Nice work again mate, love watching your videos, I got a bmw z3 2.2 sport on a 02 plate n ma garage. . I started doing work on it thanks to your encouragement mate Iv never done anything on cars I just put them in a garage and pay the bill. Iv just done discs and pads and cleaned and painted calipers, fitted k&n induction kit and starting new sports coilovers and springs.. Thanks bluudy.. Keep the ❤️
I’ve just fitted a Sony CarPlay/Android Auto headunit in my 159, granted there’s no Netflix etc but it does have maps, Spotify, DAB. Best of all the unit has a double din screen but a single din body so it just slotted right in, without the need to disassemble half my car.
It looks factory, I kept the original head unit in the car for ages because I liked the stock look but I’m really happy with the results. I ordered the fascia surround for the 159, fits perfectly. It’s the Sony XAV-AX3005DB.
i saw the finished article on another thread and thought great, would look great in my alfa 159 :) but i'm halfway through this video and its clear its a bit of a nightmare, so i will leave it be!
There's another one you can get on eBay that slots right in, I went for that one over the pumpkin one and I'm so fucking glad I did after watching this!
@bluudy, thanks for the detailed video. I built in my pioneer double din, but how did you trick the car to have the settings like 'change time' back to the menu at the steering wheel? I mean, those were controlled by the original navi-unit?
The extra usb you can do like i done, got an extension and removed the Blue and Me one and put the one from the new unit where the original one was, when you look seem like the factory one
Top effort, I would have given up! But with the single din (double screen size) you can slot in and keep the blue and me black unit. Then you don’t lose the Bluetooth control on the steering wheel. I take it you lost that function as said it wasn’t working after install?
You can buy a bit of kit and do it through your odb connection or a garage will do it in 5 mins. I tried to do this but if you have a bad wire it wont fix it
Should have a wire in the unit that says illumination or illum. and should be connected to any one of the lights that goes on in the dash or console when the headlights are on, and then when you turn them one the radio will dim itself and its way better at night. You done a good work. Ohh do you have the MultiEcuScan software and a ELM327 obd conector?! If yes do a Proxy Aligment and luckly will remove the flashing Mile counter
Hi, do you have any idea if I have normal steering wheel if I can put wheel with buttons like yours. I saw only two sockets for airbag inside, so I am assuming I have to put some additional cables there, huh?
Nice install, nice radio too, looking or something similar for my polo but £229 is a little steep for me would you recommend any android unit that’s cheaper? Cheers
i would like to know where you have bought your pack connection for radio. i bought a new one and i did not get it . Now I lost all control connexion from my radio. Thanks
Interesting vid mate, I've got my eye on a 159 Ti and am already planning the factory stereo upgrade, looks like a bit of a mission! Where did you get the removal pin things and adapters from please? Cheers
Where did you get the canbus interface ... i want to install the unit into my Alfa GT and want to do it properly. To male mine look 'nice' i've put a shark aerial on the roof (the old one was broken) with GPS/DAB/FM. Wiring was time consuming.
While the headunit looks decent by the time you have added the extras you need to get the most out of the headunit you're looking at closer to £350 - £400 and for that i can get a branded name (Sony, Kenwood etc) with everything added and more. I also think if you wanted a cheap double din andriod unit for alot less money with the same apps as you just download them from the app store (by linking the headunit to your phone, or home wifi and downloading them that way)
A cheaper unit wouldnt have the same quality screen or amplifier built in. Nit all of the cheaper ones support multiple bluetooth connections. Nor do they have wifi options. They just come with a gps. Had plenty of the cheaper ones to know this.
@@bluudysgarage Oh don't get me wrong the headunit looks good but its steep in price for what it is, im sure if i spent 30 minutes i could find something near on identical for less. I think the price of the unit lets it down, you have to add on all the extras DAB aerial etc etc which drives the price of the unit up and for that kind of money i could pick up a sony / kenwood etc which supports apple car play, multi phone connections, built in DAB etc.

How does this unit compare to the ATOTO? I am installing an ATOTO in my VW because they make a custom one for my Passat, but want something for my father's Outback.
Now I loved the atoto. Because they are both android based they can pretty much do the same thing. But I have noticed the bass to be better with this unit. But that could be because the alfas speakers are better than the vectra and golf which I had the atoto in.
The milage flashes because the car has detected that something has been changed in the car. It’s normal. It’s about £20/30 to get it reset to stop it flashing. Can you access error codes or install an app to do that?
Hi, is it any way to plug a bluetooth module to the original radio ? That would be perfect for me. thanks for all this salvation videos :) I highly appreciate them

I went to reinstall the factory radio and that has no power either. Checked fuses all fine. Any ideas? Alsonoticed that the trip computer (mpg, range ect) stopped working. Please help!!!

@@timbeasleyscuba Hi so what does this box actually do? I am an installer in Australia and have a customer wanting to fit an aftermarket head unit system/ want to make sure this box can be removed before trying this install. Thanks Jeff.
You can have this for a fraction of the price with an android box and LCD screen put together, or even windows PC If you like. This £230 stereo is overpriced.
I'm talking mini PC, the size of an android box and a screen the size of what you have but cheaper and could ultimately do more things with apps and games. My android box emulates retro consoles among other things and that is great in car.
