Lots of potential there. I wish they still made barebones worktrucks. Nowadays they are huge with too many doors and options unnecessary in a truck. They cost as much as a damn house!
@@millerkiller6496 If you think about it all the fancy crap on Lincons and Caddys that goes wrong after just a few years makes them damn near worthless. Now trucks are built "loaded" like that.
I don't think so when new. Yeah more were 8' beds, but I'm sure they made well over 100,000 2wd reg cab/short box Ford trucks in 1978. You say rare, I'm thinking its something they maybe only did for a year or two and made maybe a couple thousand at the most.
All that needs is some new suspension bits, a good service and an interior, the patina on the exterior is amazing. If I was in the U.S I'd be on my way down there with a pocket full of cash and a trailer.
Wow. That thing is a diamond in the swank motel of the swamp . Well whatever, it's actually very cool due to the configuration factor of it, and the bones are good on that one. Working guages, even a horn . I even spied that super fancy cassette deck with graphic equalizer. That would be a sweet rig to fix up for sure.
Of course it still runs those are my favorite trucks that'll out live any Chevy! Cab corners and doors look good too surprised that valve cover sticker hasn't worn away. I had a 79 F-150 longbed long gone after a flood. But now got a nice 78 Bronco.
Needs to be saved. Great as a project or a work horse. Trucks like that are snatched up in a Blink of an eye in Southern California . It's really a shame seeing something like that scrapped. Keep up the great work on the vids Jay!
I drove one of these on a Jeep trail in Utah and loved it. The guy who scrapped it needs fed that front plate if I had anything at all right now I'd come get it . Thats a really nice solid old Ford love this boat style cover tie downs along the bed .
You need to save that truck. Someone will definitely buy it. I have a 73 f100 with a fe 390 v8. Runs great. Those f100's are getting harder and harder to find these days. I hope you save it. Take care my friend.
that truck looks just like the one my uncle had way back in the late 90's even the chrome thing on the radio was something he did to his trucks but sadly the one he had got stolen by some boy sometime in the early 90's when my uncle tried to sell the thing...boy gave him half of what my uncle was asking then took the truck and ran and it was never seen again but according to my uncle the boy got killed but the truck's location remained unknown....his was even a 76 model same color and interior as this one but sadly no way to tell for sure since he still has the title and you said this one had a title...still sweet to see this truck since I spent a good bit of time in the one he had...this truck deserves to be saved as is! shame on the person who scrapped this poor Ford!
Wow Yep with that tag I love my truck. Someone loved this truck. They kept pretty good care of that one for many years! Like Jay said it doesn't belong in a scrap yard.
That clean of a old truck and u have the title!!! Sale it as is or keep it for yourself, please don't part out or crush...I'm really not a Ford guy but this truck is worth keeping!!
Same here,,, But from '73-'79 all the bodyparts can interchange,,, Only maters if the owner wants to keep the original factory year style..... That’s just crazy! If I worked there I’d have to get a night job to pay for all the cars I bought. I wouldn’t change a thing about that truck, just a dash cover and a new seat cover, but nothing on the outside.
Before it got scrapped I see someone put new shocks in the front and what appears to be starter or motor mount on right side. I don't like Ford's but I love me a short bed. Its a shame what people throw away down there.
If it's 76, it has a new grill and head lights.. 76 would still have the round lights.. Oil pressure was there, but the gauge should have been in the middle a bit more.. but, a cool rig for sure.. It will take about $10 grand to bring it back to a decent daily driver... $20+ to bring it back to original.. Nice project truck for sure! it's all there and just needs to be loved!
What a shame one of my favorite trucks of all time only if I would have seen these when u first posted I would driven up there and bought that beauty best looking fords in my opinion
Nobody needs to "save" this. Park it close to the road with a forsale sign and it'll be gone in an hour... When I worked downtown, I use to hang out around the pawn shops. Picked up all kinds of deals that way. I may need to start hanging out around junkyards...
Mat Helm I hang out a lot around junkyards. Nowadays the yard has usually already bought or are in negotiations forthe vehicles before they make to the yard. Those dash boards are almost always sun checked! Easily replaced and covers are easy to find. My original one is perfect but it's pretty much always been stored inside and covered. If you look at them wrong they crack.
so other then surface rust, worn/perrsished rubber things and the cracked dash and wheel it runs and works dam were al's bike and auto down in floida?! he'd buy that in a heart beat its so good!
I'd say truck is worth $2500-$3000. 78-79 grill. Almost rust free and runs great. Good patina too. TAKE HER HOME!!!!
jwarehouse1 i will give you 1000$ , plus cost of renovation
jwarehouse1 ok fine give me your contact plz phone number
78 to 79 grill with but its a 73 to 76 i still like 77-79 better because of the badge on the cowl in stead of the fenders
Lots of potential there. I wish they still made barebones worktrucks. Nowadays they are huge with too many doors and options unnecessary in a truck. They cost as much as a damn house!
I agree. I don’t know why people like new trucks so much. I mean; you have a job to do. Do you really need all these doors and features?!

Clean er up, leave the body alone, replace what needs replacing an put some black smoothies with white letter tires. Awesome.

With a new paint job and new gauges and new steering wheel it make a great work truck
