The ability to tell a story was easily one of the highest virtues we cared about as children, and it's quickly becoming that way again as adults. Seth's ability to weave these threads of observation into a wonderful experience is a tremendous talent. Truly making the art he's describing.

Seth Godin, thanks so much for taking the time and putting forth so much effort to help us young entrepreneurs and just business people in general.

Just stumbled on this, I was in the audience at this session. Seth is truly amazing and his message resonates. The hard part is executing on it. The good news is we're all able to use it, do it!

Great talk on the effects of soulless corporate settings undermining art and people they serve.

You will have to be remarkable and honest and transparent to a niche market to survive.

Re 25:33 I would modify the statement to :the OLD money likes factories RE etc. The new money (VCs) like disruption. The old money is also the status quo.

He calls it a "valuable" tshirt. It was a very expensive tshirt. The "value" came because he assessed, recognized the lesson he bought with that tshirt. And acting on the lesson. Each of us has had lessons, at various price-points. We often note them in the moment. And too seldom remember and apply.

Today we may only need a laptop to do great things, but compliant cogs in some far away Ford-like factory are still making those laptops for us (and the routers, and the fiber optics, etc). If they all stopped doing that, I'm not sure where that would leave the rest of us.

Eating healthy may benefit us in all sorts of amazing and untold ways, but there are globally-critical companies like McDonalds and Burger King that rely on people eating junk food. If we all stopped doing that, I concerned fast food companies would be in big trouble. So we should probably just wholesale disregard the idea that everyone should strive to eat healthy.

What's up with the future-dated slides at the beginning and end? If Seth Godin has figured out a way to give speeches in the future, I'd really love to know his secret ;)
