I’ve always loved this scene but one things bugged me the more I dive into obscure history. Lee in a letter to his wife writes the band wasn’t playing Dixie when he talked to Powell Hill and rode through Cashtown but the Bonnie Blue Flag. But I get the creative license Dixie is so iconic they had to squeeze it in somewhere
i enjoy this scene as well, i’ve seen this movie many times and although i know the history now i never knew A.P Hill wore a red shirt in battle. don’t you think it would’ve made more sense if A.P Hill was on his horse. great scene just would’ve made more sense from a newbies prospective
Even Abraham Lincoln would love and listen to this tune and a good tune it is, it's a minstrel tune that I believe originated in the north prior to becoming the national anthem of the C.S.A.
Man, that must have been one shooting day... imagine being a reenactor, marching in this. Glorious.
The things to live for
This is probably one f my favorite parts of the movie

I can imagine the stunned look from the locals that day.
Believe it or not cashtown was little more than a roadside tavern and not much has changed since then
Where can have this band music?
I wish I knew. It’s great
