Lovely interview. As a former skeptic I didn't think that vision boards were anything much, then I tried it and while it doesn't always work 100%, I've found that it does help to align your wishes and goals for the year.
I used it in december 2019, to project myself back into a job where I don't sit at home and work from my home office like I had for 3 years at that time... Gave me nearly two good months.

Vision boarding works...I completed them for years and I put I will be a big winner on Wheel of Fortune one day...after 5 yrs I finally was chosen after auditioning (March 2019) and won 2nd place (money, trip to Aruba) ..I was so humbled. Watched the show with my daddy for many years. I got so nervous and forgot to mention my university USC...proud alumni 2004 (msw)!! ✌️

I want to own my own business , to buy a home out right - no mortgage, so I can leave it to my son. I want a little conceptual art gallery by the time I’m 50. I want a good group of friends who I have dinner with at least once a month. I’d like an herb garden. To have enough money to buy whatever I want whenever I want at the grocery shop. To heat my home properly in the winter. To afford food quality footwear/insoles ( we need that as we age) , to laugh more. And a fire pit with one big cuddle chair to sit and drink wine with the great love of my life. But so they say … Simon cowell has more chance of becoming prime minister than we do if finding true love , so I’ve given up on the last one.

WHY? You deserve to have the desires of your heart… but if you don’t BELIEVE you can have it, Just stop the talk. Get into a vision board, treasure map, whatever… and ask your Creator for it! Everywhere there are religion based groups that do this snd like- minded people pray with you to make your requests and believe with you that it can happen. If the stuff is out there to be had, why shouldn’t YOU have it? It’s not about greed. It’s about (well)being! Are you doing your best to be of service in the Lord’s mission? The people in my life have largely done nothing but fill me with regret. In fact, if I ever thought I really was falling in love, that thought would simultaneously fill me with fear.
Well that's almost as bad as my fear that oif I love someone that they will soon pass out of this life (die) so if I really care about them I better ditch them fast.
This is due to the brain’s negativity bias, and it sounds like you may be dealing with unresolved trauma, and also lack meaningful connection to others. I think there’s nothing wrong with being that way, per se, but if you desire to thrive by healing and going beyond those states, I bet you can do it. Slowly and gradually.

But you're right, there is something "off" not loving since grade school. That grand emotion even for that one person isn't there. Muted. In her case, I think the only way to feel love is with pain, for when she dies. Which is also odd, 'cause her death will also set me free. I will turn nomad soon after with my retirement.

There is a way to shift this and to recover from trauma and build meaningful and fulfilling relationships, even after all you’ve been through. You may want to research recovery methods, seek counseling, etc. It’s worth it. Good luck.

Not everyone can reach their vision. If that were the case we'd all be millionaires, or actors, or sports people etc etc. That would mean there would be no one to buy the tickets to watch us perform so then none of us would make money and we'd be back to square one. Dreams come true or follow your dream or if you dream it it'll come..... all bollocks. It's just my realistic opinion.
I hate to have to say this, but vision boarding comes from an idea that you can manifest the things you want. This became popular when Ophra talked about how great the book, The Secret was, its nonesense. Now, the concept is from magic, that your perception creates your reality & in some ways this is true. For example, if in your head, you are constantly trashing yourself, or if you've been abused for a while & you begin to believe the abuse, you will "create" that reality for yourself. Likewise, if you are a more positive person, your perception will be more positive. The problem with the vision board/manifestation idea is the unspoken side of it. The idea is that if you envision it, it will happen, but sadly, if it doesn't happen, then you start to feel like you don't deserve it. MLM's run on this idea, capitalism runs on this idea, the American myth runs on this idea, you can have anything & everything IF you work/wish hard enough, & when things like being poor, being a person of color, being a woman, being an excon, being uneducated, when those very real things ensure that you have less access & opportunity, all the wishing & positive thinking in the world will not change that. And instead of all of us working together to effect change so that everyone can have the same opportunities, famous & wealthy people & influencers tell you to wish real hard instead. I hate it.
You don't understand how the law of attraction works. Oprah grew up in the backwater of Mississipi, poorer than poor. Her mother's vision for her was that she should find some nice white folks and become a maid for them. Oprah managed to sustain a better vision for herself and became a billionaire. It's not about wishing or working hard, it's about cultivating the feeling that you already have what you want. It's not the wishing, but the feeling of the wish fulfilled that gets you there.
