Wow great I thought of pursuing PM course in your site but the cost is bit high, I think you need to refine your user research on affordability in India :p .
so,in market sizing questions, can i also categorize the user based on usage...say 20 percent use it every day and 80 percent use it once in 3 days and 10 percent use it once a week....so the no of units of fairness cream the various user segment buys will vary and hence the final market size ? My question is ,will my ability to segment the problem in different ways benefit me in any way or I do not have to complicate and use average usage instead?
You can, but I they're just testing to see how you think. If you can go deeper and not get lost in details, go ahead. But it's safer to use simpler breakdowns and stating your assumptions for this exercise. You can state caveats such as some users will use less and some will use more, but this is an average. As this isn't an accounting exercise, I don't think you'll get many more points for going deeper.
For fairness cream, here is my solution, gather data how many Men are in schools, colleges, private and public sector companies. Gather existing products details and do research with this data..will get excellent out come for the new product..
On the analytical question, it may make a good interview answer but the real way to figure out is how much is the existing offerings making. So you will figure out how much is being spent by consumers on fairness creams currently! Sum up the market cap of current players in the market and that's the size of the market.

Suppose they do end up going with someone else--it'd be great to then ask for feedback on how you can improve, and just keep interviewing. Right now that's your job--to get and do as many interviews as possible. There is absolutely NO reason at all for you to feel like a loser. None. Zero. First of all those things you listed that you made up--you don't know if they're true or not. Salary is always a negotiation they expect people to say something high and then negotiate. @upgrad I just found out about product manager Im about to graduate with a technical degree this year. I was wondering in order to be a product manager would I have to go to Bussiness school?
I believe a product manager should also know the social impact of what they’re designing to sell. The speaker’s ability to talk through men’s fairness cream, as an example, effectively showcases the absence of social responsibility. Bad education. If we do decide to go down the path of making anything to make money, then things like “DIY pimp” app could be great idea. Men could advertise women in their families and earn good income, for a small membership fee.
Out of all states in India some of the states never want to use fairness cream like J&k , Himachal Pradesh etc. So you can consider demographic divide of population.
