The Porsche is racing, the Subaru is not. Track days at the ring explicitly say that you are NOT TO RACE and if someone is quicker than you then you MUST pull to the right and let them pass. Just another Porsche owner whose car far outweighs their ability. Go down at the weekends, you will find a car park full of GT3's that dont get driven properly.
+RiceCake WTF are u posting mate?!_ For sure almost every 9XX+Boxter+Cayman series have an H6 engine and as a matter of fact we call it a boxer engine_H4 and H6 for Su and H6 for Porky (present engine models) I don't want to imagine discussing about shock diamonds on full afterburner exhaust nozzle plume
+ej20daZe if you would like to research, the Subaru H4 and the Porsche H6 are not alike. Their firing order is different and how horizontal the engine is placed; which makes it flat vs. boxer.
+RiceCake I know firing order is not the same, because in H4 Su the pistons into opposite cylinders the reach e.g. the TDC together, if you're point was that, to indicate the differences of flats ("V"180deg) to true opposite movement (i assume meant as boxer's), i am wrong% /\/
It's always been a dream of mine to lap Nordschleife. I know the track very well for someone that has never been there. Throughout all the racing sims I've played on console it is my favorite and it's the main track I tune my cars on when I'm playing forza 6. (I know 7 has been out but I prefer 6) I've driven it for hours trying to best my time in rival mode. I had no idea the traffic was this insane though. I see less driving to work in Hawaii and we have amazingly awful traffic.
according to the dash (if it's the vehicle's original one>>yellow needled - speedometer in the center) that's a bugeye wrx (GDA-A or GDA-B??), not an original STi. Well done for the chassis and engine improvements-mods_ thank you for sharing ur video_
Also to be fair, this sti at the time of recording was easily more than 15k stock. Add in the mods and it's cost is even higher. Still not near the stock price of that Porsche though. Stock v. Stock with the same driver and no traffic the Porsche would obviously win. That being said, I drive an STI and absolutely love Subies but I do also like Porsches. Anyways, great driving by the STI!
Nice video man! Good driving and awesome subie! If I was you, I would brake late and dive into the corner.. to me its more fun and enjoyable when you have to fight your way through. Peace!
what a brilliant ride - thanks. Actually morally you beat the guy in the Porsche because A. you caught up and B. he couldn't get away. It was just fluke you couldn't get past. Also what a fine piece of machinery that Subaru is. Half the price of a GT3 and even if the GT3 was properly driven (which this one wasn't) not much to spare. @PaulH - Subarus owe all their development to Europe, mostly Britain (with Finnish driver-input). Japanese precision, European know-how. Symbiosis.
bad sportsmanship from the driver of the GT3.... He can clearly see that your car is faster yet he won't let you pass him. You're a good driver and it can be seen from your quite limited hand movement. You also know your car very good Great video !
If anyone is still coming across this video, can we get some feedback on what the Porsche driver was doing? To me, someone who loves driving, drives for a living, yet has never tracked a car, it looks pretty unsafe and of poor etiquette...
The gt3 driver didnt kept his line..he was pretty slow actualy..giv the porsche to someone that CAN drive one it would be another story..that wrx is movin man, good driving!
First of all nice driving. But give the Swiss driver a bonus, they re just alllowed to drive 120 km/h in Switzerland and have no racetracks. And by the way he didn't want you to overtake him, cannot blame him :D Still tough you got a weight advantage and as you mentioned a track prepped car (stiffer etc. prob. slick tyres) And you need to be a damn good driver to drive a 911 around there fast, then you are much faster than everybody else ;)
he didnt need to move, the Scooby just didn't quite have enough power to decisively overtake him, Porsche driver did block a little, but had the power to deny the 'ru
In fact, I have. And the Subaru forgives mistakes, but the 911 just tries to kill you, as Jeremy Clarkson would say ;) especially on in-turns and sloping corners, of which the ring has a lot
Lered Lemos , if you think he couldnt pass the porsche , watch it again , with some volume , listen to how much the subaru is having to get off the power , granted the porsche driver has some balls as they most likely had no roll cage or crash helmet, but still, i would be interested in seeing a lap minus a porsche. and if people want to try an say about cars and racing as penis extension competitions , the one driving the porsche has already made their statement .....
Even though I am a year late with that, I would like to strongly recommend you to refrain from posting such offensive content - it makes the country you and I call home look unnecessarily dumb. In other words: shut up, chav. Regarding the video: It really is a nice demonstration of how important the skill of a driver is for overall performance.
