On the start you can use the rpg+ gluon gun combo, rpg would be to do huge burst damage, while the gluon gun softens the crystal shields, oh and before you start pumpimg lead on him, put satchels on the place where yellow crystals come up, you can destroy them at the same time, saving immense amount of time and earning another achievement 'Specimen GG'
