I don’t agree Russia is necessary - they would never have won if it hadn’t been for Simone’s struggles. They are irrelevant. Plus, I hear China has improved a lot.

@brynneholt1990 just out of curiosity, I checked the Wikipedia page and the Russian team won the Tokyo team competition by 3.5 points. That is a very high margin.Russia also did this with two falls off the balance beam. Even if Simone competed in Tokyo at her best, she would have added two marks or at most three points of difficulty above the rest of the field in Floor and Vault. Her bars and beam are pretty even with the Russians. Russia would have likely won even with Biles in the lineup.
Russia also won the qualifying round of the meet, and Simone was healthy during that portion of the meet.

this is the main leotard they actually wear 4 different leotards during the different Gymnastics competitions at the Olympics prelim team/team all around Individual all around and individual Apparatus finals there's only been 4 times where a US Women's Gymnast has won 5 medals at the Olympics Mary Lou Retton 1984 Los Angeles Shannon Miller 1992 Barcelona Nastia Liukin 2008 Beijing and Simone Biles 2016 Rio de Janeiro, Brazil granted Nastia's father had also won 4 Olympic medals in 1988 for the USSR in Seoul South Korea for example Millers 5 medals in 1992 were team all around Bronze Floor Bronze and Uneven Bars Bronze and individual all around silver and Balance Beam silver highest score was on the uneven bars 9.962 and winning score on beam in 1996 was 9.862 Dominique Moceanu's score on beam was 9.13 due to a fall off the apparatus and some form deductions and her score on Floor was 9.83 just out of medals Dominique Dawes got the Bronze with a 9.84 on floor ex in 1996
There will be EIGHT leotards for the women: 1- podium training 2- prelims 3- team finals 4- AA 5,6,7,8 one for each different EF. All 8 leotards saw the light of day in Tokyo. The two individual gymnasts wore the purple leotard for podium training, the team wore the black and pink "Olympic torch" leotard for podium training, the individual gymnasts wore the red leotard for prelims and Suni wore it for the beam final while the team wore the "4th of July leotard," the team wore the red, while, and blue three thick stripes leotard for team finals, Suni wore the "luck leotard/ Leo that represented a medal around the neck for AA final when she won gold, while MyKayla wore it when she won silver in the vault final and Jade wore it when she won gold in the floor final, Jade wore the "Wonder Woman" blue leotard for the AA final while Suni wore it for the bar final, and Simone wore the "American flag" leotard for the beam final. Suni wore the most leotards at 6 (only did not wear the purple leotard and the American flag leotard, followed by Jade, who did not wear the American flag leotard or the two leos worn by the team for prelims or team finals, Simone wore 4, including the American flag leo for the very last event (beam) the nobody else wore, and then Jordan and Grace only wore the 3 team leos and Mykayla also wore three leotards. The only way for any gymnast to wear all 8 leotards if they make EVERY final, and Simone is the only one who has a chance at that. With how deep the field is, I would be kind of surprised if she makes the bar final this year, though.
