Not sure if you're aware and/or have seen them but most songs have both an MV/performance video and a "dance practice," a video solely focusing on showing the entire choreography (usually in a practice room, well-lit, zoomed out). It's often the case some of my favorite parts of a choreography will either be cut from or be difficult to see in the MVs, so I definitely recommend checking those out too if you haven't!
Chungha is actually trained in voguing and waacking!! Her newest song Ready is entirely waacking (from what I remember) and It’d be really cool to see your reaction of it!! Also I don’t know if you also do tutting but naughty by red velvet has an entirely tutting choreography that I always love watching people’s reactions to
Chungha learned waacking when I think when she was younger and has lived in states so we call her the Queen of Waacking because not a lot of idols in k-pop don't have that particular skill set. Please look her dance practice as well. She had come back called I'm Ready that you might like as well.
I would love to see you react to Chungha’s “I’m Ready” music video because I know Kiki West from the House of West and Jayme from House of Louboutin were two of the dancers and the song is just epic.
One thing about Chungha is that she wants people who know their stuff to be the ones in charge, especially when it comes to dance because that is are area of preference (although she is definitely as all rounder with the vocals and rap and visual). She very respects her dancers and their opinions even if they aren’t in charge of making the choreography (and she hates it she people and/or her fans call them “backups” dancers)
i came right away as soon as i saw omg... time for me to figure out which dancers are in the korean ballroom scene and what their houses are bc im bored and it's so cool in retrospect after having more experience being in the ballroom scene now :') one thing to note though is that in my understanding of the asian dance scene particularly, a lot of voguers are also waackers!! chungha herself is a trained waacker. hence i think while finding dancers, a lot of waackers instead of voguers were involved these are the dancers i recognized based on the dance practice video where their faces are clearer! the male dancers/butch queens you pointed out: jayme louboutin 007 (comingout crew) kiki 007 west (comingout crew, founding mother of the kiki house of juun.j) ezy kitsch 007 (comingout crew) kinky (comingout crew, eoddae) out of the femme figure dancers: rian (lachica) -> choreographer gabee (lachica) simeez (lachica) founding mother ran love 007 -> choreographer i don't think i see them in the video, but in the original draft choreo that love ran posted onto her instagram, other members of the house of love from that time were seen in it too!
Thank you for the additional info! Really appreciate this -- very glad to have names associated with this. I recognized a few of the butch queens as well but great to have this confirmed! Your point about waacking is super interesting as well -- I don't think that's entirely uncommon over here in the US as well as there's definitely a lot of crossover but it does seem to be more linked in asia for sure.
@@GravityJacobs almost all of the butch queens that i recognized here are in fact waackers in addition to being in the ballroom scene, and other notable people in the scene that i am aware of are largely waackers as well so i also found that very interesting ! i think two very prominent examples in the korean ballroom scene would be prince wizzard (juun.j labeija) and haejun (007 gorgeous gucci, formerly founding mother of the kiki house of seas, now ivy)? they're both highly influential in both the voguing and waacking scenes in korea
Thank you for naming almost all members of the Coming Out crew!!! Most people forget that some of them were also part of the SMF LGBTQ+ dance team EODDAE 💖🔥🏳️🌈
they're actually all in the video! (gabee, simez, rian, ran), u can see them in some dance cuts with the the black outfits mostly, but usually gabee and ran are right next to chungha. ran and rian are also the centers for the backs voguing solo! sad the editing lf the video doesn't show em that much 😭😭
I would love to see you react to Sung Hanbin! He's a member of boy group ZEROBASEONE, and recently released a solo performance with Studio Choom for their "Artist Of The Month" series. Technically he does not perform full vogue, he was a trained waacker in the past and focuses largely on tutting now, but did train with Titch Ninja (of both the House of Love (KR) and House of Ninja (US)! ) A lot of his AOTM performance involves heavy arm control work, and he blends influences between the arm skills he learned from Titch as well as the tutting/waacking influences. In general it's just a really fun dynamic hand performance and I think you'd enjoy it in any case 😁 He also did a waacking battle with Lip J, another famous korean waacker! Thank you for taking time to look into this stuff, it's so great to see your opinion as a professional come into play. I knew Stay Tonight was vogue dance but completely didn't realize the point about it blending Old Way and New Way. That adds so much cool dimension to the performance, it's awesome!
