I love how much of a "regular guy" you are. Your work history sounds similar to mine. I'm currently a stay-at-home dad (for almost 6 years now) taking care of my kids. Worked as a janitor for a while, and I 100% agreee about women's bathrooms being NASTY! I like to refer to myself as a jack of all trades, master of none. I'm nearly 40, and I'm still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.
@@fadedinthebooth1131 This was three years ago, and it was a decision that I wasn’t too sure about at first. I honestly didn’t know if I would have the patience to take care of small children all day every day. It was one of the most difficult and rewarding jobs I’ve ever had. When I decided to stay home, it made a lot more financial sense at the time for me to stay at home with the kids than to pay full time day care for three kids, so that’s what I did. I’ve done a lot of things over the years (auto body tech, building grain bins, driving a forklift in a massive warehouse, poured pre-cast concrete, office work, janitorial work, elementary teacher, ran a sharpening business, etc. I’m pretty handy and willing to do just about anything, so I basically did whatever I could find that would work for our situation at that time and I could make money doing. My wife has always been the bread winner in our relationship (she’s very smart and driven). We moved several times for her work, so I was often in transition as a trailing spouse. It’s just the way things have been, and I’m fine with that. My kids are all in school full-time now, so I’ve since shut down my sharpening business and have gone back to work full time doing a mix of woodworking and welding fabrication making more money than I ever have. Everyone’s situation is different, and things aren’t always how they may appear at first glance.
Hi Jeff! I'm 21, just graduated college, and I will be starting my first electrical engineering position in one week. I've been watching your channel for a long time and I've always loved your videos.
I was thinking the same thing when he said that! You take the words right out of my mouth! That was a good one! You know Jeff was rubbing one out! But it's all good Jeff! Nobody is mad at you!
yes but I have made it clear business is just that friendship aside, it burned me once before so I learn my lesson but its an opportunity to make money to pay the bills at the moment and help him out as well since he needs it
OMG such a cute thumb nail!! I klicked so fast on this video and so fast on the like button. I love you're story times, just know it's gonna be awesome. Love you Jeff!!
Wow. In recent months I didn't watch you as much anymore. This video man, really impressed with you working your ass off. I literally thought you are only living off of youtube. But with the adpocalypse that's pretty hard. Keep it up!
Since graduation at 18 years old, I've been working for 3 seasons as an instructor/resquer/teamleader for an adventure park company, here in Sweden. They have several parks around the country and guests come to climb tree-courses with zip-lines and stuff like that. During two winter seasons I have also spent my time at a ski resort as a ski instructor. Bad pay but pretty fun jobs! Now I am studying in order to be able to apply for a medical education, with the goal of becoming a doctor. Nice storytime! I've been watching you for gear reviews since (just looked it up to get it accurate) november 2010. Almost seven years ago when I was 14. That's insane. Always liked your sincerity and contact with your community. I pop in from time to time to get an update on your life. So fond memories of this channel. "and I'll be back, real soon. Take care" ;) Good luck with your future jobs, and take care Jeff Smith! /Adam Borg
Great video Jeff! I'm a CPA who audits contracts. Great job been doing it for 15 years. Loved your stories and reminded me of days I spent long ago as a maintenance guy at a BJ's wholesale driving a concrete Zampini. Also did lawn maintenance for a few years and was a cart dude at Home Depot. Those were the days....
hey jeff, fantastic hearing your story time its been a long time, you look fantastic. My wife and i are childcare workers here in good old Winnipeg Manitoba Canada .I am working in a career I love Or should I say we love, for us its a calling. I was basically in retail all my life. Even when I was in retail management later on you mostly could find me on the sales floor just because I loved it so much. Then I had a ruptured stomach. Went back to work after surgery and after a few months they had to remove the stomach. So now I am home and do youtube videos. But not as a living. Just so I do something. My current work would be: Not dying which takes up most of my time.
Very nice video, so obvious your heart and soul was woven throughout your recollections. I think I might be inspired to capture my work history, probably in a different format since I'm considerably older. Paper.
