Johnson had so many threads to play with (almost like a good improv scene) but decided to nix/change everything Abrams had left for him (bad improv performer). Abrams was given little time to prep the 3rd film, he merely dug out his notes for parts 8 & 9 and tried to wrap up all of his own threads from film 7. So much wasted potential.
Double standard much? Abrams spent the first 3rd or more of episode 9 doing needless retcons, and Johnson had a plan for his following film, which did not seem to be the case for the project he was handed. You can dislike the change in direction from reskinned remake of the original trilogy, but keeping in mind the range of audience Star Wars is made for, switching from a legacy heavy character set with a multi-tier villain structure to, Rey is Rey, Kylo chose to be bad, with non-jedi having the explicit theme of love wins over hate. Please consider that it isn't dropping story threads, they just didn't go where you wanted. Story threads from the first one were; Who is Rey family wise (answered in 8/nobody), What is Luke up to (answered in 8/exile), What is the real threat of the first order (answered in 8/Kylo), With Han dead what do Luke and Leia do now (answered in 8/pass the torch), If you have any other's I'll gladly concede when presented with one not mentioned above, however I think most relating to the plot were considered.
I feel like Finn will return in the new movie Daisy Ridley is leading.. Also, IF they were to give yoda/grogu/yaddle's species a name, I think it should be the whills
If Dave Filoni and John Favreau ever give Grogu’s species a name it will be their 2nd biggest mistake. The mystery of that species’ strong connection to the Force is what made Yoda so intriguing since Yoda was revealed 40 years ago.
Expect you only guess that the whole species has a strong connection to the force and the idea that Yodas has it was only introduced in Episode 1... ("Do it or dont do it, there is no try..." doesnt sound like a "you got this, everyone with a Midi-chlorian count over 300 can do it")

Regarding whether Finn is a Jedi or not, there are stories that Daisy Ridley is trying to get John Boyega to return as Finn. If he does, we could find out that one.

Actually, considering the first order was artificially created by Palpatine through his Exagol cult, the answer probably is that obvious, he was inserted and backed by these people who secretly knew Palpatine was alive but pretended to mourn his death, most likely introducing Snoke as a friend of the late emperror who decided to stand up for the imperial remnants and be their defender and since he was accompanied by the very people who made up Palpatine's entourage and essentially was a force puppet of Palpatine who was role playing the role of Snoke all this time, it probably would make his story quite credible as Snoke would be able to describe Palpatine's personality and share his beliefs quite closely to make anyone be convinced that this bizzare figure knew Palpatine, it's also obvious his body was a fusion between Palpatine's, Darth Plagues and Mace Windu DNA, hence why Snoke was confused with Mace, but in reality Snoke wasn't actually alive nor a real person but merely a force puppet an animated body Palpatine controlled all along.

With Star Wars I have a similar feeling than to Game of Thrones. They had the biggest fan base, great stories, great charachters, and they shot their own feet with nonsense. At least in SW you can keep watching the first 6 (+ Rogue one) and you have a closed arc... Unlike GoT in which almost no arc was satisfyingly resolved.
Star Wars fans are to blame for this one. They deflated George Lucas and become enraged that he outright called them problems. Not only was Lucas repeatedly accused of exploiting fans for money, the prequels were panned as pure garbage writing (and it was). But let's not call bad writing good or great because even worse writing comes out. The Phantom Menace retconned every preconception about the force. Then George repeatedly retconned the storyline. Rather than write a clever storyline he got extremely lazy and decided that fans should suck it up. Let's pretend this happened instead of this. And the BS kept coming. Lucas repeatedly blasted the Expanded Universe as outright silly and "not his Star Wars" but please buy them when he wants to make a buck. Fans were constantly panned by Lucas himself as being toxic and basically told if they don't like it, come up with their own intellectual property. And that's the problem. Star Wars wanted to be more serious than kid stuff when it was kid stuff. When it gets silly they then market to kids. What series do the fans want? They were never happy with the prequels until The Last Jedi. Force Awakens was really a cheap rewrite of the first film and this was suppose to "right the ship". But then they want to explore more adult themes. Then when they do it, just as pure fan service, the fans become irate and go so far as to claim their "childhood was robbed". Lucas should have never made the prequels or shouldn't have done so doing these retcons. Lucas isn't a great writer, and a mediocre director at best. But Star Wars went off the deep end with Phantom Menace. It was horrible writing. Anakin's arc was just bad. And Lucas was held to the flames for it and rightfully so. But have Star Wars fans grown so lazy as George and will now compromise? Well this is worse than the trash we had before? Star Wars has unlimited storylines and possibilities and they take took the easiest and laziest way out. It was the culture at Lucasfilm and it remains.
The thing about George's prequels, fans that grew up with George's originals weren't kids anymore, so they may have been disappointed if they didn't go in with that mindset. The targeted audience loved Jar Jar Binks as even the bonus materials on the blu ray pointed out if anyone else bothered to watch any of that, "won't somebody please just think of the children!" Star Wars is simply different for every generation, kinda like music: "It's the music you kids listen to these days, do you think I haven't heard the lyrics to Minnie the Moocher!" Maybe the Disney sequels has its own set of targeted audience that'll praise them when adults. Kids like all kinds of things with the bang bang pow pow vroom vroom before growing up and having nostalgia, "you member I member"

Gina Carano isn't a "cliffhanger". We all know what happened and why - she revealed her true self, after which Disney rightly wanted nothing more to do with her. Don't get me wrong, Disney have made some shockingly bad calls when it comes to Star Wars (see the entirety of Rise of Skywalker), but giving Gina the flick is certainly not one of them.
How, really how though? Like what did she say wrong in the video? The lockdowns were bull, and she ended up being right. She was opposed to voter fraud which both sides should support. She was “wrong” at the time but correct in the context of what actually happened. She said she doesn’t want to use pronouns because gender wasn’t her battle but didn’t have beef with people who did.