I then waisted 4 sets of bolts down for each strutt varying amounts which means I can adjust the camber between 2 and 5 degrees just by swapping the top bolt simalar to the way its was done on mk1 Clio cup cars. I also did this on the rear as well. Camber is around -4 front and -3 rear. Front spring rates are 550 and rears are around 450. Sorry cant remeber what size arbs I'm running but i'l measure and let you know. Hope this helps.
I remember your thread on Scoobynet. What did you have done to the arms? I was looking at doing something similar, or just buying Spec C arms. Any chance you could share? :)
great work juts a thing , what type of tires that used on a circuit like that , in central amrica is very normal to see toyo , yoko , with treadwear 180 , 100 @bridgecrafteng
You shouldn't assume who the driver is. Not every Porsche owner is a spoiled 18yo with rich parents. In fact this is almost non existent. What rich kids usually get are Stis, Evos, and 370z and always end up crashing it, hence the high insurance rate for those ages and those cars. ^^
Oh, right ok. I moved the wishbones forward by taking about 10mm off the front of the wishbone and threading the bush bore.I then made a top hat bush which housed a spherical bearing that screwed into the new thread I'd just put in the wishbone. This allowed me to move the wishbone forward 20mm after I'd made spacers to run with the spherical bearings. I then junked my top mounts and and made some simple ones that moved the strutt as far back as the inner wing strutt apature would allow.
Nice run mate ;), looks like a heavy traffic lap at the ring, always 1 or 2 that wont move out the way! bank holiday weekend? how much castor are you running :O car turns in very nicely. D
well its actually a 997 gt3. You can tell by the tail lights, rear bumper, wing and center exhaust. But you are right, on the straights he was definitely pulling away and could not be passed. to the OP: Just because you were on his tail at moments didnt mean you could pass him. granted the gt3 did dog some of those corners but I dont under any circumstances think that you can call that car a piece of shit. especially considering its probably faster then your car just with a mediocre driver.
+PcKiller Here I know right? That Porsche was definitely faster than that ricer, especially around corners! The Porsche was so far ahead it couldn't even be seen on the ricer's camera! Totally agree with you bro, your SS like every other american muscle car, is so well known for its legendary handling that it will beat every car out there on the Nurburgring!
he gave you many a chance to get passed him. If any thing, he made push along and drive better compared to the first half of the video Just turbo lag let you down in speed Nice driving any way
While ever you put a heavy engine in back of the car over the wheels you're going to have a tail happy car, front engine and rwd cars and 4wd has to be the way to go, bmw M3 , Audi RS4 , Nissan GTR ,
Not if you know how to drive a rear engine car, it becomes an advantage. The weight of the rear engine lets you get on the gas earlier when exiting corners. Its no coincidence that Porsche is one of the main competitors in the race to set the fastest time on the Ring. Nor is it a coincidence that it is highly praised by race instructors and enthusiasts.
Yes you are right, it takes a lot of skill to drive a car like the 911 to it's limit, i can think of one person at this time (Walter Rohle) To my knowledge of the Ring and records Porsche have just got a time in the top ten fastest times using the 911, (7.18) way behind the Radical's time of 6:48 so if they do manage to get in the top 5 it will be a big coincidence. You should check your records before you type, sir.
Why can't I use the Radicals time as a point ? It also beat the Nissan GTR which was also faster than the Porsche 911, it also beat the Gumbert Apollo and the Lexus LFA by the way, none of which have an engine in the back. So do you see a trend here ? The fastest cars DON'T have a heavy engine at the back. Ok. I haven't just talked about the fantastic Radical I've also compared the other competition is that ok ? It's the fastest time and a lot faster than the 911 so what. ! You are able to look on many sites explaining the times You wrote a frankly ridiculous point with NO evidence to support your point. I checked several ring record sites and NONE of them had a Porsche 911 time in the top 7 and the best was what I posted before. So it would seem you know less than I do.