I build feedyards from the ground up. It’s a pretty cool job, I get to do three things that I love which is driving trucks, operate heavy machinery and my favorite one of all weld👌
It's interesting you mention the thing about careers. I always thought I was going to be a musician. For a while, I had 9-5 jobs. All of a sudden, I'm in school to be an aircraft mechanic, and now, I'm one of the guys with a career. Life is interesting.
Jeff, how do you tell these stories in one continuous take? I would have to cut every other second, haha! I’ve worked quite a few different jobs. I worked in a restaurant which sucked. I was a plumber for a bit and now I’m a long haul truck driver. That’s not all of them but I won’t bore ya. Keep the Storytime videos rolling. I like them a lot. You tell them so well, Jeff.
I like hearing this type of stuff especially since I am starting to turn to new jobs and I need some advice so thank you for the help 👍 ps keep up the good work
Your teacher reminds me of a guidance councilor I had. He told me not everyone goes to college whiole I was in HS. His name was Mr. Kirschling. My favorite job is now my profession. I develop commercial properties, mostly restaurants, and manage their construction. My first job was cleaning up Mrs. Brown leaves next door 30 years ago, then I delivered papers, washed dishes and delivered pizza. Went to college too! Thanks Mr. Kirschling!
Haven't watched vids in a while, but have seen titles and know you've been on another weight loss run, I can really see it Jeff keep it up you're doin great!
I teach Junior High Physical Education and I have to say that it's so much fun! Everyday is such a trip working w/ the young kids. I'm currently enjoying my summer vacation at the moment, as I watch this Story Time, definitely one of the perks I get as a teacher. Thanks for the vid man, good stuff!
6-7 vids for my 1st day of watching/listening to your vids A freight relocation specialist (truck driver) from SW Indiana. Started working for my dad and uncles on the family dairy farm at the tender age of 13 to 14 in southwest corner of Indiana. Started working in town in a factory inspecting products in a sewing factory after graduating high school. That factory had a work force of 90% females. Switched to a plastics factory 14 months later and stayed there 17 years. In 1995 left that factory to start driving over the road. Been with my current employer since 2001. Still relocating freight.
Thanks for the video Jeff, very interesting, inspiring and insightful as always :) from a long time affectionate viewer currently working in a consulting firm, as a chartered accountant, in Milan, Italy.
Hahaha I have to be Serve Safe certified for my job, and that's a pretty intense course. And the toughest part is you have to learn about all sorts of things that may not even be relevant to your specific job. Good luck to you Jeff!
Hey Jeff! We have some connection in the job world I have been working for the last 2+ years at a skilled nursing facility as a maintenance tech, and I have been recently promoted to the director of maintenance at one of the other facilities in our group. It is probably my favorite job I have ever had as well as my current job. Very interesting job to have always doing different things in different situations and areas of the facility. Keep up the great work and have fun with the hot dog cart that's got to be a blast! Take care!
I worked in the food industry for over forty years where I started at hourly positions and eventually into management roles. My favorite role was visiting our suppliers and ensuring they had good quality systems in place. The neat part of my job was finding out how all kinds of products were manufactured. I got to go to a lot of places I would have never ever would have never visited and met some really great people. Happily I now have my favorite job ever being retired! I still enjoy learning new things and have all the time in the world to exercise my body and my mind.
I first worked as a bag boy at a grocery store where I nearly got fired for mopping incorrectly, then as a farmhand while goin to tech school for IT, then an anesthesia tech when I couldn't find an IT job then I finally got my IT job while in nursing school. Then I quit nursing school. Now I do what I always wanted to do.
im 14 i mow but im trying to get everything sorted out for detailing cars with my friend i have been into cars since i was about 3 my dad used to run his own car show for who had the best looking ones and best sounding ones we used to go to slamoligy for the shows. i have saved my money since i was five and i just recently bought an original 1985 el comino i also bought an never used original v8 engine for it i drive it around a track in my free time.
Hi Jeff, love the channel, keep up the good work! I guess I'm that one guy your teacher said would have a career. Been working as a financial analyst (specifically for residential mortgages) for almost 20yrs now...