another vogue-influenced kpop choreography is LA DI DA by EVERGLOW! if you want to react, definitely look at both the MV and the choreo MV bc the MV doesn't show much of the choreo tbh. one of the choreographers is Choi Haejun, trans woman and vogue fem dancer who is the founding mother of the korean House of Seas and also a member of the International House of Gorgeous Gucci. not sure about the dancers, but Haejun is so cool and LA DI DA is such a fun song!
you can even see her perform the choreo with them on the 1MILLION Dance Studio channel which is so fun to watch (she's in the white sweatsuit) ruclips.net/video/6fdXsoVNJis/видео.html&ab_channel=1MILLIONDanceStudio
With as saturated as the K-Pop reaction space has been, you are a breath of fresh air and I love your take and perspective on K-pop coming from a Vogue and Ballroom background. Looking forward to watching more of your reactions.
If you want a full vogue choreo in the kpop scene, I highly recommend "Colors" by Solar! It primarily focuses more on femme vogue choreographed by Korea's mother of vogue, Love Ran :)
You absolutly have to watch one of the performance videos because there was soooo much more that you can’t see in the MV also Chung and her choreographer did the choreo she’s has been well trained from a young age
Maybe in the future you can react to the performance video or the live performance because there is more focus on the dance, but was still cool to learn more about voguing
I'm not opposed to it! The reason I've focused on the MVs so far is that I think it's equally interesting to look at the way vogue ends up getting translated through the production process of filming, editing, and cinematography as it is to just look at the movement itself. Something I haven't talked about too much yet (but will definitely in the future!) is that one of the biggest issues with vogue in any mainstream production is the fact that it's often being filmed, edited and spliced together by people who don't understand the musicality or physicality of how things are supposed to appear, so you'll get stuff like off beat dips or duckwalks on the upbeat that aren't the fault of the dancers. I'll definitely mix it up between the choreography videos and the MVs going forward though!
Definitely watch the practice room performance version where she is in white. It is so much easier to see what is going on in this gorgeous choreography.
I'm so happy you actually saw it! The dance practice for it has even more vogue elements to it. You'll see that the backup dancers actually do catwalk and dip in the dance break before the last chorus. And I didn't know Love Ram was the movement director behind this! She's also behind Solar's "Colors". All the dancers for both the music video and the stage performances of "Colors" belong to the House of Love. It's interesting because Solar is not particularly known for being a dancer, but she's feeling her oats in "Colors" and it shows. Hope you get to see it as well. Love your work, Gravity! ❤
I'd definitely recommend looking at her more recent single "I'm Ready." Look for the one labeled "performance video" or the dance practice. That one pushes things much further. (People have already rec'd these to you a lot, but Solar's Colors and Hanbin's dance videos/everything are worth checking out too.)
A couple of other people have mentioned this already but Chungha was a part of a waacking team when she lived in Texas before she became and idol and when you look at her solo work you can clearly see the influences of waacking and other ballroom styles in her movements, the choreography, and also the dancers that she uses within her performances. She partners with choreographers who are part of the house of love a fair amount and you can definitely see that she cares about the dancing and the culture. I’d definitely suggest checking out more of her music like dream of you and her newest one I’m ready
As someone who did a bit of voguing back in the day and is currently a kpop fan, I'm loving these videos! I love team Coming Out too! Jaime especially is a fantastic performer! I hope you react to Colors by Solar some time! It's my favorite use of vogue in kpop so far!
