  • A reading of the Lives of St. Earconwald, Bishop of London (+693), and St. Ethelburga, Abbess of Barking (+675). Brother and sister, the two Saints in 661 helped establish the monastery of Barking, of which St. Ethelburga became the Abbess, and the Monastery of Chertsey where St. Earconwald served as Abbot. In 675, St. Earconwald was ordained Bishop of London by St. Theodore of Canterbury and in 693 he reposed and was buried in Old St. Paul's Cathedral in London. Many pilgrims found peace and healing from venerating them and both are pillars of Southern England.
We commemorate him on April 30th. We commemorate her on October 11th.
Holy Saints Earconwald and Ethelburga, pray to God for us!
