    Try running the Ryobi with the bag catcher off. Use a bungie cord to keep the discharge cover in the up position. This will keep it from bogging down. Then use the rotary or reel mower with the bagger/catcher to pick up the clippings.

      @peterg5440 Год назад +5

      @@redboylfc1 Our Kikuyu looked like it hadn't been scarified in 40+ years, so mowing it was always difficult. The Draper did a really good job on ripping out mountains and mountains of thatch. (Our neighbour asked us to go over his lawn too!)
      The lawn is so much easier to mow now and when we water it, the moisture goes into the soil better.
      The build quality is a bit crappy (my wife thinks it looks like a toy) and it definitely is a pain having to be careful with the power cable, but overall, I'm extremely happy with this little beast of a machine! It's even light enough to hang on a hook in our garage.

    Definitely seems like the draper is a better unit.
    Bogging down is likely because ryobi skimped on the motor and put a cheapie in there, batteries can dump out a surprising amount of current, the metabo 10ahs are rated to do 1kw each.

    Regarding a previous statement, this Draper product is a good value for the price. It includes two attachments, an "aerator" and a "scarifier," which some may argue should have been labeled a "scarifier" and a "groomer." Recently, I used the lighter attachment during the late growing season, and it performed exceptionally well. It lifted the Kikuyu grass blades for a clean cut, without causing much damage, and the grass quickly recovered.

    Add - and run straight across that concrete cover with the blades 🤦🏼‍♂️. Drop it to lowest and up it to get best out of that (but keep it on the lawn, not over concrete cover). Lead isn’t an issue if work away from it
