You did a fantastic review on the Polaris Northstar Ultimate that parallels the quality of the vehicle. Your summary is very clear and certainly informative. You have changed my mind from purchasing a CamAm Defender MAX Limited that I was looking firmly at purchasing. I have owned a few Can Am quads and still own an Outlander Max LTD and has been fantastic. You can say I have been a fan of Can Am. In the UTV market Can Am has some catching up to do on side by sides added features, especially on the top level models. ( for instance the window does not go below flush on the CanAm Defender MAX LTD and will be a MAJOR irritation driving with your arm or elbow area resting out the window... that was extremely ignorant engineering) Thank you for an excellent video!!
It is so nice to see Polaris being inspired by the automotive industry. When someone is considering a high end model the fit and finish are high on the list. I can't wait to see what comes next. Thanks for the great review.
well i did get it and me and the wife just love everything about it get for driving into town and around the lake pulling hay rides behind it
Just got the 2020 Northstar Ultimate and we love it. Added the upper brush guard on the front , 17"LED above the winch and a Razorback cargo rack for the back. Really love the gas mileage on these as you could probably get around 400-450 miles on a tank. Also added 2 4" cube lights on the back of the cargo rack. Adding the Super ATV rock sliding nerf bars today. If we ever get any snow here in coastal Maine will be adding tracks.
My wife and I took delivery of that very 12 days before Christmas the video was very educational you miss one small feature the windshield will latch 2 inches out where are you can still get a breeze without the air conditioner on👍🏼

This isn’t a side by side that’s super small truck . They have heavy duty, full size , mid size , and small size , this is a mf super small size truck
Just bought the 2023 version, and yes, everything you said is true. I'm loading it up with more nurf bar addition, side and headlock. Put on upgraded tires which handle like a dream on hard surface. Love the machine, but you are right, it's not cheap! Only improvements, 4 speed fan in the cab.

Polaris knows how to build a machine back in the day I bought a brand new 1999 500cc sportsman and a plow for winter snow clearing my kids were young we used it on the weekends for fun and in the winter pulling them around on a sled behind the machine and clearing snow , we went and looked at all the brands when buying it and settled on the sportsman it had been voted four wheeler of the year in one of the magazines so we bought it , now kids are grown and moved away , still have her out in the garage with the plow on waiting to push snow if need be , she allway's ran good still does , thanks .
Well done on the review. The recent evolution in SxSs is incredible. No longer are they an ATV turned SxS but more like mini SUV/trucks. Just need to get Polaris to come close to the reliability of a King Ranch, Denali, or BigHorn.
I'm not out of the game with my 09 Sportsman 850 XP but if I could afford one, this would be a nobrainer, excellent review and great job Polaris!

@@michaelscott369 I have a new truck. And I only paid $80k for it, too much? I wanted a new Northstar Ultimate to work on the farm, play with grandkids and wife, AC in summer and heat in the winter. The new RZR is for just me and my dog.
Why does anyone care that I may not have gotten the best deal?
I hope they do a NorthStar version of the General. It would be stupid amounts of cash but I believe there would be a enough people that want a more sporty rig for 30+K.

My 2019 ranger northstar is great. I went with a sno-ex plow because of my mile long driveway. Very happy with the machine. No breakdowns at all.
Went to buy a 2023 General loaded and was so disappointed with the fit, finish, rattles and noise. I backed out of the deal. The owner of the dealership said obviously you want the best and said he wanted to show us something. It was a 2023 Ranger Northstar Ultimate. We fell in love. Unbelievable fit and finish and for a little more you get full cab, AC, Heat etc. The one he showed us was so. We ordered one. It's not over priced compared to a loaded General. Now we can ride anytime and adding a plow and can sell my 16 k Kubota tractor.
Nice looking ride AJ - just about all the bells and whistles but a light in the box, a 12 volt outlet for a cooler and backup light on a bumper would finish the ride. If you want everything, might as well include the above and make the sub woofer an option as this looks like its for the older crowd. Cheers and stay safe

I bought the 2019 North star HVAC xp 1000 eps 2 years ago, been smiling every since! Love the machine , have added many upgrades. Ride comfort install on the way!
This is my Lotto Max rig. I really hope that the plow mode makes it's way down the line to other models. Maybe it's just me, but that mode is a game changer for snow plowing. I'm more excited for that than heat. HaHa

Coming from a Yamaha guy id say its definitely a impressive looking and sounding sxs , basically be like driving a truck with all the bells and whistles !

