A nice dialogue between Cello & Orchestra, so important with string instruments and concerto writing. Ok, it's not the greatest of Cello Concertos but well worth an outing in the London concert halls.
He is not Dvorak or Brahms only because lazy conductors play the same music again and again so that most listeners are trained like dogs to react to a familiar combination of sounds
Brahms did write a double concerto with violin and cello. Dvorak wrote 2 cello concertos, but the first one was a student work that was never orchestrated by him, and didn't receive a first performance until after his death.
Thank you Johann. But no solo cello concerto from Brahms and the Concerto in A major by Dvorak is actually quite good. I was hoping to test Mr Svatopluk's knowledge, but your timely interception has let him off the hook!! Carry on your magnificent work, always a pleasure to converse with you. David
Sorry. I, too, get irritated by ill-founded comparisons between composers considered 'great' and the lesser-known figures. It does no one any good, least of all the one making the comparison.
Totally agree Johann, these are not only unhelpful but disrespectful to the composer under scrutiny. Over the last few years I have been sending entire seasons of Prom programs to the Controller of the BBC in an effort to get performed many pieces that never have been at this music festival. I get polite replies, but nothing changes. They continue to promote music written today, most of which will never be performed again, and 9 times out of 10 is mediocre to say the least. I research for many months before putting together the concerts and your postings have been absolutely invaluable. It's sad they will not look at under performed masterpieces of yesteryear. I fail every time, but enjoy doing it. Who knows, one day!!!!! David.
Complimenti caro Richter....bell suono ,grande musicalità .
Lovely concerto!!!
I like this performance

Ok, he's not Dvorak or Brahms; but this is well crafted and tuneful. A welcome break from the usual suspects.

thank GOD he's not Brahms or Dvorak - they get aired far too much. Nice to hear "new" music.
To my ears, he's a substantial offering.
Did Brahms write Cello Concerto? I think not Mr Svatopluk. Maybe you can tell me how many Dvorak wrote?

@@DavidA-ps1qr Would love to see your list. Would you post it?
But there is something of Cello Concerto de Max Bruch.
What, if any, Bruch Cello Concerto?