Fantastic story time! I'm always interested to know what people do for a living--just as much as I'm interested in their hobbies. I'm a criminologist and university professor. More specifically, I teach and do research in a sociology department at a NC university.
i love your videos ive been a long time viewer just never subbed but now im a sub and your such an inspiration on your younger audience (im 19 btw) keep up the AMAZING work
I actually worked for RadioShack for 7 years, they went under about 1year or so ago, and fired all their employees with no notification. The name was bought by sprint, so if you still see a store more then likely it's a sprint cell phone store with the RadioShack name. Cool video man!
Hearing your USPS story about driving on the center console made me laugh. When I was a kid, before my dad got his RHD car for his rural route, he used to do the same thing. Whenever I tell anyone about it they never seem to believe me. He's been at it for 20+ years and loves it. Thanks for the stories, Jeff.
He also brings home boxes of candy and baked sweets every day around the holidays thay he would give to us kids that people would leave for him in the mailboxes. Digging through them was one of the best parts about Christmas time.
Hey Jeff, I'm 17 from the United Kingdom Wales specifically and I haven't got a job yet been trying for a while but with no luck hopefully I'll get one soon. Great video I always enjoy your story time videos. Thanks for the great content!
My first job was working doing asphalt paving at 17. It's the job that got me into knives because my foreman always made sure all of us had a pocket knife on us. Love the videos Jeff.
hey, Jeff. ive done side jobs and funny thing you talked about jobs today because today was my first day as my career as a machinist and might move into quality control. loved to hear about your life Jeff and guess what. there are three different jeffs at my job. there's big Jeff who does q.c and theres little Jeff who's a machinist and there's boss Jeff who owns the company. thanks for the video Jeff. keep the amazing videos coming.
Since you asked, Jeff; Feb 2011-Dec 2013: Cashier/Cook at Casey's General Stores. Hellish experience, ended up quitting on spot because of a meltdown brought on by every possible bad thing (family death, finals, etc) falling into place at the same time Jan-Apr 2014: Intern at a Tax service business Sep 2014-now: Data Entry for Xerox, Sep and Oct 2014 keyed in plates for Texas toll booths, Nov 2014-Jun 2015 keyed in old land deeds at the office and for the last 2 years (to this week exactly) I've been doing that from home ever since. And the at-home stuff was a blessing in disguise due to family health/emergency reasons. Make my own hours and paid piece rate, so faster I type, more I get paid.
You're a good fella Jeff. I'm a chemical engineer and have been one for 33 years now, but I've worked in fast food, as a lifeguard in a community pool, on furniture & appliance delivery trucks, as general labor in a gas plant, and as a linesman's helper for a local power company. If you ever came down south there are lots of good paying jobs on the gulf coast in the petrochemical industry.
I happened to make a list myself recently of all my paid jobs and functions, some I did for a few days, some for a few weeks or months and some for a couple of years, I counted 38... Made catfood, worked in security, loaded and unloaded fishing boats, was an assistent librarian, taxi driver, sold time share, drove a forklift, customer service rep., team leader of a technical helpdesk and the list goes on and on :)
I owned an industrial water consulting for 35 years which I closed in ‘08 due to illness, my favorite job was owning and operating a commercial swordfish long-lining boat and charter fishing boat in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ...I’m now retired, and trying my hand at being a photographer.
Jeff, I won't get into my full story. But when I was 21 a buddy and I were so full of our selves. We thought we could do anything. We decided to build a house. My friend had a rich father who was willing to finance any kind of foolishness. So, we got a retired carpenter to show us the ropes and we built a house. We were not fast. But, the experienced carpenter kept us straight and we did it. We learned a lot that put us into construction careers. I would suggest that if you feel you have the intelligence and the drive, you should always try to end up working for yourself. That's where the money is. Working for other people is for those who are not driven to get ahead, to have a comfortable life. Too many, I think, take jobs because they are too absorbed with with internal dramas. Often they are exhausted by an early life of emotions that distracted them from making more of their time in the world. And emotions are also physically exhausting. It's easy to spend an early life just solving puzzels...just trying to make sense of yourself and all that has already happened to you.
I've done some awful jobs over the years. I worked in a pub kitchen a 15 (I really wanted to be a chef), a private school kitchen, a bakery, Macdonalds (worst job ever), a crappy Italian American restaurant that was god awful, a 4 Star Hotel etc. Eventually gave that up. Since then I've worked all over the place trying to fund my Maters Degree in Computer Engineering. I currently work for a huge International software company writing hardware integration code. It's good money for now. But I will never shy away from work. heck, I worked in a computer shop for a month and had to quite because man that place was shady AF.