Mine is on order. Due in no later then 12/28/20. Was looking at the General but after we started pricing all The add on's the cost made more sense to just go with the North Star Ultimate. Now just hurry up and get hear.
This machine is everything they say it is plus. I use it as my main ride because I am handicapped and it is easy to get into. I put on 850 miles in two months, I love it.I put on area lights so I can work at night.. Crazy bright All around.

Great Ranger. I bought one after this review. Really helped plowing this winter and will be of great benefit on the ranch. However, the bench seats that go straight up and down hurt us old weightlifters. Drive hard on the spine. Hoping to find a way to tilt that seat. Saw on one of the forums a steel cage seat. Going to look into that. Great review.

I have a 2017 that i payed about 26500.00 for it that included turn signals and emergency flashers because we like riding the roads in Wisconsin, although we live in Illinois but they support recreation so we have to go north, but we love that machine does not matter what the weather is we go all the time ,but then again we are 66 yrs old , young people can't afford something that expensive

Best part of Polaris coming out with machines like this is it'll push more reliable manufacturers to do the same. I'd never be able to talk myself into spending that much money on a Polaris. Hard enough talking myself into the RMAX4 1000! 😂 Nice video DT!! 👍

I was going to buy a 2024 can am defender 10 Limited until I watched an oil change comparison between can am and polaris and that convinced me to go polaris 2024 northstar ultimate
I hunted in Colorado in one ,my buddy bought,we went everywhere,loaded elk and mule deer in the bed ,oh did I say we were glassing up elk with the heater on when it was 7 outside ! I’m sold . Plenty of stability and power.
I just got my 2021 in and I love it. Worth the wait add a horn for the 2022.
Unreal. I have a 2020 with winter prep because I like to remove the windows and doors often and money. But, when I get a bit older I'll get a Northstar.

Just wanted to let everyone know that even the 2023 ranger northstar xp1000 does not come with any stereo speakers, they are all added accessories costing a total of over $1800.00
Thought the review was excellent! I have a 2017 northstar, and have been looking to upgrade. Primary complains are the terrible seal on doors and roof. I would like to see you test the unit at max payload. I use mine for work and keep a 900lb sprayer in the back. The slightest inclines make the front end extremely light. Also a towing test would be great to see how it performs . Mine tows my Carolina skiff great. Some video/sound of it driving down the road would also be good to help judge the wind noise / road noise/ any leakage that might be happening into the cab. Just trying to give some feedback for things that I’ve noticed and hope that it helps some other people out and make your reviews even better!
I have 2017 North Star also. Every year the cab leaks a little more. I put a 40 gallon sprayer with booms the thing looks like it going to break in half. Use it for picking rocks you must leave the tailgate down or it won’t unlatch. Typical Polaris low quality and over priced just like high country Chevy only good for driving around town and hauling groceries.

Are there any chassis improvements on the NorthStar? For $25K+ I would expect to get a more capable machine, but it seems mostly like its just a XP 1000 winter prep with ride command and cameras. Wouldn't it make more sense just to get an XP Premium and get the optional add-ons? You can outfit it for about $4000 less and get almost all the features.

I just bought the Ranger 570 Premium and added a roof, glass windshield, with wiper, rear windshield, poly doors with crank windows, front brush guard with 3500 lb. winch, tow hitch and mats. It's supposed to be shipped 2/25/22. It's not the NorthStar Ultimate but it will do. 21,350 out the door so I would guess the Ultimate is somewhere around 30k?

I have a 2017 900 XP & it still is so nice I can't trade her in yet but when I do, I will go for the same model only difference is engine size, Mine has the same features as this one, minus the stereo & camera setup. Might as well get the 1000.

I also had the dealer install a street legal kit side mirrors and tracks for winter so you are right the price was very dear but I am old and sold all my other toys and horses and wanted something I could use winter and summer

Love the General. Have had several Ranger 1000 Crew's. An amazing vehicle. Have had a couple overheating issues while in the sand for a period of time. Upgrade to snorkle if ypur going to be rolling deep in the sand. Thanks for the great content guys.

That's a crazy rig wish all machines had the plow control option, and the sealed cab with heat is pretty awesome. Any of the old suzuki sameri lovers, this is like a brand new one. Lol

Great machine though. Wife and dog are happy, no dust, and good music. Can't wait to get up north and try out in snow and use the heater.

