To be fair, I made a tiny home village and campground without ever staying in any places like this. But I didnt start with Airbnb or glamping in mind. I just started building tiny homes to avoid building permits. 20 years later, it turned out to be hip and was a nice transition from the collapsing cannabis industry I had relied on for the 20 years prior.

Great video. I love that you said creativity can be a difference maker. So true. So I did everything for my business for 7 years. 24-7 support, property management, carpentry, cleaning, marketing, photography, etc. it takes a lot out of you, but if you’re willing to grind you can generate cash flow directly from customers without a middle man except for Airbnb. Also be prepared for Airbnb to shut down your profile for any reason possible and city regulations to change. So you must be listed on the alternative sites. But if you’re obsessed with the concept of serving guests, you’re chances of success are much higher than someone only in it for the money. But Airbnb will grind on you, so enjoy the journey.

One site already has an amish built cabin-style shed that we bought as a repo for our own personal use. However, my dreams of living off-grid were dashed by cancer, so I'll never be able to live there full time. I'm weak but I can still think and manage. My partner is physically fit and strong, and he has lots of friends willing to help us complete the cabin and landscaping. We still need to cut proper trails through the property. I think we might be decent candidates to start a glamping business. However, the property is sort of treacherous. It's on a 25 to 30 degree slope with ridgetop views. I've been in the airbnb business for 4 years (full-time). I survived the covid year of homes having close to no bookings (quarintine & other travel restrictions). I started as a cleaner and was trained by an amazing woman to help her manage her business. I now own a small business and do the cleaning and management myself, my old mentor retired. I keep house commitments minimal and learned the hard way not to spread myself thin. It's a very hard business to get into, and schedules, deadlines, consistent communication, and anticipation for upcoming maintenance (back-up inventory, predicting potential problems in real-time) are essential to consistent 5 star, stress-free experiences. It can be labor intensive, stressful, there are days where you don't know if you can get a job done on time or sometimes things happen that you couldnt predict. Most of the time, when you see everything is guest ready & staged to perfection, it's so amazing! Liked it just before ya asked for a like... props and respekt for being very real about things. I'm lucky enough to have a fairly high income when I work, and multiple side incomes, so I'll probably give it a try. But this video still had value for me. It's never as easy as it looks online. I've done several home improvement projects and it's never as easy as the YT videos make it look. There's always a lot more personal effort. But in this case, I have the money, experience, personality and tenacity to make it happen... so I'll keep moving forward.
Thanks for enjoying the vid and I’m glad it provided value! Good luck on your journey and I am def rooting for you! Experience and personality will take you SOOOO far. With experience you won’t have to pay what I call “ the stupid tax” lol. I wasted a lot of money learning and buying the wrong things, and not returning them, or things like that. Also, with personality, you will be speaking with a lot of different people often and will have to wear many hats. You seem like you are definitely up to the task though! Keep me updated on what you have going on!
Thanks for the comment man! I am still getting better at RUclips and I figuring out how to best get out my thoughts and message so comments like this keep me going. Glad this video was helpful for you!
I helped run an Airbnb with 2 cabins on a property. You MUST be friendly, hospitable, extremely clean, and organized. If you aren't willing to fix a clogged toilet at 3am then you will have to pay a property manager to take care of those kinds of things.
That is so true! If you're not willing to roll your sleeves up and get down and dirty then this business is just not for you! P.S. Would you be open to being featured on this youtube channel? Your experience running the 2 cabins lets me know for sure you probably have some advice or tips that could help us all out! If interested email me at: jamie@windwoodco.com
@@KeepItTiny I was trying to help a neighbor who is 80 years old with his two Airbnb cabins. I wound up being the CoHost for about a Year. With proper online listings and lower mid week prices, I got the cabins making about $8,000 a month! Honestly, it was all a trainwreck once the bookings went up. The owner needed to retire and the two people that did maintenance and cleaning did terrible work. No one was in charge, no one was getting paid enough, and the Owner wasn't willing to make changes.
I don’t think the whole tiny home, glamping thing is what I want to start. I want to start a rv / tent campground but this video is still very helpful. I grew up camping tent and rving, in all different types of campgrounds, I absolutely love it. Just started my research and I’m seeing so many negatives, but my love for camping and the outdoors will motivate me
GREAT....great great video👌🏻 Everything you said, all true. I have slept in every kind of house, unique stay...in the cold ground with no mat. Hip camp and tenting in very remote areas ALONE. Getting down to the level of what OTHERS want, is necessity!!!
Thanks man!!! It actually means a lot to me! I am trying my hardest to build this channel up but most importantly provide real value to the people who take the time to check out my videos.

