    One of the better tips I've learned is to start a phrase on the upbeat. It will instantly make you sound better.

    Another constraint I use is to only use one finger. It forces more intentionality, slides, and legato.

    Over a Dominant 7 chord in a Blues: play 1-3-5-b7 (chord tones); b3 (into 3), 4-b5-6-2 (in that order of importance); b2-b6-7 as passing tones. That’s all 12!