E-bike that looks like a cbr300 can go wizzing down the road with "pedals" in ontario with no license, no insurance and the guy can have a current DUI on his record. That's fine. Having a sxs with roll cage and seat belt... Now that's a nono on the road... 🙄
You can make it street legal but low speed vehicle can't take it on the highway

Yes you can buy other rigs that are a better value depending on what is important to you. But who builds a rig that has all of these features better? Some may say Can Am and that would be their choice. I find the stub nosed Can Am's kind of ugly myself and have not been that impressed with their overall package. I own a 2018 Ranger XP 1000 and absolutely love it. I traded it off this week and am waiting for my new Burgundy XP1000 NorthStar Ultimate...…..I'm told sometime in January. There is a reason all of the dealers showrooms are empty and you have to wait 2 months to get one. Awesome machines!!

@@redmaple4559 Funny you ask.....got a call from the dealer last week with bad news. Said Polaris has a vendor issue with Northstar parts and I may not see it until March-May timeframe. I'm not usually a patient man but the deal is done so I'll keep putting free miles on my Trade in till it get's here.

We pick up our 2021 Northstar Ultimate Trail Edition this week. My biggest hope is that they have fixed the door hinges. We have a 2019 Northstar Crew and neither of the front doors will latch without slamming the doors while pulling up. The “C” design of the front door lower hinge is not what one expects on a $27,000 Side by Side. Why they don’t weld the “c” into a closed “O” makes no sense.

Nice review. If only there was some company that made a cap/canopy/topper for the sxs market? This would be the only thing left to complete this rig. Keep everything in the bed dry, or give more room for stuff or even a place to put our furry friends.

Thanks for all the informative videos and reviews you guys put out. I've been debating and educating myself on what sxs to buy for my southern Arizona fun. I was originally looking at the Rmax XTR and the Commander XTP. My wife and I recently went riding trails with some freinds and one of them had a Ranger crew cab Northstar with heat and air. My wife thought that would be so nice to have. Well then my attention turned to those units, more education! After about two months of pondering what to buy I just pulled the trigger on a 2022 ranger crew Northstar Ultimate! :)Lucky to find one in stock 2 hours away. Lots of $$ but my wife is as happy as I am, what more can you ask for!?

Now if Polaris could use the money they make to lobby with mn law makers to give us more area to ride these units. The amount of rideable terrain in their own backyard is severely lacking. We could learn a thing or two from our Wisconsin neighbors.

A very nice review. I have a 2013 full cab with all options, plus many added ones. I do have power windows and heater, no air. My doors sure don't shut like these. I really want to go to my local Polaris dealer, but I don't. (if you know what I mean) Like you said, it's why we trade in our pick-ups for the new models. "Pretty-darn-Nice.." lol
Pretty soon the polaris ranger will cost as much as a ford ranger.
The last couple of years of the last gen Ranger (stopped sales in 2011, I believe) were going for well under $20k. This UTV is $30k+.
Would bet money on the price for this unit is more then a ford ranger ..and the ford would be alot more useful

I have 2 Northstar 1000s a 2017 and 2019 Polaris still has fit and finish issues,every dump box is on crooked to the cab ,doors dont fit properly ,air comes in through firewall,top of windshield leaks,front tires dont have camber adjustment so your tires wear uneven and super noisy in the cab so you have to wear ear plugs.For the money you pay for these they should be way better quality.On the flip side kinda handy though.

If your gonna keep comparing it to a defender then note the following:
Defender has more under seat storage and rifle mounts. Can-Am has a far better warranty and customer service than Polaris! After dealing with Polaris on our new General that’s been in the shop 4 times in one year I will never own another Polaris
That’s the pinnacle of all SxS’s. To afford one is to expect that level of quality. Question. In the snowmobile world most of us pride ourselves owning the latest suspension systems with all the adjustments and bump absorbing tec to ride groomed trails. So why in the dirt market where a lot of us like it rough do they only offer oil non adjustable shocks. Seems really weird to a new atvr like me.
I think some sort of upgraded suspension would be a good option for this UTV. I would bet Polaris has a new technology they've been working on that's something between high end adjustables and DYNAMIX. Wouldn't surprise me at all.
You need to look at sport models. This is a utility line.

That's a gorgeous machine! I get that it's three times the price but it's still a shame the Sportsman 570 doesn't have as good fit and finish; we know Polaris can do it. I'd like to see a comparo between this and the equivalent Can-Am.
