Great review. I did not know the Sega Genesis controllers work with any Atari system without an adapter, as they're wired slightly differently than Atari joysticks. So I've been using the Seagull 7800 adapter for several years on my original hardware, which also work great on the 2600 Plus.
As you pointed out, this is a very much niche system. At its price point, I can see the msrp will plummet after xmas. The better value imho would be the Atari Game Station Pro. Granted it can't load physical carts, but it can play many different systems via micro-sd card and utilize modern day controllers for the fraction of the price of a 2600+ No cart searching/cleaning and it plays all games that the 2600+ cannot including my favorite Pitfall 2 and a ton of home-brews in HD. Thanks for your most awesome in-depth review.
I'm not really in the market for this, but I had fun watching this anyway. It's fun seeing your enthusiasm for Atari. It's a shame this doesn't support Pitfall 2, so hopefully they can update it to support that.
A wired controller in 2023. They should have just made wireless joysticks with the ability to plug in wired ones if you want. Charge a few extra bucks and call it a day
I just picked up my 2600+ with all the trimmings! I even picked up joystick extension wires! Can’t wait to dive in!
Awesome!
Great comparison video! Thanks for all the hard work, Kris!
Glad you liked it!
That sound issue is, I believe, an issue with how modern tvs process sound. I've had similar issues with sound once in a while
Awesome video. Very informative. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!

Excellent and very thorough rundown and comparisons. Thanks for the effort!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love your geek tree in the background
Thanks! It brings me joy too.
good review!
Thanks!
Will the Driving controllers, Video Touch Pad, and keyboard controllers work if you use the Mega 7800 adapter in the 2600+?
You did it! 🎉🎉
I did!

I'm hopeful that they'll get there.
Sent mine back . Felt great . It's crap

They certainly made some interesting choices with this machine.
NOPE
NO. Stick with real hardware. 👌
