  • CoughAssist T70 clears secretions from the lungs by gradually applying positive air pressure to the airway and then rapidly shifting to negative air pressure . The resulting high expiratory flow simulates a deep, natural cough.

    I've seen being used on my patient for the first time Friday. It's remarkable for patients suffering from neuro diseases and need the additional help.

    Do you have to apply continuously in vocal cord palsy cases?

    • @PhilipsHC
      @PhilipsHC  5 лет назад +1

      Hi there, Hemanth, thanks for your question. CoughAssist is not a ventilator and is not meant to be used continuously. The pressures and frequency may vary according to patient and disease process. Please consult the ordering physician for treatment frequency. We hope this was helpful!

    I didn't get you when you said to inflate or deflate the cuffed tube before assisting with the cough machine?

      Maybe you should not be operating this piece of medical equipment if that was not clear for you.

    If someone can’t operate this on their own, and can’t really speak anymore, should this be assisted be by non medical family members? It seems terrifying to me (I have a family member with AS who is 80 and very frail.). If this is something I could learn in real life, I will try. But this video scares me. Any suggestions from experience would be welcome