I'm glad I found you. I was very inspired by the end of this video. Well done. It has been 18 months since I started my project and I just made my first $1k. Heading in to the off season in West Michigan. Maybe I'll get some hearty winter campers but I won't get a lot. Spring 2023 is going to be lit though. My goal is $15k next year. Then I'll build another one.

Awesome advice Jay, it's definitely not for everyone but if you're looking to get in, you need to make sure you have the resilience to get through anything that comes your way because there will be plenty of problems to solve! Anyone can do this with the right mentality though!
Someone who hosts a tent on Airbnb in Virginia told me that tiny homes (tents, domes etc) can undergo a lot of wear and tear, and their maintenance requirements are much more strenuous than normal Airbnb homes. Can you please offer your insights to this? She almost talked me out of Glamping, in favor of regular Airbnb options. Thank you!
I run traditional airbnbs and also tents and glamping - I would say glamping is more difficult to set up at the beginning but maintaining both is pretty much the same. Glamping has less for me to worry about long term, a home is more complex and would need specialized people to go in and fix things. I pretty much can handle everything that needs to be done at my glampsite. Sorry if this was too long. Hope it was helpful!
No problem! I love helping people out and passing along the info I have learned over the years so others don't have to make my mistakes and learn on the fly.
I think the resourcefulness is my weak part. I'm thinking about starting a glamping business. Don't have the money yet but I'm saving right now. I just don't know where to get started tho
If you don't know where to get started then you are def in the right place my friend lol !!! All jokes aside I working on a strong video that details the perfect places to start when just getting started.
@@KeepItTiny Thanks bro, can't wait to see your video. Licensing, water, electricity, bathroom, shower and winter are all my main concerns at the moment. I live in Canada and it snows half of the year so I couldn't decide between going with tent/dome or small wooden houses. It would be great if you cover these subjects in your video as well 😀
Yo honestly, this comment right here pushed me to finally set up an instagram account for this channel. Thanks man, i needed that. Plz follow me over at @keepittiny.meda (dm me too and i'll give you my personal account too)
Great video...I am buying 1/2 a hectare 10 minutes from the sea in Italy. The property is about 10 minutes from a biggish town, but it's fairly isolated. There are three houses at the gate and I want to set up a site about 300 meters from the house, it's pretty wild, lots of trees etc. Is that isolated enough to do something...how much isolation is enough? Definitely love your idea of visiting a few sites and I will...I mostly camp in my tent and haven't been to one of these types of places. But i know I would enjoy it.
Always! I want to keep it real with people so they know what they are getting themselves into. Good luck to you man if you decide to get in on the game. Its challenging but rewarding when things begin to work out.
I have 100 acres in Vermont and was thinking about doing something like this. Is this a bad idea? I was going to make maybe four camp sites to see how it goes.
Hello! I would like to get advice. But I still do not know English well, I speak Russian. Is it possible to get advice in correspondence through Google translator? It would suit me. If yes, where do you write?
Your first tip is kinda odd since I personally have never ever met an AirBnB host over the dozens of stays I've had over the years. Are you saying that with glamping/tiny home businesses, you meet with the guests in person? If anything, I would argue that any airbnb business is good for introverted folks since they can just use templates to communicate with guests. Luckily I do consider myself outgoing and personable but your first tip sorta confused me. This is supposed to be a "passive income" investment so not sure how in person social skills come into play. Peace
@@KeepItTiny Hey believe me, I have tried to talk the wife into letting me put a few glamps on here haha. I got to find me some more property for that. Still debating between buying something in my area and doing that vs. a cabin in Western NC area.
Happy wife, happy life! Plus that is also making sure you don't rush into anything and get jammed up by making a mistake. You have the time to plot and plan your attack!
Yes you can but you have to build the business around how you are already living your life. As in, the glamping site would have to be small, close by you, and with few moving parts to run it as efficiently as possible. It won't be easy but it is possible but just DO NOT try to build or run something out of your means.
Long story short, we have a dome we plan to build out in Williams Arizona (Grand Canyon area) and are running into all kinds of issues with zoning/permits. We also live in California, so coordinating the build has also been extremely difficult since there can’t be many hiccups since it’s a 7hr drive each time we go. We have a guy to do the build, but haven’t been able to figure out all the details yet. We’re in at this point. Spent a ton of money so it’s past the point of return. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Hi Chad, good luck to you on your project. I live 3.5 hours away from my site as well. California can be pretty tricky when it comes to zoning and permitting. Unfortunately I am not a zoning expert at all and ran into similar issues. If zoning is the only issue holding you back you can always reach out to a true expert. You would be looking for a City Planner who would step in and handle the process for you. Of course this will make you spend a little more but you may be in the market for someone like this. (If you would like I can give you a recommendation of a great one that you could reach out to) Good luck bro and I hope this channel helps you along the way. Plz keep me updated with whats going on with your dome.
@@KeepItTiny thanks so much for your reply! My land isn’t in California, it’s in Williams Arizona. Yes, any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Hi Chad, in my latest video I got a zoning expert with over 15 years of experience to give us his tips and ticks. A lot of people have requested this style of video and I think it would be helpful for you: ruclips.net/video/KIwZqvrKtWQ/видео.html