Please watch these videos. You should definitely see this - it will be a hit!🤩 Yoncé (Electric Bodega Trap Remix) - Beyoncé / Lia Kim Choreography Boys - Britney Spears / Hyojin Choi Choreography Call Me Mother - RuPaul / Hyojin Choi Choreography
i love this reaction! chungha is a phenomenal dancer who really brings out the shapes in a choreography. this choreo was her first that was so centered around voguing but she has a lot of experience in that area and she really knows how to bring a vision to life. i really recommend other dancing videos from her as she's such an amazing dancer. play, dream of you and i'm ready are some of her most difficult pieces and are so interesting to watch! chungha is one of the few idols who have always put a light on her dancers, calling them dancers instead of backup dancers (which is how they're often referred to in kpop) and that is evident in the formations in her choreographies, where the dancers get to share the spotlight with her. her dance practices are better in my opinion because of the cool formations in her dances! i really hope to see more chungha from this channel :)
I definitely would recommend watching the dance practice for Chunghas song "I'm Ready"! It would be wonderful to hear what you have to say about it, and, in my opinion she really outdid herself there. The dance practice is basically a showcase of the final dance in its entirety, so you don't miss anything and can really enjoy it while avoiding the music video editing or having to watch a concert clip.
I've always love vogue before I even know that those kinda movement has it's own genre and names! So finding you was like discovering a treasure box amongst the sea of RUclips! Thank you for making this video, it makes me happy to learn more about vogue thru the media that I LOVE, K-POP
Can I just say I am so thankful and appreciative you are in the reaction/analysis space with some of these routines. I absolutely love watching waacking and Vogue become more represented in the commercial scene internationally, but am even more thankful that I don’t feel as alone now in how these routines need to be explained for the beauty of the craft! Outside of being a RUclipsr, I have personally enjoyed watching your movement quality and a lot of my knowledge in Vogue key elements have come from your tutorials and video from back in the day ♥️♥️ thank you ♥️♥️
Gravity Jacobs, love this video! And I also loved your video on Le Sserafim as well! Please check out the famous Japanese voguers Aya and Bambi. They have a lot of great videos on RUclips, but maybe you can start with the one titled "Aya sato workshop 2014 5 4"; it's really cool! They were really popular before, and unfortunately, I don't think they're very active now, but I'd love to hear your wonderful thoughts on the and their voguing style! looking forward to a possible future video on them!
i think if you like this one, chungha also has another song titled "i'm ready" and i know the performace has a lot of voguey/hand dance elements to it as well!!
Since you liked this, i think you should definitely check out colors by solar, glitch by kwon eunbi and who am I by weki meki. They were all choreographed by founding mother love ran
I'm a longtime K-Pop and ballroom fan, so I'm so happy to see this breakdown/reaction from you, Gravity! If you don’t mind recs, Taemin's "Move" is one I'm curious about for you. Same with SHINHWA's "This Love".
I love hearing perspectives from people who really have experience and knowledge in dance. I know I really enjoy watching vogueing, but I know nothing about the actual intricacies of the body movements. Chungha is a really amazing dancer and she was one of the first mainstream idols to really showcase this style of dance. The performance video of her newest song “I’m Ready” is incredible, if you could react to it it would be amazing. Other recs are This Love by Shinhwa, Naughty by Irene/Seulgi, Colors by Solar, La Di Da by Everglow, Glitch by Eunbi and Bop Bop by Viviz for some vogueing/tutting inspiration/choreo.
The male dancers are also male industry dancers (at least the few I recognize. Kinky in particular stands out to me. He was involved in street man fighter and most of them are part of a couple different queer crews and can be seen as backup dancers in many kpop songs and mvs. Chungha works with them a lot in particular and has really built a rapport with them.
LOVE hearing your takes on kpop Vogue. Spot on about cis women being a larger demographic in EA ballroom (well, performance) than in other countries. But we’re trying to grow our FQ presence here in Tokyo!!
I love her dancing, you should see also the dance practice ones or the performance versions of the videos, she dances it the house down!!! Also I'd love to see you reacting to Irene & Selgui - Naughty
Loveeee this song! You should absolutely react to the dance practice video they uploaded for this though! So many amazing details left out, the dance break at the end is amazing
Please you have to check our Everglow - La Di Da, especially their Studio Choom performance where you can really appreciate the movement and elements they incorporated!!!
