Total Biscuits glowing review of this game made me get it, my first steps into 40k. I now own 10ish 40k audiobooks and a lot of the games. Looking forward to this summer now.

He got me into 40k too, have lost count of how many books i own(probably about 50-60), if you are looking for some to read I highly recumend the Gaunt's Ghosts and Ciaphas Cain books.
I wish he were still with us so that he could experience the Darktide that we have today. I remember him saying he'd love to play 40K version of Vermintide.
I feel like Vermintide, despite the focus on 40k for this project still needs to be given a go. For one, it's a phenomenal game. And I'm not even an FPS guy - but I was hooked on that for a long while. And also, I mean...ratJam...clearly...
@urazz7739 there is a khan, but hid name is Jaghatai Khan. Most just call him Jaghatai, hes Mongolian themed. Khorne and Kharn are the only ones mentioned frequently. Unless you play eldar then you hear Khaine sometimes
It is a Relic game, so of course they'll insert their own boys in it in some way. ^^ When it came out, I was more surprised (and a bit disappointed) that you didn't play as one of them. I'm not very fond of uncle Guileman's (or however he's spelled) smurfs.

I mean a Space Marine is definitely more likely to not die in nearly any given situation than the majority of Inquisitors, so its not like crazy for him to ask space marines to do a thing for him.
If you're into WH40K and RTS, I can recommend Dawn of War... the first two anyway. Some space marines are really messed up, like drinking the blood of their enemies, or eating their flesh. Though the smurfs (i.e. Ultra Marines) are probably the second most "good-tow-shoes" chapter, as far as this can even be used in a 40K setting, among the Astartes, with only the Salamanders beating them to it. Judging by the trailers for Space Marine 2, you'll be able to play marines from different chapters there.

Unfortunately not -- he watched the Luetin videos on stream during the subathon. He got permission from Luetin to watch them on stream, but Luetin asked that he not re-upload them (which is totally fair).
Should be noted that 40k (and Fantasy) used to be way more grimdark than today. They injected a lot of anime into their recent iterations of those franchises. Like old Warcraft to current Warcraft, they dulled out the edgy gothicness and made it more marketing friendly.
WOOHOO! as an old time warhammer enjoyer it makes me happy to see you enjoying it, Space Marine was certainly a game I enjoyed and I'm looking forward to the sequel, I am however interested to see your reaction to the final boss fight in Space Marine (no spoilers) it also makes me grim that you love Orks as i currently have some OrKs on my desk being painted so I shall close off with WWAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHH!!!

I think one problem he missed out about game duration is pricing. You can take the resent game Senuas Saga being 5hours long for £50 seems mad to pay for that

Obviously its heavily summarized and I think the best for as a quick-guide for anyone new. Then I'd suggest 'Adeptus Ridiculous' and the loremaster himself 'Luetin90' for when you have more lengthier time slots available. Welcome to the Grim dark future Mike. You will certainly love how dark and batshit crazy things are.
Amusingly, that is not even close to how effective space marines actually are. Its maybe two orks per marine and thats only the worst orks. If the ork isn't just some git they're equal. The human equivalent of an Ork, the Orgryn, is bigger and stronger than a marine. That said, leaning into the propaganda power fantasy was a good call for this game. But god does it make the imperium fanboys annoying sometimes when they think its accurate.
Fack yeah i love warhammer (despite all its flaws and GW) i really hope youll dip into Vermintide, Vermintide 2 and Darktide - i love those games to bits. not sure if preach is going to touch fantasy at all but i prefer it even over 40k. fatshark brings the Warhammer aesthetic to live like no other studio did Dawn of War 1 is also amazing despite its age (stuff like character voices overlapping during dialogue, bad resolution etc.) mechanicus might also be a game preach would enjoy - looking forward to this a lot