A loss of about 25,000 Lots of lessons being learned at the moment (the hard way obviously) God is good either way :) Thanks again 🙏
With some airbnb's you never see or talk to the guests. With glamping it naturally is a bit more hands on. Its all about knowing yourself and what you are good at and also what you want to do. You forget about all of the hippies lol - def a lot of hippies coming to glampsites too lol
I got my land in upstate NY. Hell of a deal ahe? That being said you really need to continue looking, widen your search, maybe look into smaller parcels, land that's further out of the major areas, and be ready A$AP to pull the trigger when you find "the one" or else its going to get snatched up quickly. You got this Michelle!!!!

This video is meant to motivate in a comical way. Check out some of my other videos and you'll see I am a big proponent of this industry.

It isn't a negative video at all but I do crack a joke about the Von Dutch comment you made on another video lol. Firt thing ck to see if you can do what ya want on the land you would like to do it on. There's very few places that the zones allow it.

I have to see your A-Frame cabin bud! Upload that video, ASAP! :)
haha, its coming man. That thing was no where near as easy as I thought it would be. I've got the complete build coming in one video next monday.
The 2 9's looked like the ultimate warrior mask..good info man
Really loved the vid mate. It's given me real food for thought.
Thanks for the comment and i'm glad you found the video interesting
You have a very creative a powerful message. Made me think! Important message at very important point!
EXACTLY - it really is one of the most important aspects of all of this. A good host can make a tent feel like The Grand Budapest Hotel lol
@@KeepItTinyesse pensamento, foi a melhor das inspirações. Vou guardar. 😂
Love the brutal honesty! Keep up the great videos!
If you would have said you went to the holiday inn I would have blocked you. Great channel. I’m your newest subscriber!

I'm built tougher than giving up or taking the easy way out. My goals are too big. Thanks for helping me out and supporting the channel!!!
I’m up for it! Keep the tips coming!
Love the channel.
Also love that your replying to all the comments.
You just got yourself a new subscriber.
Thanks man!!! It actually means a lot to me! I am trying my hardest to build this channel up but most importantly provide real value to the people who take the time to check out my videos.
Don’t ever tell people what they can’t do. This is America we can do what we like just because you failed doesn’t mean others will
LMAO, you obviously didn't watch the video? Or maybe you didn't get it. MY WHOLE CHANNEL is all about starting a glamping business. This video is a satire meant to motivate you into starting a glamping business. Check out my other vids giving tips and tricks and good luck to you on your project.
You are doing so great! I scrolled and was shocked you have so few subscribers!
Thank you so much!! I'm new at all of this and have only been on youtube a few months. I know one day i'm going to get the subs and recognition I think my videos deserve. I'm in it for the long haul! Let me know if there are some things I'm doing wrong or could change!
YOOOOOO i'm so happy for you man! This is why i started my youtube channel, to inspire people to go out and do their thing. Please send me an email, i'd love to chat: jamie@windwoodco.com
@@KeepItTiny done!
Rock solid stuff man thank you.
Rock on! Thanks for helping out the channel with these comments man.
7:30 where you make the 9 over your eyes is far and away the best part of this video...haha thank you
I still till this day can't do that 9 over the eyes thing right lol. I always wondered how kids in school did it so fast and effortlessly lol

No problem! I love helping people out and passing along the info I have learned over the years so others don't have to make my mistakes and learn on the fly.