Absolutely love these videos! I was going to comment and recommend you react to the dance practices, but I changed my mind when you talked about the creative process and how it was clear the camera work understood the language of Vogue. It’s not just about the choreography. Here’s some recommendations of other songs to react to in order from most to least relevant: Colors - Solar Naughty - Irene & Selugi (this is more tutting than Vogue hands but it’s one of the most detailed choreos I’ve seen in kpop) La Di Da - Everglow (this is kind of a stretch and there probably wouldn’t be more to comment on than the chorus and dance break)
i recommend "I'm ready" from Chungha and any other song to be honest, almost all of them have Voguing elements. But please remember to watch "dance practice" instead of music videos. Then you can analyze and see all! :)
I’m so happy you checked this out! ChungHa is for the GURRLLS! ✨ One thing she’ll do is incorporate the gays and we love to see it! I hope you’ll get to react to her song/video for “I’m Ready (extended performance)”! It’s sooooo good! 💛✨
You should also react to Mamamoo Solar's Colors it's a banger! Also, she collaborated with voguers and is completely done using vogue techniques. Hope you enjoy it as much as us fans do 🥰
I think if you watch any more of Chungha's songs you should watch the performance or dance practices instead of the MV. Since their more dance focused~ I would love to see a reaction to I'm Ready~
I recommend you check "Dream of you" and "Im ready" from her, the performance ver. of both i think you would like those a loot! Also Colors by Solar i think you would love it
really enjoyed this video too!! my only suggestion would be to check out the dance practice/performance videos for the songs as well! the companies usually produce a high quality choreo focused video in addition to the mv so you can get a fuller picture((:
Yes the dancers and te performance director of the choreography are pro Vougers the main choreographer is Mother Love Ran she is the mother of vougueing in Korea, some of the Dancer are part of the ballroom scene, Kiki (House Of Jjunn) Jayme (Korean Father of the House of Louboutin) most of the girls are from House of love the house of Love. I recommend you Colors By Solar that it’s pure Vogue Femme, again by Love Ran, and you should see the Practice
This!
I was about to comment that, cause Stay Tonight has a dance pratice and it's so good to see the whole choreo, but thank u for letting him know!
Yes practice videos help to see the choreography way better!
Especially for choreo that uses so many interesting pictures that can only really be capture face-on!
was about to say this!! choreos like this one REALLY deserve a watch
Chungha is actually trained in voguing and waacking!! Her newest song Ready is entirely waacking (from what I remember) and It’d be really cool to see your reaction of it!! Also I don’t know if you also do tutting but naughty by red velvet has an entirely tutting choreography that I always love watching people’s reactions to
Are u sure she trained in voguing?
I think only waacking
Are u sure she trained in voguing?

she only trained in Waacking, Stay Tonight was the first time she did Vogue
No she wasn't trained in voguing. Knowing some voguing basics/elements is not the same as actually being in ballroom
Chungha learned waacking when I think when she was younger and has lived in states so we call her the Queen of Waacking because not a lot of idols in k-pop don't have that particular skill set. Please look her dance practice as well. She had come back called I'm Ready that you might like as well.

these are the dancers i recognized based on the dance practice video where their faces are clearer!
the male dancers/butch queens you pointed out:
jayme louboutin 007 (comingout crew)
kiki 007 west (comingout crew, founding mother of the kiki house of juun.j)
ezy kitsch 007 (comingout crew)
kinky (comingout crew, eoddae)
out of the femme figure dancers:
rian (lachica) -> choreographer
gabee (lachica)
simeez (lachica)
founding mother ran love 007 -> choreographer

Thank you for making this video, it makes me happy to learn more about vogue thru the media that I LOVE, K-POP
Chungha dance practice videos are well worth watching too
I need Chungha - I'm Ready Dance practice reactionnn
Waacking whaacking with tutting mixed in.
you should've also watched the choreo video to see the moves more clearly as well as a dip at the end of the bridge that's not in the MV
I believe in Love Ran supremacy and UGH it makes me so happy to hear your comments and thoughts on her choreography 💕
Check out Chungha's catwalk in I'm ready!
Chungha is the queen. Watch I'm ready is sooooo impressive

The male dancers are also male industry dancers (at least the few I recognize. Kinky in particular stands out to me. He was involved in street man fighter and most of them are part of a couple different queer crews and can be seen as backup dancers in many kpop songs and mvs. Chungha works with them a lot in particular and has really built a rapport with them.
she does the Catwalk in her song ‘I’m Ready’ released earlier this year! you would love that one too.