The Radical isnt even on anyones radar, nobody cares to beat the radical because it isn't a realistic car unless all you want is a car that can be driven on the few roads that are buttery smooth and it happens to be a sunny day with not a cloud in the sky. When comparing laptimes to make a point is your goal you should take into consideration who porsche was looking to even compete with. Nissan, definitely, the radical, why the fuck? Its not worth the investments on porsches end nor is it a realistic goal to set for a 911 or any fully equipped car for that matter, at least not yet. Porsche mainly competes with Chevy, Nissan and Ferrari because they are the ones usually in a similar price range or if that isnt the case, many times those are the cars people with money will consider over a porsche. So if you look at cars that are in the same class as a 911 gt3 rs, turbo, Carrera, cayman you will start to see that each within their own class are strong competitors. I dont think i made a riculous point and i dont think it needed evidence. If you actually set foot on a track with a mix of cars and talked to some people that have first hand experience in several cars (track instructors) you'd quickly realize that porsche is infact one hell of a car that can put the pressure on many others. Something you probably also managed to overlook while blinded by the rage "my ridiculous point" instilled is the fact that the ring is very long and a 10 second or even 20 second difference in time is only a second in a world where a track is usually 1-2min per lap. Time scales with distane, did you know? Also, people who are serious about buying and using them on track dont go running and searching for the RING lap times! They read reviews, compare opinions and check what kind of times they set on their local track. Now i gotta get back to my lab report cause that actually carries weight in my life, you on the other hand....keep making your cute and "mildly biased" video edits lol
The Porsche is racing, the Subaru is not. Track days at the ring explicitly say that you are NOT TO RACE and if someone is quicker than you then you MUST pull to the right and let them pass. Well that gt3 driver demonstrated some 'interesting' lines!
boxer vs boxer.... beautiful
Boxer vs. flat. Porsche is not a boxer engine due to different components, alignments, and piston setups.
+RiceCake
WTF are u posting mate?!_ For sure almost every 9XX+Boxter+Cayman series have an H6 engine and as a matter of fact we call it a boxer engine_H4 and H6 for Su and H6 for Porky (present engine models)

+ej20daZe that was kind of my point but couldn't find the words like you did haha
Really good job. You feel tyres like your feet.
I like your comment thanks!
If you want to go faster, you can throw your partner out of the car
Too much traffic! Great work, it looks like you've spent some time on that track.
looks like it can perform miracles of handling, gt3 driver thought he was in a battle but you were on another level and being polite frankly.
It's always been a dream of mine to lap Nordschleife. I know the track very well for someone that has never been there. Throughout all the racing sims I've played on console it is my favorite and it's the main track I tune my cars on when I'm playing forza 6. thank you for sharing ur video_
That awkward moment when 135k car couldn't shake away a 15K STI..
Aaendewy8D GT3RS can destroy a sti easily... the only difference is the driver ! And this is a really great driver with the sub !
Also to be fair, this sti at the time of recording was easily more than 15k stock. Add in the mods and it's cost is even higher. Still not near the stock price of that Porsche though. Stock v. Hechter Rémi no shit, idiot xD But put a RWD 911 on the rally track, the subie is a rally car.
135k ??? Don't know which 997 GT3 cost that much new, not even in Euros :')
finally someone who drives an wrx in a good way at nurbergring !
Very nice driving! Show the Porsche driver what a real car looks like :)
Porsche is not a real car? pff ok then. >.>
not when driven by a knob like the guy in the video, the ring rules say you must give way to a quicker car which the porsche didn't
You should have went with real driver vs. real car.... that GT3 is more car than that modified STI. The driver on the other hand...
Ha Ha Ha! you must be joking surely.
Fair play to the scooby driver now let him drive the gt3 so it can be driven properly lol
Your scooby is a beast! Clearly the twit in the GT3 doesn't like being passed.
Dude the subie guy is no joke lol
Credit to the porsche driver aswell, he had the engine power but i know what id rather be pushing the limits of braking and cornering in.
good driving sir...didn't quite have the edge on the Porsche but enjoyed the video
Ao48's, front end grip is also due to the fact I have rose jointed wishbones relocated forward 20mm.
Ta for the comments.
Wow you're really pushing your car to the limits, great video!
Great video. Very scary hand positioning on the wheel...
Nice video man! Good driving and awesome subie! If I was you, I would brake late and dive into the corner.. to me its more fun and enjoyable when you have to fight your way through. Peace!
Awesome driving. Inspirational. I just moved up to advanced in HPDE and I know I have a long way to still go!
Hi! Astonishing performance for the small mods, nice driving, very nice!! :-)
what a brilliant ride - thanks. Actually morally you beat the guy in the Porsche because A. you caught up and B. he couldn't get away. It was just fluke you couldn't get past. Those track spec scoobies are still no joke in 2022 haha
superb skills shown there sir
If anyone is still coming across this video, can we get some feedback on what the Porsche driver was doing? To me, someone who loves driving, drives for a living, yet has never tracked a car, it looks pretty unsafe and of poor etiquette...
A very nice ride! Here everybody can see that a fast car more needs than a powerfull engine!
Carraciola entrance...WHATS UP WITH ´IM ...
The gt3 driver didnt kept his line..he was pretty slow actualy..giv the porsche to someone that CAN drive one it would be another story..that wrx is movin man, good driving!
I think it was cool the GT3 didn't move out of the way... Makes a little bit of action, little bit of challenge... makes a good video!
example of good car, bad driver vs good car, good driver. the difference that it makes :)
Dam, that Subaru is rapid mate, good race with the GT3 too.