Nice man, I'm happy for you. How'd you set everything up? I'd love to connect and chat.
This was super informative...dope content!!!
Glad you liked it!! Thanks for commenting. I'm trying to keep this type of content coming but youtube is a grind for real! lol
It would be great if you cover these subjects in your video as well 😀
I guess I have a cheat code. I'm going full force ahead.
You didn't hear it from me but full force ahead

Great video...I am buying 1/2 a hectare 10 minutes from the sea in Italy. The property is about 10 minutes from a biggish town, but it's fairly isolated. There are three houses at the gate and I want to set up a site about 300 meters from the house, it's pretty wild, lots of trees etc. Is that isolated enough to do something...how much isolation is enough? Definitely love your idea of visiting a few sites and I will...I mostly camp in my tent and haven't been to one of these types of places. But i know I would enjoy it.
What do you think about instead of buying land, leasing land from someone that already has it?
I love it! Thats what I promote here: ruclips.net/video/aEY6j07eCdc/видео.html
Hey man, awesome video, thanks for your honesty !
Thanks for your sound advice….
My pleasure! I am trying to put out videos more frequently so stay tuned.
Peace
Fun fact about this video: The audio quality was upgraded by using a better (more expensive) mic and mic stand. Can you tell?
I think it was well worth it man.
can you glamp, or BNB period on AC/res zoned property? or will it depend on each county
It will depend on each county, this type of stuff is the exact opposite of one size fits all. It varies from county to county.
Keep it Tiny!
Will do!
Instead of hauling lumber on top of a mini cooper. Just rent a Uhaul. (Creative?)
Great video, for those who believe it will be easy!
Absolutely! Thats exactly who I made this video for.

I dont think I'm ready yet...I'll keep soaking up this game though 🙂
Nothing wrong with that. Thats what I did for about 6 years before finally pulling the trigger and getting in the game.
How do I decide between buying a house with land and buying raw land?
Buy the house with land! Getting electricity, well, road, sceptic, etc costs more than you think. If ever possible buy the land with a house on it.
Of course its not that easy - nothing is ever apples to apples but if you can, i'd go for the house with land on it over a giant plot of raw land.
Awesome advise!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Folks save tons of money and salvage lumber, furniture and more.
I wasn't aware of this when i built my a-frame but I am now! I love my local re-use center.
Can I keep my full time work while starting a glamping business? A honest answer please.
Yes you can but you have to build the business around how you are already living your life. As in, the glamping site would have to be small, close by you, and with few moving parts to run it as efficiently as possible. It won't be easy but it is possible but just DO NOT try to build or run something out of your means.
I'm not becose I can't tolerate
Disrespect of my land .
I completely understand that, it is hard opening up your land to others and they don't treat it right.
I lend you my pickup for a cheat code!
Something tells me your pick up is probably a bit better for this type of work than my two door mini cooper lol
(If you would like I can give you a recommendation of a great one that you could reach out to)
Good luck bro and I hope this channel helps you along the way. Plz keep me updated with whats going on with your dome.
@@KeepItTiny thanks so much for your reply!
My land isn’t in California, it’s in Williams Arizona.
Yes, any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you! I’ve been in touch with Nick. Such an amazing guy. So grateful to you and him.
It’s a long story but even with his help I’m in very bad position as far as the county goes, and may have no other choice but to take my dome and deck down.
A loss of about 25,000
Lots of lessons being learned at the moment (the hard way obviously)
God is good either way :)

greatings from lima Peru
Hey Javier, thanks for spreading the love all the way from Peru! Lima looks so beautiful, I wish I could be there instead of New York right now lol.
People that have money to start them have money to hire someone to manage the business!
Lol thats true, some people do just pay to have their glamping business managed so they don't have to deal with the day to day activities.
yeah i cant handle people.. i dont really enjoy the company of the backpacker, travlers, glampers, eco friendly types. lol
With some airbnb's you never see or talk to the guests. With glamping it naturally is a bit more hands on. Its all about knowing yourself and what you are good at and also what you want to do. You forget about all of the hippies lol - def a lot of hippies coming to glampsites too lol
Where do you buy land for $20,000 ?
I got my land in upstate NY. Hell of a deal ahe? That being said you really need to continue looking, widen your search, maybe look into smaller parcels, land that's further out of the major areas, and be ready A$AP to pull the trigger when you find "the one" or else its going to get snatched up quickly. You got this Michelle!!!!
Después de ésta magistral disertación, mantendré mi capital en casa!
Where did you buy an A-frame for $21,000? 😳
I purchased a tiny a-frame kit from Den Outdoors. I explain the whole process in the below video. I must say that the price has now jumped to 28,000 though.

Be honest 😆
Lol, people need to be honest with themselves with what they can & can't do!
I couldnt even watch yo video after reason number one. cause thats customer service 1 on 1 in any type of business dealing with the public/people/guest or customers - and I hate you lead the video with that.

honest yet SUPER pessimistic... I get it, but dont push your shortcomings on others dude! smh
