This should be the standard for in depth guides, fucking amazing! The amount of details, and tick timings is super helpful, much appreciated. Can't imagine the amount of work put it. I have 2 questions, You explained p5 tank swapping, could you explain other phases tank swapping? As in, how many attacks between each tank swap, on average, and how do specials affect this timer? The Second question, is when going in and out of range in p5, could you explain the exact tick we need to be outside of nex range, to not get aggroed? Is it the tick she attacks, the tick before, or 2 ticks before?
phases 1, 3 and 4 nex can attack between 2-8 times with 3 and 4 times being the most likely before she swaps. phase 2 it seems to be 2-6 attacks with 2 being a lot more common during phase 2. after nex does a special its more likely for her to swap aggro. I always in my mind called these short cycles + long cycles. a short cycle being her swapping after 2-3 attacks and a long being 4+ however stalling nex for longer than 1 tick which technically can be done without losing ticks yourself will change how many attacks you were due to tank. its impossible to tell if someone is going to get a short cycle or long cycle and also impossible to tell when she will swap under normal circumstances but there is a few things that will cause her to swap earlier than she might have otherwise.. someone being further away and changing their distance from nex someone brewing down and lowering their offensive stats someone swapping gear and changing their defensive stats (from range to melee gear and visa versa) as well as that the amount of time you stall nex for will also effect how many hits you may have tanked. for example stalling for 1 tick and "5 ticking" nex you may still tank up to 8 hits or more if reallllly unlucky but stalling under nex for 3-4 ticks between every hit will always cause you to tank less before it swaps to someone else from what I can tell. for p5 and running out of food you have to be 11 or more tiles away on the tick she attacks (the same time you see her wave her arms and start the animation to attack is the tick you cannot be in range)
@@redeyejedi8615 Mate, this is the most goated answer I could have asked for, super complete. Can't imagine the effort you had to gather this detailed info. Really can't thank you enough!! Do you have any idea how brewing down affects who tanks? Since, the person who tanks, usually has to brew down the most ahah
@@ritzstuff515 I wish I could give a perfect answer to that question but I cannot, there seems to be so many elements of the fight that effect how she chooses her next target with distance being the most common way for her to choose. i think there is a hidden priority system where eventually you are chosen for the tank no matter the circumstances. for example if you had 3 people.. player a, b and c and player A stayed in melee distance whilst player b and c stood 5+ tiles away its likely to keep swapping between b and c but eventually it goes to A. I think we have to accept there is an element of randomness to nex

@@Primalz iirc, the mvp for each minion gets a death charge and the same for the blood reavers, if you have the space for it then there's no harm in bringing it
Thanks for the guide, have been doing a lot of duo nex recently and they've all been pretty speedy and clean but we've been running into an issue from time to time. At the end of mp2 after nex shouts "embrace darkness" we do our final hit and leave but nex sometimes follows us. This wouldn't be an issue but sometimes nex is so close that it begins hitting us with damage every tick, if we run we are taking damage every tick and if we try to reset we take damage every hit. If whoever nex is on hasn't taken too much damage during p2 they can sometimes sip brew and survive before the reset but not always. This doesn't always happen at the end of p2, most of the time nex doesn't follow us and sometimes we have a large enough gap on nex that we can run back into nex at the right time (without taking the tick damage) to reset it. I can maybe get a video next time i do duos if you're unsure what I mean, I don't suppose you know what to do in this situation or how we can avoid this?
i know exactly what you are talking about yes and this can be a very frustrating thing to happen. you go to leave and back off into range distance after she starts embrace darkness and end up being chased whilst still in range of the embrace. there is not a way to avoid this happening but there is 1 small trick that can help get you out of range a bit sooner. if you run around a corner you will create a gap as it takes nex longer to path around any corner. if being chased after you back off its best to keep backing off far enough that you end up running around a corner. this isnt perfect and you more than likely still end up taking damage from the embrace but its the best you can probably do in this situation. the alternative is to back off slightly early which also is not ideal as you want to throw the extra melee hit after she shouts embrace darkness.
@@redeyejedi8615 Thanks for the quick response :) I couldn't find any examples of it in videos or searching in discord servers for people that have ran into this so was a bit frustrating for our only deaths to be to this lol Will give using the corner to create a gap a go and if it's still wobbly take the L and back off slightly early
Hey Mr Redeye, I noticed the invents linked in the description forego crossbows+buckler and I wondered if that's intentional? I remember when running teams around a year ago, people were saying using tbow on Nex herself is trolling (besides low hp during P5) but after seeing the invent and running the calcs it doesn't seem bad at all to me. Is this because you brew-rangepot when needed? Thanks
vw is BIS for special attacks there at nex and yes tbow is better than zcb there also for nex/minions, in some cases zcb can go brr but for consistent dps/mvp's i found those setups to work best
after the combat rebalancing zcb seems to be quite a bit better than tbow for nex itself and i've seen people say it's even better spec than vw since the spec got more accurate aswell, since you still want tbow for minions/reavers is it worth taking zcb and buckler or is it better to stick to vw/tbow
tbow is 5.39 and zcb 5.78 dps now, so its a bit better ye and after doing the calcs voidwaker spec is still better (zcb is just over 26.9dps for the spec and voidwaker is 22.1 dps, for the 50% spec cost its more dmg output than zcb) still worth using voidwaker as a spec but the zcb is worth bringing for nex itself for p2/p5
Swap to light bearer during minion phases and when ranging on p2. I also spec any specs I have at the start of p4 and camp lightbearer all of p4 till p5 and getting 100% back again
Cheers for the great video! One question I have is if you only have an acb should I be switching to long range for minions? Also considering bringing bowfa with crystal body as its better dps than acb on minions? thanks!
Bowfa would be best to bring but its lower defence means you would be targetted by nex more often. Also you defo dont wanna long range the minions. Phase 1, 3 and 4 doesn't matter just stand anywhere tbh. Phase 2 drag in for attacks from umbra tile using rapid still