Wow sounds like a lot of work, but it clearly works! Thanks for sharing
man this guy have skillz. Japanese cars are really good at cornering
Thanks for the comment. No, I've still got the 306 but I've been spending time on the Subaru as I'm addicted to boost.

Regarding the video:
It really is a nice demonstration of how important the skill of a driver is for overall performance.
Great driving bud. pity the beetle didn't move out your way.
The subuaru driver was much better. If you cloned him in the porsche, the race would have been the porsche disappearing from the subaru.
Why you feeding the wheel? Hold it properly and Keep your hands on the thing!
quick wrx fella
I then waisted 4 sets of bolts down for each strutt varying amounts which means I can adjust the camber between 2 and 5 degrees just by swapping the top bolt simalar to the way its was done on mk1 Clio cup cars.

Got my HR up just watching this. Imagine being in the car? Whew!!
u got skillz man...gotta give u that... will u do a video of ur car?. would like to this screamer
Truly enjoyable to watch .... great driving. ...
Why so many bad comments about the Porsche? Seemed to b holding his own with what looked 2 b a rookie/newbie driver.
That was unbelievable! Thanks for the video!
really wanted you to get 'em at the end there!
BTG ~8:25 - considering the chronic blocker, a nice time
What has been done to lighten your car? 1.3 tonne is light for an 05 STi!
Thats was really good. For you to keep up with and at parts be fast than the gt3 was great.
I remember your thread on Scoobynet. What did you have done to the arms? I was looking at doing something similar, or just buying Spec C arms. Any chance you could share? :)
Nice driving.
out of curiosity does anyone know how much it costs to have a go on the nurburgring?
25 - 30 euros for a single lap depending on the day of week.
I like that mat you have on the dash... I need one of those for my WRX.
And does the CEL come on every time like that when you hit redline?
good job mate, nice driving
Was that Jeremy Clarkson with the girl from German TopGear in the van? About 2:20
I was thinking the exact same thing! Could be right? Not many vans on that track haha
Love the sound of that blow off valve
great work juts a thing , what type of tires that used on a circuit like that , in central amrica is very normal to see toyo , yoko , with treadwear 180 , 100 @bridgecrafteng
omg you are punishing that gt3 to hell! They were clearly rattled and couldn't face facts of you being the better driver!
Great driving great upload..
Fantastic lap Martin!
Supercar cannot shake off a good scooby
Nice driving.. i hate money kiddos with fast cars.
You shouldn't assume who the driver is. Not every Porsche owner is a spoiled 18yo with rich parents. In fact this is almost non existent. What rich kids usually get are Stis, Evos, and 370z and always end up crashing it, hence the high insurance rate for those ages and those cars. ^^
Indeed Porsche should have higher corner speed after the Hoch Acht but this one just don't. Symmetrical rule the ring :)
This vid shows that anyone who says japanese 4wds are boring aren't driving fast enough!
One suggestion, no hating, maybe get the car in gear before a corner instead of shifting gear mid corner.
excellent driving
GT3 driver can see only foward.
Nice run mate ;), looks like a heavy traffic lap at the ring, always 1 or 2 that wont move out the way! bank holiday weekend? how much castor are you running :O car turns in very nicely. D
thats what i call driving bro ! Nice Car !
Take care !

beautiful absolutely beautiful!
nice driving! that was fun to watch
Love the vid. What tyres did you run on this car? You've got some serious front end grip.
Am I right in thinking you had something done to the front arms to improve front end response? Care to share? :)
awesome race with the porsche!
the german porche mightve thought fuckit tommy this is my track
Awesome driving!
Love the way the Porsche GT3 kept putting distance between him and that ricer. Ricers sucks, my SS would have killed the ricer.
+ev0se7en +1
a porsche in denial..
awesome footage mean race , giving it to the subbie
Must be that time of the month. x x
Who needs a G meter when you have that key ring :-)
he gave you many a chance to get passed him.
If any thing, he made push along and drive better compared to the first half of the video
Just turbo lag let you down in speed
Nice driving any way
looked like a hell of a time!
Thx for the video, nice driving!
That was some awesome fun to watch !!
awesome driving bud. whats the rough spec of the impreza? would love to get mine up to or around this level of awesomeness 😁 great lap bud.
Fantastica suby...se voleva purgava pure la porsche ...
Ne aveva in piu...slmeno alle curve...e si cedeva grande suby❤😊
nice bit of driving shame he just didnt let you have your day ....
great video gave him a run for his £££
nice job guys.
