  • In this video I'm in Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe. The baroque complex with the castle, the Hercules statue and the trick fountains was built at the beginning of the 18th century on the slope of the Habichtswald. As a unique cultural monument, the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe was recognized as the 38th World Heritage Site in Germany by UNESCO.
The Löwenburg is a pleasure palace built from 1793 in Kassel's Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe.
The castle, built as an artificial castle ruin, stands above Wilhelmshöhe Castle in the southern part of the mountain park and thus south of the Wilhelmshöhe-Hercules castle line of sight at about 350 m above sea level. NN on the eastern edge of the Hoher Habichtswald. The Löwenburg served its builder Landgrave Wilhelm IX. von Hessen-Kassel as a private retreat and in 1821 also became his burial place. In terms of art history, the complex is considered groundbreaking, as one of the first important neo-Gothic buildings in Germany.
