Thanks Jer! I’ve a long ways to go until I can really rip like friends I ski with but I’m having a blast that’s for sure & learning bit more each time! Also when solo & depending on conditions I dial back. Thanks for watching another adventure and have awesome days!

Great video, good filming and editing. Nice snow. I haven’t snowboarded in years. Been checking out split boarding and want to integrate it with my camping. This video is exactly what I want to do. Where are you? Nice tree area, there spaced apart compared to typical north east terrain.

Thanks for encouraging comments! I would suggest considering your terrain & who you plan to backcountry tour with before deciding to choose skiing or split boarding. Avalanche Skills Training (AST) is a must for you and your touring buddies safety. I would also strongly encourage you taking minimum the AST 1 before heading into backcountry. AST 1 training could also be great time to try out some ski/split board gear from local rental shop and could help you decide either on skis or split boarding. I used to ski & than switched to snowboard at ski hills, and was considering split boarding for back country. But after talking with many backcountry friends & researching it, I decided to choose ski touring. It’s amazing how much terrain one can travel through on ski’s. From what I understand it’s easier/faster to transition from skin to downhill mode on ski’s, less transitions required etc. Just my 2 cents and the backcountry ski’s feel like having snowboard on each foot as wide for powder in the backcountry so still tons of fun. It’s a personal decision but just my thoughts. The backcountry is a tricky place not to take lightly. I’ve been thankful to have gained experience before ski touring xc skiing, trail running, mountaineering/hiking/camping/ice climbing etc so please take your time & get trained up and find experienced people to go with. Recommend buying the essential gear & survival gear before venturing into back country. Have awesome days!

@@airoutthere thanks for the advice. I’m in the north east of America where avalanches aren’t much of a problem and I’m experienced in the backcountry just not with split boards. I do plan on doing very simple terrain because being alone is a very risky proposition. Any problem out there in no man’s land can be real bad without someone else to help out. You’re lucky to have so much snow so early. Where are you? This video is exactly what I’m trying to do. Great stuff

Cool vid, but lesson 1: don’t tie the tent lines to trees that are unstable and gonna blow in the breeze
