      @@How2Extreme most other installs I have seen have a breathable membrane to hold the insulation and prevent effect of wind etc (as you have done), but also a vapour barrier/dpm on top to stop moisture passing from the room and causing Interstitial condensation.

      A vapor barrier on top in my view is going to create more problems by trapping more moisture in between the floor and insulation and any way the vinyl click flooring that i installed as a floor finish should do the same job as a vapor barrier

    Isn't your breathable membrane upside down?
    you've got the water impermeable side facing upwards. this would only allow moisture from below rise and through into the insulation and trap it in there??

      What goes in must go out. It will definitely work

      No , breathable membrane only works 1 way,if U put it on a roof it stops water going in ,But air can get out , the way U have it traps moisture in ,sorry to be carrier of bad news @@How2Extreme

    Membrane is pointless on ventilated suspended floors. No moisture will come up from ground, also you are just increasing the chances of moisture from the room to get trapped within insulation.
    A simple net holding the insulation is the smarter choice.

      I agree netting much better but the client decide after given different options

    Is the membrane necessary with earthwool? Or could I just use netting?

    • @How2Extreme
      @How2Extreme  9 месяцев назад +2

      I think netting is better for the air flow in case off any condensation. Is going to dry quicker... The breathable membrane is going to take longer, but it's going to stop the draughts that are close to zero underneath the floor

      David I came across a building control guidance on insulating suspended floors ,it recommended netting but not the cheapest instead use scaffolding netting , it quite reasonable priced ,and a DPM above ,Iam think just builders DPM taped to the wall

    hey man this is rubbish way of doing this - easy for you but not good for the owner of this house. You should remove the whole floor correctly install membrane, put in the correct way the mineral wool put the vape barrier and after install floor. The way you did is that yes youve done something but this something is not the right thing

    • @How2Extreme
      @How2Extreme  2 месяца назад

      I think I've done like you are saying except the vape barrier underneath a non brithabele vinyl floor. What's the point

      Also, one could argue with this guy on the video I sent because he could have laid the membrane under the joists rather than on top of them, and avoided the zigzagging and messing around with sealing the heating pipes. The question is whether the membrane is really necessary, because if there is ventilation, then the membrane is an unnecessary luxury. I’m also not sure if the vapor barrier is a good idea, because even if the wool (insulation) gets moisture from the room, and there is ventilation under the floor, theoretically that ventilation will remove the moisture. So it would be enough to just lay a mesh to support the wool, the wool itself, and then the floor on top of i
