Nope, thank goodness. We actually have a minimum wage set in law for the whole country and tips aren't needed to make up a wage shortfall like America. There are some places though, especially restaurants and even pubs, that suggest a tip or even try to add a gratuity fee to the bill. We had a big family dinner once, over a decade ago, and this pub in a village added a tip on and we asked for it to be taken off. The place was already pretty pricey to eat at!