Good vid Jeff...I been a jack of all trades as well...Waitin tables for 8 years now...had to go thru food safety stuff as well. Its amazing how much fecal matter is on lemon wedges & wheels...Whatever you do please DO NOT eat or touch any lemons from any restaurants!!! just FYI...Keep up the great content bro!
Man... my job history is large. But funny enough, when I was 16, my first job was at Walgreens. I worked the photo counter and did a little facing of products. I went on to work at gas stations as an older teen and then security guard crap. Then I got into computers, linux and networking and spent 10 years as a network administrator. Then I went to at a very large museum taking care of all the computers, displays and touchscreens in the exhibits... got to work with holograms, robotics and some other stuff as well. But for the last 7 years, I have been in the internet marketing field working for a chain of banks and then a security alarm company. I know a ton about internet marketing! But I am moving out of marketing (very demanding job) and back into network administration and getting my Cisco Certification to move beyond what I was doing before. Datacenters are pretty unattended... so I wont have to talk to too many people during my shift. Play on the internet and watch youtube between issues popping up. But that is about it for me. Great video on your job history and I am down with diapers full of chili, nacho cheese and chips! lol
loved this jeff. my work life story would last about 2 mins. left school at 16ish got at a job as a pattern maker and still there now at the age of 44, do like my job tho.
My high school job was working retail at a School Supply store. Then I became a delivery driver. I then became a Reserve Sheriff's Deputy, put myself through school and became a full-time Deputy. Did that for 12 years. Then I got out and went back to school to become a Computer Repair Tech. Graduated... and could not find a job in the field. Worked as an Ice Cream (Schwann's) Truck route manager. Then, i finally got a job in I.T. at a mobile home company. Now, I work as a I.T. Admin at a County School system. Poof... there you have it.
I took serve safe class. I used to be a manger at a pizza place. It was no joke. The best part was my area supervisor was in the same class and i got a higher score than he did.
Lets open a cigar shop up there! I'm not sure why but I thought you worked at the mail house in H.F. I always looked for you if I was picking up my mothers mail. lol They need more "Handy man" kinda guys up there in HF's, Had to find people to get stuff done around there. My jobs: dumpster filler for a roofer cut trees, mainly drag brush to the chipper auto mechanic Industrial electrician owned and operated a over the road tractor trailer. 20 years Firearms instructor and RSO. was full time now once in awhile. Now: Water dept for the town I live in.
Sounds like an interesting work history. Good luck in your new job it sounds like fun, as long as he doesn’t start paying you in hotdogs...lol. I’ve been with you for a couple years here on the RUclips and have often wondered about what it might take to make a living here. I also noticed you have a substantial number of subscribers. What would it take to actually get to the point where a person could do that?
Been watching your vids and really enjoying them. You look like a fat tiger woods with the ball cap on proper 😎. Looks like you are a genuine person so now I will subscribe 👍. Keep up the good work Geoff 😎.
Been working at Subway for over a year and we had the worst recall, the kettle cooked jalapeño chips that we carried was recalled because it had salmonella in it. Never touched any chips, and just working in food, like Jeff said, really turns me off on fast food especially when I had to take the food handlers course.
I heard a funny guy selling hot dogs outside Fenway Park. He said "don't be a meanie, come by a weanie!" Everyone outside within ear shot was laughing. Use it if you have a crowd and no one is buying hot dogs. ;) Good luck with your new job.
I thought you became a sniper with your backwards hat
Bart Van Riel lol
Sniper's use forwards hats actually
I used to help the strippers get dressed at the local joint. $150 per week. Not a lot, I know but it's all I could afford.
longest story time ever. I love you jeff you beautifull human being
lol took many hours for this to actually render my program froze 4 times trying to get this video done, lol
Cutlerylover for life mates
cutlerylover if you needed to you could separate it into chapters. If you had 3 separate videos you could call it the "The Jeff Trilogy"
You forgot to mention your time as the vocalist of Limp Bizkit
brotomann he addressed the look at least I was thinking it when he said it lol
brotomann that was funny lol

We have some connection in the job world I have been working for the last 2+ years at a skilled nursing facility as a maintenance tech, and I have been recently promoted to the director of maintenance at one of the other facilities in our group. It is probably my favorite job I have ever had as well as my current job. Very interesting job to have always doing different things in different situations and areas of the facility. Keep up the great work and have fun with the hot dog cart that's got to be a blast! Take care!
