guys for these vids!
Their should be a mission where you launch a rescue mission on the eye of terror
Actually, they're called "Waystones" until the Eldar dies, and their soul is absorbed, at which point it is called a Spirit Stone.
Wow... what a tragic lore. But it also serves as a lesson: never let your curiosity get better of your morality.
volksdude1970 yeah or dont be the fucking eldar
Depends, I'd say both can work. I'm generally partial to craftworlders, but DEldar can put out some serious (if fragile) firepower.
Wow I hadn't realised how far eldar models have come on since 2011... wow
eldar maybe a dying race, but in the hands of a skilled player they can really slap some serious hurt even with their outdated codex.
"... With a certain degree of awkwardness." I lol'd.
"The Eldar are a dying race."
My Archon agrees.
Brilliant summary; atmospheric and evocative.
Its amusing how sad his voice sounds when he speaks about Slanesh devoring Eldar souls.
"The eldar are the dying race."
The countless billions-strong realm of Commorragh disagrees.

@shurikencatapult well the grey knights were made to stop and hold off the attacks of demons and creatures alike.
In the End, the eldar will all have to become a race of wraiths, all surviving on in their spirit stones. It seems they are destined to become something akin to necrons, fleshless, yet retaining their souls. I Love Eldar.

"The Eldar are a dying race." My Acheron disagrees.
@shurikencatapult i agree im not much of a fan of space marines but grey knights just grabed my attention. the ironic thing is i play chaos lol.
The fact most of them don't want to, thats advancement of plot and the return attacks of the Imperium simply cause Eldar lives being wasted pointlessly.
Would love to see a Redux of this one, it would be nice to see some paintjobs and hd pics.
@Separate yet equal Me: can I do sound effects. You: sure, random crazy bloke who I don't know. Me: yaay, Nom Nom Nom.
@xXJetwiiXx im sure they get a new one end of 2011 or 2012... forge wolrd already published new models like the warp assault walker, shadow spectre or a new version of the viper with more weapons (looks like a mini falcon or sth :D)

Angron is prepared to back this statement up.
Question: Shrine of the Ebon Witch is an Ulthwé shrine?
I've never tried tau but to me they seem complicated. If you like SM, you would love SW, fenrisian wolves are like troops you can have lots of and use only a small amount of your points.
If the Eldar are capable of living so long and becoming so wise, why are they getting their asses kicked so badly?
Deep in their history, they became slaves to gluttony. This eventually created the fourth chaos god, Slaanesh who, in his awakening breath, snuffed out a large percentage of the Eldar. The only survivors were those who had already fled from their homeworlds, the exodites, dark eldar and craftworld eldar. This is really awesome. Only negative thing I have to say is that you need to pause between sentences, that is my only complaint. Other than that, yall did a GREAT job. :)
And the Dark Eldar are well for make sure that you are wrong. *nibbling through power crystal of the Archon on Necrons soul*
*smites Slaanesh with the wrath of the Emperor* Back, foul warp spawn!
"Well said, Mon-Keigh, well said..."
XD
@xXJetwiiXx wait this year you may get a suprise. Besides despite the codexs being old it's still one of the best if used right :)
@GhostDivisionAirsoft If you read a few other codex's like the Necron codex you will see the bitz they missed out.
To summon up all of this: The Eldar are leaving, breathing heresy.
@theclash24 Nonesense, Dave with a solemn voice is AWESOME!
@Tidylordlouis dont chew more than you can swallow
or
dont swallow more than you can chew (something like that)

Great vid, thank you for providing it free!
@antifysik I always thought that they were Eldar who had stayed on the planet and survived the awakening of Slanesh...but then they would still be on the crone worlds and that's obviously not the case as the Dark eldar homeworld is not a crone world.
@BrokenSp00n because...living for 1000 years doesnt mean you live forever...they can still die, it just takes longer...
@xj40002 no quite..watch the necron video this guy did and it sais that the necrons forced the old ones to make eldar and orks to fight the catan(or however you spell it)
Thanks for the reupload.

Although dying is a given even death will be mastered by the eldar.
My space puppies have never lost to Eldar!
"The Eldar are a dying race"
My Avatar of Kaine disagrees.
*Your argument is invalid*
the last pic looked like that miniature gum that was squished by a shoe
I wouldn't call any army that is just based on choosing targets to fire and then roll the dices "hard to master".
I actually find the tau quite easy just because thats the type of tactic i use in all games is sit back and wait while i gun down from a far

They are indeed. But my Kabal works with none of the two.
So what exactly is stopping the Eldar from one planet at a time rebuilding their empire?
I want to buy a dark eldar codex so I can add and attachment to my eldar.
For some reason they're battle brothers.
I like there gothic colour sceme, but with the neon highlights. Almost the opposite of the eldar colour.
*rune portals open behind me as Thunderwolf Calvary come barreling forth* The Allfather shall never falter, and neither shall the might of the Imperium. BACK TO THE WARP WITH YE, FOUL WRETCHES!
sometimes I feel like you are reading directly out of the codex

As does my tactically deployed scout titan squad.
Eldar must have amazing internet.
Its a case of the single unit is not the most powerful, its how its used in conjunction with other assets.
@gurtznak Has there ever been a cross breed of an eldar and human?
@kairon156 I agree. They look too much like they are from an Anime, same goes for the tau.
That's an accident the entire galaxy is paying for. Your arguments are invalid until it is sorted out.
The eldar are a dying race.
Necrons: good.
So if the Eldar are dying race, is that why they aren't getting a new codex?
What music did you use for the video? Sounds familiar.
he is reading from the eldar codex...so it would deffinatly mention them...
*several more rune portals open up, unleashing the full might of the Space Wolves 13th Company onto the field* You have been contended, Warp Spawn. Now taste the wrath of the 13th Company! *the frenzied howl of the Wulfen flood the field as they begin to eradicate the demonic host*

"The Eldar are a dying race"
My Bright Lance disagrees.
*Your argument is invalid*
And to stop their dying problem they should'nt pick fights with Space Marines, Chaos or anything that wears power Armour for that matter.
it sounds like the story of the race of the Chozo or the species of Aether in Metroid Prime 2
I always thought of the Eldar as just Elves In Space, but this video made them seem pretty bad-ass! I might have to get into them, though that stupid pointy helmet thing definitely has to go.
That's the voice you hear when you read from Lexicum
@Karhax
but it is starting to fall apart
O'Shova ??????
is eldar travel exclusively via webway? cause wont it be easier 2 restirict their movements by breaking all the webway gates in the universe
Which is a better army, Craft World or Dark Eldar? (For range and vehicles like tanks)
This is pretty much Dark Eldar history.
does anyone else feel that the eldar fluff is similar to the downfall of the romans
All will fall to the neverending chaos that is my army...of Dark Eldar...probly not going to live long.
no you are not dying. you are long dead
my necron lord agrees