Glad you reacted to this, a much better representation of vogue represented within kpop
omg, next Color by Solar and Nuaghty by Seulgi n Irene
Have you seen "I'm ready" by Chung Ha?? That's a must ❤🔥
I love watching the reactions from dancers to get further insight and watch the enjoyment. Thanks for reacting!
He's so cute❤
Excellent review. I think Chung Ha's "I'm Ready" and "Dream of You" with R3HAB might be closer to the ballroom description you are describing
Chungha was invited as a guest judge at a ball last year
The dance practice video for Stay tonight is a must. I highly suggest you watch it even in your own time if you didn’t want to react!
Please Reaction of Chungha ' I'm ready' MV .
would love you to see you watch her performance for “i’m ready!”
LOVE hearing your takes on kpop Vogue. Spot on about cis women being a larger demographic in EA ballroom (well, performance) than in other countries. But we’re trying to grow our FQ presence here in Tokyo!!
I loved this reaction, I wish you could see the performance video so you could see more of the intricate movement!
chungha is the queen of hands choreo
ah this girl serving a lot happy that u reacted this song. her recent reselease rrally good too (I'm Ready)
I love more the "performance video" is iconic ❤
so happy for this react!!
would love to see you react to naughty by irene and seulgi! Probably the most hand performance based choreo in all of kpop
She is the best soloist in KPOP🔥
Subbing because I need to see you react to more of her videos and dance practices
I highly recommend you watch the dance practice!! You can see the dance more clearly and the dips!
U should watch the whole full choreography on studio choom channel. So u can fully immerse on the performance 😄😄👍👍
I love your videos, and please react to Queen Chung Ha’s i’m Ready ❤❤ the MV and the dance practice, is just pure gold ❤
Please you have to check our Everglow - La Di Da, especially their Studio Choom performance where you can really appreciate the movement and elements they incorporated!!!
"I'm Ready" by Chungha next please 🙏
Please do Chungha's I'm Ready Dance practice reaction!!
Absolutely love these videos! I was going to comment and recommend you react to the dance practices, but I changed my mind when you talked about the creative process and how it was clear the camera work understood the language of Vogue. It’s not just about the choreography.
Here’s some recommendations of other songs to react to in order from most to least relevant:
Colors - Solar
Naughty - Irene & Selugi (this is more tutting than Vogue hands but it’s one of the most detailed choreos I’ve seen in kpop)
La Di Da - Everglow (this is kind of a stretch and there probably wouldn’t be more to comment on than the chorus and dance break)
i recommend "I'm ready" from Chungha and any other song to be honest, almost all of them have Voguing elements. But please remember to watch "dance practice" instead of music videos. Then you can analyze and see all! :)
Yehey 😃😃 another vogue - kpop mv reaction... i suggest chungha - i'm ready. I think it is the perfect kpop vogue right now.
ChungHa has done more of this style
Maybe could you analyse for us? :D
Hope you enjoy it as much as us fans do 🥰
Also Kim Ran (LoveRan) is also the one that choreographed Colors and is actually in the performance video along with other House of Love members
I think if you watch any more of Chungha's songs you should watch the performance or dance practices instead of the MV. Since their more dance focused~ I would love to see a reaction to I'm Ready~
I learn so much from your reactions so keep pausing as much as you want!!
I recommend you check "Dream of you" and "Im ready" from her, the performance ver. of both i think you would like those a loot!
Also Colors by Solar i think you would love it
Watch chungha READY there’s a good amount of voguing
You should react to Naughty by Irene & Seulgi! They got really clean tutting
really enjoyed this video too!! my only suggestion would be to check out the dance practice/performance videos for the songs as well! the companies usually produce a high quality choreo focused video in addition to the mv so you can get a fuller picture((:
Iv been waiting for this one turn it UP!!!!
I’m Ready- Chungha
I can't.. Gravity is so gorgeous! 😍
You gotta react to another tutting-whacking-voguing masterpiece by Chungha called I'm Ready!!! It's even better!
I think you would love Chugha's I'm Ready and Solar's Color.
And sorry for my English it’s not my first language 💖
You should watch Love Ran's round in Korea's Redbull dance competition. I have a feeling you'd enjoy it!
I clicked so fast , I appreciate your opinion and words. ❤