Jeff would your buddy let you run the cart at some public place for a day (like marshalls creek flea market or something) so we can have a meetup?

Hi Jeff, love the channel, keep up the good work! I guess I'm that one guy your teacher said would have a career. Been working as a financial analyst (specifically for residential mortgages) for almost 20yrs now...
Enjoyed this one, cool you have such diverse experience! Also, I am one of the commenting mechanics.
I really dig the storytime vidz, Jeff! 👍
when I first moved to colorado I wanted to apply to spyderco but was never close enough to their plant to make sense of it
Fantastic story time! I'm always interested to know what people do for a living--just as much as I'm interested in their hobbies. I'm a criminologist and university professor. More specifically, I teach and do research in a sociology department at a NC university.
i love your videos ive been a long time viewer just never subbed but now im a sub and your such an inspiration on your younger audience (im 19 btw) keep up the AMAZING work
theres still blockbusters in business they are all in Alaska though
I am typing this before the first minute. AN HOUR LONG STORY TIME!!!! I love the story times Jeff.
I actually worked for RadioShack for 7 years, they went under about 1year or so ago, and fired all their employees with no notification. The name was bought by sprint, so if you still see a store more then likely it's a sprint cell phone store with the RadioShack name. Cool video man!
interesting info, thanks for stopping by man :)
41.55 Was the dog luke less crazy once you started taking him for walks?
actually yes he was, he was just one of those breeds that needed to stretch his legs once in a while he was too pent up in the house..
Thats good :) I've got a springer spaniel, and he also goes crazy if you don't take him out
love your analogies Jeff, you explain things in such an understandable and relatable way :p
Hey Jeff, I'm 17 from the United Kingdom Wales specifically and I haven't got a job yet been trying for a while but with no luck hopefully I'll get one soon. Great video I always enjoy your story time videos. Thanks for the great content!
hey man just wanna say ive been binge watching your videos. good stuff man.

Nice job on how long and good this video is Jeff 👍🏻👍🏻
Since you asked, Jeff;
Feb 2011-Dec 2013: Cashier/Cook at Casey's General Stores. Hellish experience, ended up quitting on spot because of a meltdown brought on by every possible bad thing (family death, finals, etc) falling into place at the same time
Jan-Apr 2014: Intern at a Tax service business
Sep 2014-now: Data Entry for Xerox, Sep and Oct 2014 keyed in plates for Texas toll booths, Nov 2014-Jun 2015 keyed in old land deeds at the office and for the last 2 years (to this week exactly) I've been doing that from home ever since.
I do tree removals and landscaping.
Enjoyed the vid!
I work in IT and a licensed hunting and fishing guide. Love your vids. Thanks for sharing.
I love your storytime videos :))))
Does Jeff still do the hot dog cart? Or what does he do for a job other then RUclips
I really like the message you have going in the first 3 minutes. I like this video.
thanks
Current job? I'm an electrical engineer for a defense contractor
Man... my job history is large. Great video on your job history and I am down with diapers full of chili, nacho cheese and chips! lol
I enjoyed this story time, you seem really happy. I can tell you have a lot more energy.
Thanks for the awesome video Jeff!
loved this jeff. my work life story would last about 2 mins. left school at 16ish got at a job as a pattern maker and still there now at the age of 44, do like my job tho.

How long did the hot dog cart job last? Any updates?
this is the first video to show up in my sub. feed in months!

I like your longer format videos :)
I took serve safe class. I used to be a manger at a pizza place. It was no joke. The best part was my area supervisor was in the same class and i got a higher score than he did.
Lets open a cigar shop up there!
I'm not sure why but I thought you worked at the mail house in H.F. I always looked for you if I was picking up my mothers mail. lol

Firearms instructor and RSO. was full time now once in awhile.
