Atari Tetris (Arcade) - Gameplay (99 Levels)

Gotta love the Я, but it doesn't make any sense since it's pronounced "Ya" in Russian.
In this video I want to see the limits of the Atari version of Tetris:
- there are 99 levels, beating 99 makes you play 99 again (1:49:34);
- the score rolls over from 1 million to 0, and it's fun to see because it's left-aligned, so there is garbage until I finish the level (1:03:41);
- lines keep counting just fine after 999 (1:07:54), but I cba to reach 9999, this already is almost two hours long.
In the end, my score is (1)782696.
This is NOT tool assisted, you can see TONS of errors throughout the video.
Have fun! Or don't, I'm fine either way.

I am perhaps the longest continuous player in one game on this version of Tetris. Switching from NES Tetris to here was a bit discomforting, because this game started a really bad trend - only being able to rotate in one direction at a time.
Can you guess my record?

9999 lines would take over 8 hours at least, and while it doesn't count past 99, it doesn't repeat 99, the normal round order still keeps going

I love the arcade version best but the NES version was awesome too. I am talking about the amico one not the actual NES one.

the arcade version has difficulty setting in dip switch that you can set, next time can try hardest setting :)
What my wisecrack wasn't for this game the guy/gal was playing is: go ahead play it however you want to play it. 🙄

Level 12 and further... How do you achieve to fit the last red piece so high? Do you hold the stick in the desired direction or tap several times? I can't be so fast with red pieces even predicting the movement before they are on the screen. Thank you.
I wouldn't be able to do that with a joystick, but I can tap much faster with a keyboard
@@nineko thank you. I remember two guys that they reached the level 99 in this game and made this crazy movements playing in the arcade cabinet . I wonder what is the mistery. I have played a lot of Tetris but I can't go further than level 16 because of that. Maybe I still ignore other tricks and skills.

You can "hipertap" an arcade joystick, it takes practice but can be done. I reached lvl 72 with a single credit on an arcade cabinet

Atari stole the rights to Tetris. They weren't a very honest company.
It's not Atari's fault,Robert Stein and Mirrorsoft doesn't have the console license to Tetris,even Mirrorsoft sub-licensed to Bullet-Proof-Software meaning BPS Tetris is an illegal release,too.
Now everyone is an expert on Tetris after watching the movie 😂😂

two months ago I found the game called PENTOMINOVICH which try to recreate Atari Tetris design and implement hold function and some features form its original Arcade version.that game was really fun to play with newly added Pentominos,but the last time it updates was 5 years ago
